The Bold & The Beautiful Update Monday 5/8/06

With Ridge lying on the floor, Stephanie is frantic and calls 911 to get an ambulance over to his office.

Before they were to become intimate, Dante presents Bridget with an engagement ring and proposes marriage. He tells her he loves her and has from the very first moment they met. He knows she was not ready in the past, that things were different between them. Now they are different and tonight she said she was ready. That she wanted him too. He repeats she is the only woman for him, and always will be, if she accepts this ring. If she says yes.

On the Marone jet, Nick pops a bottle of champagne and pours two glasses of the bubbly. Brooke emerges from the bathroom wearing an overly large mechanic’s jumpsuit. She remarks when he said he had something for her to slip into, this wasn’t exactly what she had in mind. He hands her the drink and they clink their glasses. He quips it never hurts to be prepared…….to get a little dirty. She returns that is the one thing that she has never been afraid of.

She walks away and his eyes follow as she peels off the suit to reveal a very shapely body in matching baby pink bra and panties, garter hose and stockings. He goes, “WOW.” She’s glad he likes it. With mouth agape, he walks toward her and kisses her, pushing her against the wall.

Stephanie bends over Ridge and says, “Sweetheart, can you hear me? The ambulance is on the way. Just stay with me.” Thorne bursts in and is shocked to see it’s Ridge. He says he saw the ambulance pull into the lot and security had said it came from this office.

Shortly, Hector and another paramedic come in and Stephanie offers that she thinks Ridge had a heart attack. He asks if he complained of any chest pains at all? She replies no, he just grabbed his heart and collapsed. Hector says they need to hook him up to oxygen and run the EKG meter. He checks his throat, listens to his breath and shines a pin light in his eyes. He talks to the dispatcher and tells them he has a patient who is non-responsive, an incoming code three with an unresponsive M.I. Stephanie asks what the hell is that? Hector tells her that as far as they know, she was right. Ridge is having a heart attack.

B

ridget is stunned. She fingers the ring in the box and faces a shirtless Dante and says they never talked about marriage. He reminds her they did talk about being a family. She says yes, parents to Dino. He thinks it’s more than that now that she has moved in with him, right? She puts him off by saying she’s not even divorced from Nick yet. He grins that doesn’t mean they can’t be engaged. They can take their time. Deal with the legal issues with Stephanie and Felicia. And they can plan the wedding…..if she accepts the proposal. Sadly, she tells him she can’t, she just can’t and she hands him back the box as she walks away.

Nick is turning back the covers on the gigantic king plus bed. Brooke calls for his help and he crawls across the bed all too eagerly. She needs help putting her hair up. Her back is turned from him, facing the mirror. She asks if he smells her perfume that she just put on? He likes that too. She turns and kisses him, ripping off his shirt, not bothering with the buttons. He tells her they are not flying commercial. They do have a bed. She feigns innocence, “really.” She goes and closes the door and the occupied sign comes on. (Yes, folks, it’s the mile high club, alive and well.)

Ridge is wheeled into the hospital and Christian meets them and asks Hector how Ridge is? Hector tells him his EKG is all over the place. Christian tells him the surgeon is waiting in Exam One. Stephanie grabs him and says she has to know he’s okay. Christian gives her enough time to say she’ll have to stay here, he’ll go with Ridge. Just for her to sit tight and he’ll come find her as soon as he knows something.

Very dejected, Dante sits as Bridget comes back in with her robe on. She tells him she is really, really sorry, but she’s just not ready to jump into another marriage (but a bed is ok). She explains that when she said she didn’t want to wait anymore, she meant she was ready to move forward to the next step of their relationship…..but she didn’t want to just jump to the end. Dante corrects her that marriage is not the end, but the beginning. She agrees, it’s a lifelong commitment…..at least that’s the way it’s supposed to be. But, it just wasn’t happening that way for her. Maybe it will, but right now she just needed something a little less intense. He gets up and says he’s sorry, guess he misunderstood. She comes to him and turns him around and lovingly touches him and tells him he didn’t misunderstand. Their relationship was changing. It’s been great; they were getting so much closer. She coos why would they want to rush that? They can just take their time and enjoy each other, and see where it goes. She pulls him to her for a kiss.

Some mighty heavy breathing is coming from that occupied space. Nick quips that he’s feeling lightheaded. Brooke states that her legs are shaky. And that he is the sexiest man she has ever made love to on an airplane. He bites her on the shoulder and laughs that is an honor to have that title. He opens the door and says they need a little mid-air. Then he tells her that her hair fell. He runs his fingers through it and says but he likes it messy. She teases that she likes his messy. He tells her that she is the sexiest woman he’s ever made love to on an airplane. She whispers that it’s an honor to have that title. Unbridled passion, Nick grabs the door and closes it again – OCCUPIED!

Ridge undergoes surgery and the surgeon banters to Christian that his friend is lucky to have made it to the operating table. Christian tells Ridge to hold on. His mother almost lost one child, she can’t lose him now.

Stephanie paces. Thorne rushes back to her and says he can’t locate his dad, but he left a message for him. Stephanie informs him that Ridge is in surgery, some sort of emergency procedure. Thorne assures her that Ridge is a strong man and he’ll pull through this. Grimly, she keeps repeating this is her fault. He says it’s not, but she says they were arguing. This time it was different. Brooke was packing her stuff, he came in, and he heard her say something to Brooke. He blamed Stephanie for driving away the one woman he really loved. She’s ruined his life. She says that’s the last words he said to her – she’d ruined his life!

He gets her to sit down and he holds her hand and tells her again this was not her fault. Or Brooke’s……and Ridge will pull through this. Christian walks up and Stephanie wants to know how Ridge is? He tells her that he is out of surgery and in recovery. He was sorry he hadn’t had time to come and explain, but he thought they’d want him to stay with Ridge. Concerned, she asks if it was a heart attack? He answers yes, but it was just a symptom of a much more dangerous problem. He goes on to explain that Ridge has a very serious cardiac defect. It’s called an aortic dissection (I’m told this is what killed actor, John Ritter) and it could have killed him instantly. She asks what is that? He tells her it’s a tear in the inner aortic wall. The blood gets in behind the tear, between the layers of the aortic wall, and therefore causes further tearing. She asks if it is a genetic defect? He says it’s usually associated with a history of high blood pressure, but a sudden blood pressure spike can also cause it, so it’s like a chain reaction, a potentially lethal one. There is a lot of pressure and if the aortic wall becomes weakened enough, it can rupture. But, they had caught it in time and the surgeon was able to patch the tear with a Gortex graft. She asks if he is going to be all right? Christian tells her they are going to watch him very carefully. The first 48 hours are very critical. He knows this does not sound like very good news, but under the circumstances, it could have been a lot worse.

Alone with Thorne, Stephanie continues berating herself for badgering Ridge and Brooke. She could have killed him. It was too much for him. He couldn’t take it any more.

Brooke sits in the bed talking to Catherine. She couldn’t shake this weird feeling that something was wrong, but is relieved that the kids are all right. Don’t wake them, just give them a big hug and a kiss and tell them she misses them.

Nick climbs in bed (black undies) and is carrying a huge tray of whipped cream and strawberries. He pushes one with cream on it toward Brooke. She declines with the cream so he eats it himself and hands her another without cream which she takes a bite of. He tells her he realizes it has been a very emotional day for her. She left Forrester, got into it with Stephanie. Maybe that was it. Every time Brooke was happy, Stephanie was there to ruin it. Now she’s not, and it might take a while for her to get used to that. She opines, “I just have to keep reminding myself that everything’s all right now. I have a great man who is completely devoted to me.” He gives her a quick kiss. “No more looking over my shoulder. Our future’s secure.” She takes another bite of a hand-fed strawberry. He tells her she has the added bonus of a mother-in-law who respects and adores her. She giggles as he pushes another bite at her and she bites it then kisses him.

Alone in his darkened room, lying lifelessly, Stephanie looks in on Ridge. She stares for a moment, then closes the door and stoically walks to his bedside. She smiles and kisses him on the forehead. She pulls up a small stool and bows her head almost in shame and says she is so sorry. She almost breaks up. She gives a big sigh and continues. She knows he hasn’t been her baby in a very long time….she just wants him to be happy…that’s what she wants for any of her kids…..just to be happy. Teary-eyed she whispers, please get better and please come back. Give her another chance to make this up to him.

Brooke and Nick snuggle in bed, drowning under the heavy covers. She tells Nick she is so relieved to have Stephanie Forrester out of her life. Nick says he hates to say this, but she is probably saying the same thing about Brooke. Brooke calls her a stubborn old woman. He asks do they have to talk about her? She says she can’t believe she actually thought she could ever win her over. Today she finally realized she couldn’t and never would. “Nothing in this whole world could get Stephanie to accept me.”

Stephanie continues with Ridge that she is there. Whatever he needs, she is there for him. She needs him to be okay, happy and healthy. She’ll do whatever it takes. Ridge moans, tries to talk. Stephanie perks up and leans closer, down to his mouth as he utters one word twice, “Brooke……..Brooke.”
