Guiding Light Update Friday 8/23/02

By La’Homal

Opening: Spaulding mansion, the living room

Olivia and Sam.  Olivia is on the phone discussing the debut of Lorelei’s diary.  From the expression on her face, it must be a hit, no doubt.  Sam approaches intrigued, "Lorelei’s diary," he’s puzzled somewhat.  Olivia tries to change the subject once she notices that her baby bro has entered the room.  Olivia’s plan is to use the marketing of diary to make money and, most importantly, as a lure for Phillip, but Sam is doubtful.  "Let me guess, this diary is supposed to paint Beth in a bad light, right," says Sam.  Meanwhile, Olivia is offering Sam his choice of beverage: a beer or a soda (Is Sam even old enough to be drinking alcohol?); which, is supposed to take his mind off the matter at hand.  Sam continues, "And I suppose this will be a big, huge surprise for Phillip."  "What Sam," Olivia asks enthused.  Sam is not accustomed to seeing Olivia like this.  Olivia cops the "do you know what it’s like living in a prison" plea for sympathy.  But, Sam isn’t buying it (this kid is tough), he says, "go home then, you still have your apartment." Olivia takes pride in her scheme to lure Phillip as the man himself enters, searching for a misplaced green folder.  "I put it down and I can’t find it," Phillip says.  This is ample opportunity for Olivia to provoke Phillip and yes, she seizes the opportunity.  "You don’t normally misplace things like that, he (Alan) must’ve really gotten to you," says a snickering Olivia.  Phillip goes on looking, while Olivia and Sam get back to her wayward plan.  She’s waiting for someone else to spill the beans to Phillip about the diary, which is what her brother guessed.  Sam is definitely a smart guy, maybe he could teach Olivia a thing or too…

Mission:  Beth approaches an entryway with a map.  "Here. This is where I fell on my head.  I was here as Lorelei," says Beth who’s obviously remembering something or at least it seems that way.  Location, Location, Location is right…Under an arch, Beth runs into a mental block.  She can’t remember much else, so she continues forward into the mission.  She sits in the pew with her head bowed somewhat.  Guy approaches.  It’s a priest.  "Senora,?@%&*(asks something in Spanish that I don’t understand).  (Now English…) Oh it’s you," he says after recognizing Beth.  She rises.  "I was here. I was in this mission," she blurts.  Whoa Nelly, don’t scare the man.  She has questions as usual and explains that she was probably there as Lorelei Hills.  "Is that your name," the priest asks.  "No, not that it seems to matter," says Beth discouraged.  You’re right it doesn’t really matter all…just kidding

Olivia’s apartment:  Beth & Ross are necking, making out, etc.  "This is Olivia’s apartment which means there must be sex in the air," says a sultry Blake who’s a little to old to be drumming up excuses to have sex.  Ross appears clueless.  "Meaning what," he asks.  Blake is definitely in the mood for love, making it, and decides to go to the kitchen to get some "adult beverages," but she finds whipped cream.  "Image the possibilities," says Blake.  Yeah I can…

Highway:  Gus and Eden are walking down a dark highway.  Gus makes this lame sound.  Why are they here, you ask?  I will tell you.  They’re here to play a game which will help Eden to be honest, tell the truth, and help him (Gus).  Damn, that’s some game, huh?  If Eden wins he dumps Harley?  Can you say hardly?  By the by, I thought he was dumped already?  Oh well.  If Gus wins, "we go straight to Phillip’s house," he says.  Eden thinks that Gus has gone soft in Springfield.  "Center of the road," Gus commands.  He’s ticked.  They take their marks and now for the rules: speeding vehicle bears down on them; the smart person who moves waaay before the car gets close to them loses and the road kill wins.  Aww hopscotch, freeze tag, and making human road kill.  These darn kids are the best ever!!!!!

Company:  Alan looking at Olivia in the newspaper and begins to have a flashback of Phillip embracing Olivia.  A woman appears.  "Mr. Spaulding, sorry I’m late.  I was tracking down your request and it took a little longer than I had expected," she says.  She is a private investigator by the way.  "But, you did get it," asks Alan.  She got it.  "Excellent," he says pleased.  "They work like a dream," she says, while sliding Alan a nice jewelry box.  Someone’s being devious….

Spaulding Mansion: Olivia, Sam, & Phillip.  "Phillip here is a beer drinker," says Olivia being coy with Phillip.  Phillip is on to her.  He asks her to accompany him to the patio to look for his missing folder.  "I thought we got things straight," he asks.  Sam is inside and in the dark.  Olivia’s being silly and probably annoying the heck out of Phillip.  Conversation ensues and boils down to one question.  "What’s keeping you here," Phillip asks.  He has a penchant for asking all the hard questions.  Poor Beth/Lorelei and Olivia…

Olivia’s Apartment: Blake and Ross are necking with whipped cream.  "Get it off," Ross commands, while shaking a can of whipped cream at Blake’s bear chest (well, she still has on her shirt, but you can see her bra.  Close enough).  Spank her!! Oh sorry thought I was in on this too…  The doorbell rings—its Holly, the party pooper.  Blake and Ross are stunned.  "How’d she know we were in here," Blake asks.  "Little too late to think about that.  You get the door and I’ll put this stuff away," Ross says.  Holly pops in with a baked good of some sort (cake?) to say "hi."  Blake and Ross are busy creating a lie to get rid of her.  "We’re unpacking," Blake chirps.  "No boxes," says Sherlock, I mean Holly.  "Is that whipped cream on your cheek," asks Holly of Blake.  Oh well Blake the jig is up…

Highway: Gus and Eden are standing in the highway now.  "You don’t care about punishing the Santos’s anymore.  You’re a big chicken," says Eden.  Gus is ignoring you, childish Eden.."Woo hoo, headlights," says Gus sounding happy.  Wait Eden, he’s childish too!!  Ready to die, I see.  These two are loons... "Harley’s not worth it," says Eden.  "You’re mad I love someone other than you," says Gus.  Sibling tension, gotta love it.  He’s gibing Eden, who’s obviously scared now.  She’s the chicken.  "Let’s move," Eden stammers as the truck speeds toward them.  Eden’s pulling on Gus who won’t budge.  She manages to move him to the wayside, just in time, seemingly as the semi truck flies by with his horn blazing.  Eden’s upset that she loss trying to pull at Gus’s heartstrings.  "You could’ve died," she says.  Sorry Gus’s heartstrings belong to Harley now, sorry.  "We’re going to Phillip’s," Gus says.  Man he’s determined…

Olivia’s Apartment: Blake, Ross, and Harley are together.  Three’s company, right?  No John Ritter, it’s not.  It’s a crowd in this case…"Thanks mom.  That’s very sweet," says Blake.  Blake is handing off the cake to Ross and these too look like a puppy at the pound.  GO, LEAVE, BYE!! Well, I tried.  She goes..to the door to leave and guess who’s there?  Ed.  "After all these years you two are on the same wavelength," Blake says being quite intuitive, if you ask me…

Mission: Beth is tormenting the Priest with Lorelei crap.  Meanwhile, the Priest is trying to piece together the puzzle.  "So, Lorelei was you, but not really you," the Priest asks; he’s obviously confused.  Leave this man alone!  "I remember this place," says Beth.  Oh yeah.  The Priest is reluctant to talk, but Beth is prying.  The Priest is smart and tells her to "pray".  Beth is upset.  "What would help is if you would talk to me," belligerent Beth says.  The Priest exits.  Beth bows her head to pray.., ah maybe not.

Patio: Olivia and Phillip.  Olivia is trying to elude Phillip.  "Maybe I gave you the wrong impression," she says.  Sam interrupts there’s some "creepy FBI guy" business to clear up.  Olivia seems to be more interested than Phillip.  Gus is the FBI guy and he’s arrived with Eden in tow.  Eden is busy in the living room pawing Spaulding possessions.  Gus is edgy and Eden’s just a wee bit too relaxed.  Phillip enters.  "Hi," says Gus.  "What you could possibly want," Phillip asks rudely.  Why a suit, Gus?  I feel like I’m watching a parole hearing or something…Phillip wants him to leave town—like they agreed.  Gus wants to stay and has proof as to why he should be "allowed" too.  Phillip is being sarcastic as he approaches Eden.  Gus is jumbling his words.  Eden says, "He’s telling the truth," rather unconvincingly.  Phillip is laughing and doubtful.  "Where’s Harley?  Why isn’t she here," Phillip chimes.  Again with the hard questions…

Patio: Olivia and Sam.  "Go, Amscray, skid addle," Olivia says with faced pressed lightly against patio glass peering in at Phillip with Eden and Gus.  Sam is concerned about more than unwanted company.  "Have you thought this through?  What about Alan and how he will react," Sam asks as the voice of reason.  I’m sure to Olivia he might sound like the voice of treason, but hey whatever works.  Olivia swears she’s free and clear.  Sam has his doubts.  Alan pops up.  "Did I hear my name," he asks.  Yes, you did.  They look a little shaken.  Sam goes to make a call leaving Olivia to fight the lion alone.  "Have you been busy today, you look tired," Olivia asks.  Alan snaps at her and gives her the "gift."  "Found something with your name written all over it.  Here.  Take a look," Alan tells Olivia.

Mission: Beth prying, snooping, etc.  Beth drags her hands over her head.  "Oh nothing is coming back.  I don’t what I can do to make myself remember," Beth says frustrated and crying.  "It’s not fair," she adds, then she has this flashback of her discussion with Phillip that included his ultimatum and lead to the ripping of her sketch of the mission.  She looks puzzled…

Olivia’s apartment: Blake and Holly are discussing Ed.  "Ed and I, we kissed," Holly blurts.  Blake is pleased, Holly isn’t.  She let her shield down and let a man in.  Ross and Ed are discussing the same topic.  Déjà vu!!!  "What about Buzz," asks Blake intrigued.  "I don’t know," exclaims Holly.  Oh the woes of love.  Blake admits that she likes Ed more than Buzz.  Blake reminds of sex, Buzz, and Billy and the fact that sex is something that Holly hasn’t had in a while or with either of the aforementioned men.  Would you talk like this with your mom, NO!!!!.  Holly says she just wants "sanity."  Elsewhere in the house…"The ball is definitely in your court," says Ross.  Ed’s both nervous and apprehensive.  Ah give up, Holly’s a tough catch.  Blake and Holly enter the room where Ed and Ross are.  Everyone smiles.  Holly and Ed leave together…Blake and Ross are excited, now more whip cream and sex.  Uh oh, doorbell.  It’s Barry Hess.  He’s a caterer and a neighbor of Olivia who asked if he could store something in Olivia’s refrigerator and she agreed.  Now, he wants it.  Gee, could it be whipped cream???  Blake and Ross can’t help but smile…

Patio: Alan and Olivia are talking.  Olivia is looking sneaky.  "Don’t you want to know what’s inside," Alan asks trying to peak Olivia’s curiosity.  Olivia’s looking suspicious.  She takes the bag, it’s a jewelry box, she opens, it, its earrings.  "Oh Alan, they’re exquisite.  Why are you doing this," she asks dumbfounded.  "For the only one reason that matters as I told you before—I adore you," Alan says.  Yeah Right, you sly dog, you.  "Wear them to dinner tonight," he asks.  "I will," says Olivia.  Alan and Olivia passionately kiss.  Olivia, you’re a sucker….

Spaulding Mansion: Gus, Eden, and Phillip are here.  Gus is going the extra mile.  "We’ll get school records, birth certificates, even draw blood," says Gus.  O-K, sounds like you’re in deep.  Phillip doesn’t care.  "Have Harley call me," Phillip says.  Gus and Eden exit hurriedly.  In the hallway, Gus frisks Eden whose stole a Venetian crystal bird from Phillip.  Crook… I thought Jena Bradshaw died in a car accident or something?

Phillip investigates Gus’s allegations.  At the mission, Beth calls Phillip.  "Phillip, hi," she says.  Good start, Beth.  Phillip is happy and puzzled.  "I’m done.  Had enough of it.  I have only found more questions since I’ve been here," Beth claims.  Phillip tells her that he’s going to show her how much he missed her when she returns.  Olivia’s pressing Phillip for details regarding Beth’s return.  I bet she’s none too pleased…

Mission: Beth gathers her things after calling the pilot.  She’s now questioning herself, becoming more and more doubtful.  Snooping, uh oh.  "If I was meant to remember I would Father !?!? was right," Beth says.  Oh here we go again…

Company:  Gus and Eden.  Gus calling Harley, "Cooper, where are you," he asks.  Eden looks like she could care less…as usual…

Mission: Beth delving deeper into the church registry.  "I got married to Bill Lewis," Beth says sounding shocked as a shadowy stranger approaches.  It’s father !?!?  "Lorelei did.  Yes," says Father what’s-his-face.  Beth pries some more.  You guys showed up "middle of the night, ‘happy’ drunk and insisted on being married.  Change of plans now.  Beth is calling pilot to tell him she is making a stop before going to Springfield—that stop is at Mystic Lake, to see Bill."

Mansion: Phillip and Olivia.  "Beth’s coming home, good," says Olivia like she’s pleased.  "She’s going to live in the present with me and the kids," says Phillip.  Aww, nice thought, isn’t it?  Lillian enters with news.  "You haven’t seen it," Lillian says startled.  Phillip’s shocked.  The news: Lorelei’s diary has been published.  Phillip turns to Olivia.  Uh oh…

Company: Alan with the Private Investigator (let’s call her PI) getting specifications on the "earrings" (a/k/a listening devices or Olivia’s undoing).  "Yes, the earrings have some limitations," says the PI.  Alan is pleased because they will allow him to record Olivia and her conversations.  "No one makes a fool of me.  No one," Alan says steamed.  A Spaulding’s pissed! Watch Out!  Olivia’s going to catch it from both ends.  Welcome to the lion’s den…
