Port Charles Update Thursday 3/15/01
Eve is at the Pizza Shack ordering a calzone when Karen shows up to pick up a large pizza. When Eve asks her why she needs a large, Karen says she's going to surprise Frank at his place. She reveals that while she was away in Tennessee, she and Frank got closer.
Frank is at the computer reading messages from the mystery person. First, they ask him how they are communicating and Frank answers that it must be through the internet. He gets a response asking him "What's an internet?" Then, things get even weirder when the mystery person asks, "Are you sitting at a computer like me?" Frank decides to sign off because it just got too weird for him and he types that he is signing off because he's got to go meet someone. Right before he turns off the computer, he is asked, "Are you with the government?" Perplexed, Frank shuts off the computer.
Ian gives Arianna a cup of tea to calm her down. He tries to get her to talk to him about her rape, but she says no man can ever understand how she felt to be overpowered and stripped of her dignity. Ian tells her he'd like to try to understand so tell him.
Karen tells Eve how she and Frank got close through their daily phone calls. When Eve questions how Karen got from thinking Frank was just a friend to boyfriend material, Karen admits to her that she was hesitant to start a relationship with Frank because of his past. But, she realized that he's changed and she trusts him. She knows that he would never hurt her. When Eve tells Karen how much she missed their girl talks, Karen tells her that she was only a phone call away. Eve says she should have called her because she was forced to confide in Lucy of all people about her problems. Eve tells Karen that this is the time of her life where she should be happy because she is so in love but, she knows that Arianna is falling in love with Ian and she feels that the longer that she is married to Ian the harder it will be to let go of him.
Arianna tells Ian that she doesn't want to talk about the rape because it's too hard. Ian tells her that it's harder to hold in her feelings, but he agrees not to push her and she can tell him when she's ready. As he's getting her things ready to go, she painfully begins recounting the events of the night of the rape. She had wanted to go to the library, which was just right down the street from her house. Because it was already dark, her father forbade her from going, but she went anyway. When she finished at the library, it was such a beautiful night so she went for a walk down to the water. As she was looking out over the water, she noticed a friend of her brother approaching her. At first, he offered to keep her secret that she disobeyed her father, but when she turned to leave he grabbed her and forced her down to the ground. When she tells Ian that she had tried to scream and nothing came out, he urges her to scream now against her attacker. Arianna slumps to the floor in a long wail and starts screaming "NO!"
Eve talks with Karen about Ian's marriage to Arianna. Karen expresses her relief that Ian still does love Eve even after he married Arianna. While they are talking, the pizza guy announces that Karen's pizza is ready. Karen leaves to go to Frank's house.
Arianna thanks Ian for listening to her. Ian tells her that he doesn't blame her for what happened to her because it wasn't her fault. The guy who attacked her was not a real man. When Ian tells her that women are to be cherished and loved, Arianna asks him if he thinks that about all women. He answer yes and she asks him to hold her and she holds onto him tightly.
Frank is sharing a pizza with the waitress at the Pizza Shack. They tell each other about their love lives. He tells her about Karen and she realizes that he cares for her. When Frank tries to get out of the date, she suggests that he take her to his place to show her his computer. She says it would be a good distraction for him if he's trying to keep his mind off of Karen. Frank agrees and they take off.
Karen is in the garage talking to the computer. She wonders where Frank is and hopes that he wants to see her as much as she wants to see him. She doesn't notice that the computer has turned on.
Eve is in her hotel room when she remembers the words of warning the chief gave her and Ian. She asserts to herself that she believes that they will end up together and she will wait as long as it takes for that to happen.
Arianna apologizes for crying in Ian's arms. She tells him that she has tried so hard to be strong and he assures her that she is strong. A lot of women would not have survived what she went through and he promises to always try to protect her so that one day she will know what it's like to be loved by a lucky man. He assures her that that will happen for her. In the meantime, he offers to take her home unless she wants to talk to Kevin again. She says that right now all she wants right now is to go home to their apartment.
