The Bold & The Beautiful Update Wednesday 1/11/06

Next day after New Year’s, Ridge wakes up on his office couch at Forrester (with his cowboy shirt, what’s up with that? That’s never ever been in the dressmaker's repertoire before). Brooke walks in unexpectedly and of course she doesn’t know Ridge is there, but sizes up the situation and figures Taylor told him her news. He states he didn’t know that she knew! Brooke offers well, she had walked in on Taylor and Hector. He shakes his head, partly to wake up, and retorts that Taylor told him a lot of things, but that wasn’t one of them. Brooks surmises that since he slept there, she takes it his talk with Taylor didn’t go so well.

At Marone Industries, a Laurie David sits talking with Massimo and Nick about global warming. He reminds her that while he is aware of these programs and thinks this is all good, he is a businessman. He has employees to take care of, stockholders to answer to. She emphasizes that environmental thinking and free enterprise are not exclusive. Nick seems to be leaning toward her thinking and tells his Pop that this will end up costing them a hell of a lot less in the long run. “This is our world, OUR world that we are handing off to our children. Now you tell me how we measure that cost?”

At Tridge Manor, a pensive Taylor, who looks like she has not slept all night, stands staring blankly out the window. Stephanie knocks on the door then lets herself on it, calling out Taylor’s name. Finally she sees her standing across the room and goes to her asking if she has gotten her messages? She replies no……but that it was good to have Ridge home. Even better than she thought it would be. He even apologized for staying away so long……they had made love……. Steph deduces that everything is all right. Taylor shakes her head and her voice cracks as she reports that she told him about James, and he walked out on her and she whimpers that he’s not ever coming back!

Brooke is trying to understand….if it was just ONE kiss. He says it was more the hypocrisy. She asks if it was more than one kiss? She was afraid of that. He offers that Taylor had kept it from him for years. Not Hector. Brooke is aghast – somebody else? Ridge tells her it was James…….James Warrick. Brooke says no, she can’t believe they slept together!

Massimo tells Nick that he’s very passionate about this. Laurie adds that his son has a very good point. They all have a responsibility to keep the planet healthy. As individuals they can all do their part by driving hybrid cars so they can reduce the electricity by unplugging the chargers from the wall and using energy efficient appliances. “It’s not about doing everything, but about doing something!", she states. And he has an even greater opportunity to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that is causing global warming.

Mass asks Nick how come he never brought this up before? Quickly he says he never was a father before. And now he’s thinking a little bit differently. It’s his watch, and he doesn’t want his kid to ask years from now why he didn’t do something about global warming. He’s just not going to have it. Then he jumps onto the subject of fish, the mercury in them, and he’s not going to feed his pregnant wife what he catches! He tries to persuade his father to come on, let’s do what they can to turn this thing around. Mass laughs and tells them ‘environmentalists’ they don’t know what it takes to keep a business running. She says they should all be environmentalists, and she understands he has a bottomline. But, the truth is green means green. He’ll save money by reducing the carbon dioxide emissions, he’ll help slow global warmings and other companies will follow his lead. Nicks adds there are a lot of different ideas they can implement. Mass complies and says if his son believes in her, he’ll do what he can. Send him a report. She thanks him and he tells her not to thank him, but Dominick, because he’s going to have to answer for every penny! She does thank Nick and he gives it back by saying thanks to her for making him see to do the right thing.

With her mouth agape, Ridge fills Brooke in on the Big Bear Boink. It was during the earthquake and apparently James was a virgin. His dying wish was to make love with Taylor. And being the saint, she couldn’t deny him. At least that was the story she had told him. Something Taylor wouldn’t do, but she did. And somehow she just sort of got it in her head that it never ever happened. She comments that it’s bad enough to have someone cheat on you, but then to lie about it! He should have been told. Taylor, the woman of decency. Just beyond them is a huge poster of the new Forrester logo with Taylor’s innocent face. He wonders what she learned from her mistake? To be more understanding to others? Treat others with more tolerance…..fairness? That isn’t how she treated Brooke, is it?

She nods no and says she knows how much honesty means to him. He answers that she has always known what he about, and what he needed in a wife. She says he needed someone to trust. He continues, that when they were together there were never any lies, never any secrets. They had this deep connection because they always knew they could depend on each other. She tells him she thought he had that with Taylor too. He remarks that so did he! “She was perfection.” Brooke adds and only reinforced by Stephanie. “Taylor, the perfect little angel. Just wait until she finds out that Taylor’s feet are made of clay like the rest of us. Oh, I would love to be there when she finds out that news.” She’s shocked when he tells her she already knows.

Stephanie looks to the high Heavens and asks Taylor why, why did she tell him? Taylor can only say that she was trying to be honest with her husband, and get her marriage back on track. She confides to Stephanie that she told him about Hector first, and the kiss. And he forgave her. Stephanie asks – but not James? Well, she has to get him to understand. Taylor says no, he even forgave her about James. Then Stephanie doesn’t understand, what is the problem? Taylor laments that for one thing, it is the hypocrisy, the years of the lie she has been living…..and he’s right. Stephanie says no, that’s ridiculous. She points out that she’s been walking around letting everyone think she is without sin…..and she wasn’t. Stephanie grabs her and shakes her, it was ONE mistake in a whole lifetime. Taylor cries that she knew the difference in right and wrong. Ridge depended on that. He trusted her; he loved her. And what did she do? She violated their marriage. She shouts that she made a mistake and then she made it worse by covering it up. She flings her arms, but worse than that, she mistreated Brooke, and that’s what he can never forgive. How harshly she has judged her, and that makes Taylor no better than her.

Stephanie makes the analogy that both pigs and horses are mammals, but that’s ALL they have in common. Taylor thinks there were too many years that she railed against Brooke, judging her, acting morally superior. Stephanie tells her she IS! Taylor spits out but at least Brooke admits her mistakes, and tries to make them right. She admits she deserves for Ridge to leave her. Stephanie grabs her rather roughly and tells her not to even go there. What they have to do is act quickly. They have to salvage this marriage. Taylor fires back that it isn’t up to them, it’s up to Ridge. Steph understands. That is why she is going to go talk to him. “Now, clean yourself up. When he comes home…..and he will….I want him to remember all the reasons he has for forgiving you.” Taylor rebukes that he won’t listen to Stephanie. He knows she knew about James and covered it up. She points her finger at her and says she will take care of that. In the meantime, they are NOT going to let this fester because if they do Brooke will make her move and she will never get her out of there. Looking her dead in the eye, Steph says, “I’m not going to let her destroy everything you love and YOU deserve.”

Nick is happy. He claps for Massimo. While Mass tells him that he’s going to be the death of Marone Industries. Does he have any idea how much this is going to cost them? Nick chides him that it is money well spent. He’ll be making a better place for HIS grandkids. Mass asks, speaking of which, how is Bridget? Nick confides that probably going a little crazy. She is bed-ridden but happy and doing okay. He boasts that it’s a rare thing but both his sons are happy, both their lives are on track at the same time; must mean something. Nick laments that well his life is in a good place, but he doesn’t know if he can stay the same about Ridge. Mass asks what does he mean? Nick reminds him that Ridge didn’t come home for the holidays. Mass understands, and maybe it was the wrong decision, but as a businessman himself, sometimes business has to come first. “Otherwise, where do you get all the money to throw away on the flavor-of-the-day causes?" Nick adds that it is a little more than that. Mass again asks what does he mean; what is he saying? Nick wants to clam up now, saying it’s not his to say (me thinks he should have thought of this; ALL of them should have thought of this sooner. Why are they blabbing?) Mass wants details now, what is this all about? Even though Nick tells him again this shouldn’t be coming from him. Quickly he fills him in. On New Year’s Eve, Brooke took R.J. over to Ridge’s house. That is what he wanted, but he wasn’t there. Hector was with Taylor. Mass sees nothing wrong with that; they are friends. Nick adds that Brooke caught them in the bedroom……they were kissing.

So Brooke knows now that is why Stephanie was so nervous about her talking to Ridge. She knew about Taylor and James. He adds and from the beginning. Brooke says, “that witch!” She can’t believe this. Stephanie was defending Taylor and attacking Brooke at every turn. He continues his rant – Taylor made it seem like she was different; she was better. And the thing that hurts the most is the way she treated Logan. She hounded him about his feeling for her and almost made him feel guilty for acknowledging them.

Stephanie walks toward this office and hears the next remark that Brooke makes. She offers that she understands why he chose Taylor. She believed the same things about her that he did. But, to renew his vows in front of his mother who was faking a heart attack….and to a woman who was cheating on him and lying to him! He asks how can he forgive that?

Mass opines – Taylor Forrester – a woman of decency and virtue. Nick quickly adds, but she was kissing another man. Mass defends by saying what is important here is that Ridge and Taylor work this out immediately. They have children; they have got to protect the family. Nick states that Ridge has walked away from a family before. Mass knows he means Hope and R.J. Nick says that between the two of them, when the dust settles, he’d like to know where Brooke is going to be in all of this? (now, that’s the $64,000 question).

Stephanie listens as Ridge says he thought the ground beneath him was solid. But, it was shifted and left him nothing to hold onto at all. One person’s love for him, that he never doubted, was just a mirage. He feels like all he has is but air. She softly states there is one other person that doesn’t judge him or keep secrets from him; just wants to be with him; to love him……..their son, R.J. His love for him is very, very pure. Ridge smiles and says he has missed him. She suggests that he go to him then, spend some time with him. It will be good for R.J. and certainly not hurt Ridge either. He says it will do him the world of good. So she tells him she will finish up and they can meet at her house later. He thanks her with a big hug. She kisses him on the cheek. He gives her a long look as if he wants to really kiss her but then doesn’t.

Of course, as soon as he rounds the corner, Stephanie steps into the office and fires at Brooke that she told her to stay out of that marriage. Brooke tells her to get out; she has a lot of work to do. Sarcastically, Stephanie says she can just imagine the WORK that she has to do. Hovering over him like some vulture, hoping the marriage will break up so she can swoop in and pick up the little pieces. Brooke retorts that is a lovely image. Steph adds that they are going to make this relationship work, so Brooke just needs to back off and stay away! Brooke reminds her they do NOT have a marriage; just deception and betrayal, all orchestrated by Stephanie! But, at least now Ridge knows what kind of person she is, and he can base his decision on that!

Stephanie tells her, “the only decision he is going to make is to keep this marriage. He is NOT……..NOT going back to you. So get that out of your head.“ Brooke argues that she doesn’t care what he does about his marriage. That is his business, but all she cares about is they finally know the truth! That she and Taylor are the biggest hypocrites this world has ever produced! She slams down a folder, she has been holding, hard on the desk.

Stephanie makes a face and mocks, “Oh, really.”
