Ridge shows Brooke some sketches of what Donna will be wearing on a talk show that night. Brooke seems less than pleased with the instant strip tease Donna will be doing. And it doesn’t go unnoticed that Ridge’s hand slips right down on Donna’s butt when they are talking. Ridge chastises her for not going for this when she just admitted it was something she would wear……..if she stooped that low these days.

Brooke more or less dismisses Donna by asking her shouldn’t she be getting dressed. She then tells Ridge not to do this. Do not play games with both her and her sister. He plays innocent and she mentions his hands all over Donna. He says one hand, one spot. And he’s not sure what it did for Donna but it sure got Brooke going! She makes a motion to leave and he asks what about the show? She remarks she doesn’t need to be there. Ridge is doing what he wants and Donna doing what she wants. He states that actually she is doing what he wants. She’s being herself and not that zombie woman she’d been since marrying Nick. “You’re no more over me than I am over you.”

Phoebe and Taylor are sitting on the floor playing gin on the coffee table. Taylor wins again and remarks that she thinks she remembers Phoebe saying she will do housework until she is thirty and Taylor gets a pedicure every day for the rest of her life. Phoebe laughs and remarks that today is so different than yesterday. Taylor gets up and pours herself some water and answers that she is just trying to make it as normal as possible. Phoebe says but her grandmother scares her sometimes. Taylor offers that is just one of her personality traits. Phoebe guessed maybe it took someone other than them to know what the right thing to do was. And this is it, Taylor does believe that, doesn’t she? Taylor agrees as long as he doesn’t have to think too far ahead. Then she tells Phoebe about Hector being blind. She knows he’s not been the best influence on them, but he was coming from a protective place.

Someone slips into Hector’s room and he thinks he must be getting better as he doesn’t need a pain pill. It’s Stephanie who’s holding the morning paper with interesting story about hometown hero survives a tragic fire. He states that they should keep this short and sweet. And first of all, he’s glad she made Taylor see that sending herself to prison for the accidental death would be pointless and help no one. She remarks that basically she is concerned about her son’s happiness. He understands that – the mother lioness protecting her pride, but the question is what does that have to do with him?

Brooke tells Ridge she hates it when he acts like this. Does he think that she married Nick by accident? He grins that no, he thinks he is anti-accident. That Nick will tell her what he’s going to do two years from now before he even does it. She considers him ridiculing a man of his word. Ridge is sure she married Nick because of the thing that he failed to do, and that’s all Nick does. She tells him no, that isn’t ALL he does, but what’s wrong with being with a man who never walks out on her? He slams that he’s apologized enough for that to make them both sick. She wonders what he is doing with Donna? He points out that she asked him to move on with his life. And he gets a kick out of Donna. And maybe she’s not the ONE. He’s not really allowed to hope for that anymore. But, why shouldn’t he do what the hell he wants to? He confesses he is not ready to shut himself up with his microwave dinners and his broken heart for the rest of his life. She remarks no one is asking him to.......but him and Donna? He knows – she can’t stand it. He says, “but you know what, that’s tough.” Because he has a son he can’t come home to at night. And there’s a woman he loves more than anything and she loves him, but apparently that isn’t enough. “I’ve been to hell and back, Brooke, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life alone.” And he doesn’t have to, and it’s not fair of her to ask him of that anymore. She admits it isn’t fair, but it just hurts, that’s all. He asks what about him? Hearing her talk about being with Nick forever. If she could just feel what he feels. Exasperated, she walks out on him.

Phoebe feels some empathy for Hector but surmises he’s not as wonderful a friend as Taylor thought. He was obsessed and it was wrong of him to file a false report. Thorne asks if he is interrupting when Taylor lets him in. She explains they are just having a lazy girlfriend day. Phoebe excuses herself to go change. Thorne gets right to the point and asks if Taylor has an hour or so? He knows this sounds weird but he’d like her to drive with him to the cemetery. He’s made a decision and he’d mentally like to run it past Darla to be sure. She agrees and wants to go change also. She also accepts it when he says he thinks he made a good decision – he’s going to drop the investigation. He’s decided he is going to live his life without ever knowing who killed Darla.

Stephanie tells Hector she is thinking of the future, as they all should. He wonders what is in her crystal ball for him? She tells him she has been doing some research into a wonderful place, the best in the country – the Morlin Optical Institute. It helps the newly blind adjust to their lives. She doubts his insurance company would have mentioned it as they’d want to treat him locally. But, why shouldn’t he have the best? He’s been a good friend to them all. He asks is she offering to send him? And she replies only if the doctors, his doctors would agree that it’s a good idea and she can’t imagine that they wouldn’t think so. She can call the place and he could go next week. He asks where is this place and she answers Minnesota. “Fresh out of clinics for blind guys in Siberia, were they?” She feigns innocence. He remarks how would having him in Minnesota contribute to Thorne’s happiness? Although she remarks that one has nothing to do with the other. He knows better and points out that he’s missing a wife, she’s missing a husband. Remove him from the picture and it pretty well solves itself. “With a little luck from you. Better luck next time, Stephanie. I’m not going anywhere.”

Brooke comes home and throws her purse on the bed and grabs the remote and sits in front of the television and tunes in The Rich Ginger Show. We see the audience and the applause as Donna, Ridge and Felicia wait in the wings and the floor director gives orders. Felicia spots cups of coffee being delivered to the set and cautions them they want none of that in Donna’s hands. Smarmy Rich glides by cracking his jokes and boasting that he’s in the zone, can they tell? And then points to Donna that she’s next. Felicia introduces herself and he glibs that she sent over a fax, no questions about Ms. Logan’s private life. “Give me a break, sweetie, what are we going to talk about? Baseball? Ridge pulls him to the side and thinks he can straighten this out. Felicia questions what is he doing. She has seen that look before.

The doctor removes the bandages and examines Hector’s eyes, still no sight. Hector asks what should he expect so it will come as no shock? The doctor advises he may see some flashes, some patterns of light but it’s the eye relaxing after the pressure of the bandage. And he starts to tell him more about the Morlin Institute, but Hector says he’s not going anywhere. He tells him the social worker will discuss more options for him and he leaves. He quips Mrs. Forrester is more like an anti-social worker. She remarks that he is too late; the doctor already made his exit. He opines that he wouldn’t want to be alone. He has friends, so he doesn’t need Minnesota or her. She offers that she is glad he has friends to help him, but that Taylor isn’t going to be one of them.

When they return, Thorne thanks Taylor for going with him. She is glad she did. He tells her that often he just takes a folding chair and just sits and tells Darla how things have been going. He says he knows that almost sounds crazy, but guess it wouldn’t to her. He continues that it just helps remind him of who she was, how kind and gentle. And he knows she wouldn’t want him to feel like this….this being crazy over the driver that hit her. Doesn’t do anyone any good, especially Alexandria. “You know what, Taylor? I can let this investigation go. I can. But, until the day I die, I will never, ever stop hoping that whoever took her from me, doesn’t have one moment of peace. And I hope that bastard rots in hell.”

Hector tells Stephanie that it’s funny, but suddenly without his eyes she is so transparent. She is saving Thorne for Taylor; how sick! She rationalizes that at this point in their lives, they can help each other out. Beyond that…..He wonders what happens when he finds out? She replies who is going to tell him? She thought he was a better man than to play a card like that. He rattles, “of course you did. You’d rather have me off at some snowbank, reading the labels on my long johns in Braille.” She exudes she just doesn’t want him interfering in the natural course of events. He answers what is natural about pushing a man who just lost his wife into the arms of the woman who killed her? Holding her ground, she retaliates by telling him that his medication must have kicked in. Taylor doesn’t love him and she’s never going to love him. And the secret that they share will only destroy their lives and Phoebe’s. Every time Taylor sees his face, she will be reminded of what happened. If he persists, she will just end up hating him. It’s best if he just stays away. He asks or she’ll do what? She remarks that he’s had a difficult day so he ought to get some rest. She leaves and he grits his teeth and bangs his feet against the end of the bed.

Thorne tells Taylor that he’s only able to drop this investigation for this driver because of her. He faces her and explains that he can now look at his life…..his work….his family……his daughter….and think that is enough. He can move on. And that someday he is going to be happy again. Then he leans in and kisses her. But, immediately pulls back and tells her he is sorry. She tells him it’s alright. Weakly he smiles and leaves as they both feel somewhat unsettled.

Rich makes his opening intro, “the hottest model to hit the catwalk since….well, we had to hose down the makeup room, if that tells you anything.” There’s laughter and applause as he continues that she’s been making absolutely tidal waves following in her big sister’s footsteps….the latest sensation at Forrester Creations – Ms. Donna Logan. More applause and Ridge urges her on, she is like something they’ve never seen. She goes bouncing out to meet Rich. Ridge is grinning like a Cheshire Cat and Felicia wants to know whose head he is messing with – hers or Brooke’s? He knows Brooke is going to be watching and this will get a reaction out of her. And Donna obviously has a crush on him, so don’t use her.

He vows he is not messing around anymore. Felicia says it’s cruel. She knows he’s all about Brooke and she totally agrees with him. They belong together. But this is no way to go about it. And she wants to know what he’s up to. He states that his life has been ripped apart. He lost his wife, his son and his dignity. “Well, tonight out on that stage, I’m taking control again. One way or the other, one sister or the other, I’m moving on.” He boldly and proudly states, “my new life begins tonight.”
