Taylor walks Hector through the paces of finding his way around in his new room at her house….how many steps to the desk….the dresser……the bed. He remarks that he feels he is about to walk off a cliff and rests on the bed. She reminds him that he’s looking fine and he doesn’t need his sunglasses. He tells her she is the only person that he really cares about and what he looks like for. He admits he’s done some crazy things, but that he only did them because of how he feels for her. The doorbell rings and she laments it might be some of his firemen buddies so she’d better go get it. But, it’s Stephanie who is confused and concerned about Taylor since Thorne had tried to call and got an answer but no one said hello. Taylor checks her phone and it’s alright. Stephanie gets right to the point and wishes to speak to her about something else. She says they both know that Thorne emotionally is very vulnerable right now. He’d told her about the kiss, and Stephanie is concerned and wonders what Taylor’s intentions are.
Brooke is in the middle of her bedroom with Nick having a tirade about Ridge professing his love and making out with Donna on national TV. Nick tries to explain that it was probably just great publicity. She thinks it’s disgusting and he wonders who really cares? She claims she does. He remarks this is the perfect example why he wishes she would get out of business with THAT family.
Ridge and Donna stroll into Stephanie’s house. He tells her that people love it when you do something unexpectedly, and she was terrific. He pours them a drink. She asks if everything he did was just for the publicity? Or was any of it for real because for her it was! Glibly, he tells her she has got this all wrong. Yes, he is a businessman and he enjoys playing to a crowd and anything to get them to think about Forrester Creations. But…..the things he said to her, he meant every word of it.
Nick tries to calm Brooke. He says technically they are still newlyweds, they are in their bedroom late at night so please tell him she does not want to run off to Forrester and argue with who Ridge chooses to kiss. She blasts that he is going to make a laughing stock of Forrester’s and she’s got to go over there and stop this. He points out this started out to be about her sister and now it’s all about Forrester. He advises her to get a good night’s sleep and everything will look different tomorrow. She sheepishly tells him she is sorry, but she has to go. He demands that she not leave this house, but she says again she is sorry but she has to.
Hector asks himself that how could Taylor love a man that can’t even see her? Taylor tells Stephanie that not that she has to explain herself to Stephanie, but she does have true concern and affection for Thorne. Stephanie seems relieved and says good, that is what she wants here. Taylor has already done so much good, she’s done wonders helping him a little bit each day to help move on with his life. Taylor doesn’t feel like she can take credit for that, but Stephanie says she can take a big portion of it. She explains that people don’t stop mourning because a certain amount of time has transpired. It usually takes something or someone to help them realize that life is still worth living. She realizes that Thorne is filled with complex emotions and Darla would want him to find happiness again. Taylor replies that he will find happiness again in his own way and in his own time. Stephanie starts to leave and notices the cane leaning on a chair and asks about it. Taylor tells her it’s Hector’s and he’s staying upstairs for a few days. Stephanie is taken aback and asks whose idea was that? Taylor says it was hers and he can stay as long as he needs to. Stephanie heads that direction until Taylor stops her. Stephanie says that is the kind of fellow that will take advantage of her, and she’s not going to let that happen.
Ridge continues to lay it on smooth to Donna that he meant every word that he said. Most guys would have said it at dinner or snuggled up on the couch, but he just thought it would be fun there with a little publicity. She admits it was fun, but was it REAL? Mostly double talk but he agrees that he meant it all. And she wants to know – nothing like her sister? He tells her he is still dealing with her loss, and he can’t deny that. She takes his glass and hers and sits it down and slithers up to him and bats the baby browns and says seductively, “is there anything I can do to speed up the process?” (Oh come on, Donna, how blatantly obvious can you be? Why don't you trip him and beat him to the floor?)
He answers that maybe…..possibly…….definitely….. and takes her by the shoulders and puts a heavy liplock on her. Brooke bursts in (you know, no one locks doors) and demands that they stop it right now. She proceeds to let out her anger when she asks if either of them were listening when she explicitly told them not to get personally involved? Obviously not because they had PARADED themselves around on national TV like two moonstruck teenagers. Donna interjects that with all due respect, she can’t tell her who she can see. Brooke tells her this doesn’t concern her. Donna thinks it does. Brooke faces Ridge and asks did he think he could make her jealous so she’d come back to him? He replies that was not his purpose and starts to mention Donna again, and Brooke blasts him to not bring her into this! “But, she is into it and I am into her, this is no stunt!” She rails that he is the KING of stunts. He says maybe when he was trying to prevent her from marrying Nick, but that didn’t work. She married him anyway. She gets it – this is payback? He says no, this is his life. He’s just trying to live it. It isn’t about her anymore. It’s about a warm, wonderful, exciting woman who’s brought a little joy into his life……revving up his creativity. Donna utters that she is not trying to hurt Brooke.
Brooke softly asks Donna if she can just leave so she can talk to Ridge alone? When Donna just stares back at her for a moment, Brooke shouts to GET OUT! Nick tells Catherine he is not sure where is wife is or when to expect her, but he will be on his boat if anything happens.
Stephanie, with Taylor close behind, visits Hector and tells him that no one is more sorry for this terrible thing that has happened to him……except maybe Taylor……which is why he is here in the house and she thinks this is the wrong place for him to be. She assures him that her offer for him to go to the facility in Minnesota still stands. Taylor pipes up that he doesn’t want to go to a facility. Stephanie tells Taylor that she is so sorry to be so blunt, but this is the WRONG place for Hector. He quips, “there’s a surprise.” Stephanie explains that Taylor doesn’t feel the same way about him that he does about her. This is just a recipe for disaster. Taylor tells her okay, she knows she means well, but….Hector gets off the bed and says and if she gets her way, so much the better. He tells Taylor he hopes she can see this is about a controlling mother whose only interest is making sure that Taylor is not focused on anybody other than Stephanie’s own son. Never mind, whether a relationship with Thorne is right for Taylor. It’s what SHE wants, that’s all that matters. Stephanie replies – talk about the pot calling the kettle black……she sees a little maneuvering on his part. She mocks while demonstrating with her hands, “what did you do? Stand and sigh and cry and wring your hands until she broke down and invited you to move in?" Taylor jumps in to defend and says that’s not very nice. The man just lost his eyesight, so don’t be so quick to a snap judgment that he is using her. She told him she would help him while he’s learning to adjust, and that is exactly what she is doing. The doorbell rings and she goes to get it.
Nick is swigging a beer and brings a brown paper bag (more beer?) with him to the boat. Then he searches for the heavy stuff and takes a slug from the liquor bottle.
Brooke laments that she can’t believe this – her own sister! Ridge points out that she isn’t trying to hurt her. She says she isn’t talking about Donna, she is talking about HIM. Why did he have to pick Donna? He rationalizes that SHE picked Donna, fate did not bring them together. But, fate did bring the two of them together and they had it all if she will just remember. And then she ruined it by marrying Nick. She corrects, he RUINED it by leaving her and marrying Taylor. She thought she was safe with him. She trusted her daughter and their son to him. She really thought they’d be together forever. That was their destiny and nothing could ever tear them apart. Again, he rationalizes that he couldn’t anticipate Taylor coming back…..and with Stephanie manipulating things behind the scenes. She says but it doesn’t matter now because he left her anyway. He walked out on her just the way her father walked out years ago when she was a little girl. And that little girl is still inside of her, and she trusted Ridge not to abandon her and he did! He puts his hands on her shoulders but she brushes them off and tells him she doesn’t want to hear his excuses or apologies. He warns her that she needs to be honest here. Take a look at herself. For her to be this angry, this upset over this, it says to him that she wants their life back. “You want our life back as much as I do.”
Alone, Stephanie tells Hector to move out of the house, he doesn’t belong there. He tells her this is NOT her call. She is silent for a moment until he tells her to say something, he can’t see her. She walks up to him in his face with her hot breath and he turns away as she says, “okay, Mr. Hero. I know what you are doing. I can see this. I can see that Taylor has bought into this and you’re playing on her guilt and innate goodness.” And this is a pretty sad situation. He rallies back with that people like her always think other people operate the way they do. She fires, “don’t even try to get on the same race track with me. You don’t have the horsepower or the stamina.” She says it’s very simple – her son NEEDS Taylor in his life, and that’s the way it’s going to be!
Bridget calls out Nick’s name and comes aboard the boat. He offers her a pop from his bottle. She declines so he takes one for her. She says she saw the light and thought maybe he and her mom were there. He bemoans – no mom. She mentions seeing the kiss between Donna and Ridge at the end of her finishing her shift. He remarks that so did her mother and she proceeded to go right over and address the situation. “Of course, it is about business, protecting her sister, and blah, blah, blah.” He grabs for the bottle again and then his phone and wants to find out what happened. He’d like to call her Aunt Donna, he’d like her opinion.
Brooke tells Ridge that all her life she wanted to be HIS Logan. And she admits that she still loves him. He is the one great romantic love of her life and always will be, that won’t ever change. But, she is married to Nick now. He smirks that his brother doesn’t do it for her. She admits it’s different, more grounded. He adds, “as in BORING.” She comments more like solid and reliable and he’s a wonderful man that she loves very much. He tells her such a waste. He screwed up, he knows that. He was being pulled in too many directions. He had two families, one with her and one with Taylor and he was just trying to do the right thing, but he made the WRONG decision and he’s been beating himself up for it every since. She replies maybe, but it’s still too late.
Donna relays to Nick that Brooke burst in like a freight train. He wants to know what is the freight train is doing now? Ridge tells Brooke it is NOT too late. He says he is NOT her father. Yes, he left for a month, but not for years. And he never stopped loving her, not for one moment. She asks him not to. But, he reveals that he wants her back. He’s not going to wait another second. With that, he cups her face and kisses her….she returns it. Donna looks around the corner and spies this and says into the phone, “oh, my God.” Nick tells her to answer him or he will jump through the phone. Reluctantly, she tells they are kissing. He gulps with Bridget looking concerned.
Ridge exclaims, “Be mine again.”
