Jack: Oops. Sorry.

Livvie: It's ok.

Jack: Yeah, yeah, I kind of lost my balance.

Livvie: Yeah. Well, no harm, no foul, right? I should probably -- oh, I should probably be on my way.

Jack: Yeah.

Livvie: Yeah. Well, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Jack: Yeah, it was fun.

Livvie: Ok.

Jack: Oh, you idiot! What are you doing? You got to be kidding me. Oh, you can't be doing that, Jack. You can't be doing that. You're supposed to be trying to get her worked up so that she can steal the ring from Caleb so that I can get my hands back on it. And now I blew it. Now I blew it. Wait a second -- the box. There's some-- somebody looking out there for me.

Jack: Hey -- uh, you forgot this.

Livvie: Yeah.

Jack: It is why you came back, right? To kind of go through your things?

Livvie: Right.

Jack: Look, I'm glad that I caught you before you left. Livvie, I want to be -- I want to be honest with you.

Livvie: Really? Ok.

Jack: In there, I didn't lose my balance. I almost kissed you. And you almost let me.

Livvie: Um, Jack, it's ok. You know, that's what happens when people talk about old memories and stuff. It's not really a problem.

Jack: No, no, no, no, it's not ok. It's not because of the pictures, not because of the memories. There's only one reason why this was a possibility, and that's because of Caleb.

Caleb: So you think you can handle this? Being my friend?

Alison: Do you think that you can?

Caleb: I like a challenge.

Alison: Well, just remember that none of your fancy little tricks will work on me.

Caleb: Is there still time to back out? You have to be patient with me, Alison. This is going to be new territory for me. Friendship is -- it's rare in my world.

Alison: And why do you think that that is?

Caleb: With my own kind, having friends just seems kind of trivial. And with mortals, I could never trust any of you.

Alison: Well, maybe you think too little of human nature.

Caleb: Maybe you think too much of it.

Alison: Well, maybe we can both learn something.

Caleb: Maybe. Although I pretty much think I've seen everything.

Alison: Oh, come on now, you haven't seen me. Well, anyway, I think I'm going to go because Rafe is probably waiting for me.

Caleb: Yeah, I'm sure he is.

Alison: And I'm sure Livvie isn't really ready for any of this -- you know, you and me and the whole trust thing.

Caleb: Yeah, there's going to be challenges for everyone.

Jamal: Imani, what the hell happened to you?

[Jamal growls]

Rafe: Jamal!

[Captioning made possible by ABC, Inc.]

Jamal: That's a bad move. You could've gotten yourself killed, brother.

Rafe: Yeah, you know what, you, too.

Jamal: Yeah, ok.

Rafe: What's going on here? What happened?

Jamal: I don't know. Imani's in some kind of trouble, I guess. I thought she was with some guy that's been chasing her around town.

Rafe: Whoa, whoa, whoa, what guy? What guy, huh?

Jamal: Some guy that's been smacking her around. She was with him for a while. Anyways, I got to find her before he does, ok? Actually, you know what? You can help me with this.

Rafe: No, no, no.

Jamal: Rafe --

Rafe: No, I'm not going to look for anybody and neither are you. You and me -- we're going to walk out of here right now.

Jamal: What do you mean, walk out of here? Imani's in trouble, dude. She's somebody that I care about. Haven't you heard anything I just said?

Rafe: Yeah, yeah, I heard you.

Jamal: Haven't you been listening to me?

Rafe: I heard you. But here's the thing -- it's time for you to make believe that you never met this girl. Ok?

Jamal: God.

Rafe: Now, you're going to have to trust me on this. Jamal, let her go.

Man: I was looking for apartment 5b.

Caleb: 5b? Who do you work for?

Man: Nobody.

Caleb: I think you're mistaken. You're a nobody --

Man: That's not exactly true.

Caleb: And you're about to become even less.

Alison: Ok, let's keep this really friendly, ok? What is your name?

Man: Ja-- Jason Powell, freelancer.

Caleb: Well, Jason Powell, freelancer, you're invading my privacy.

Jason: You're a celebrity. It goes with the territory.

Caleb: Well, we're going to change those rules. You see, I have something to protect. You might have seen her -- gorgeous brunette about this tall, very sensitive -- and if she was to see a photograph of me with another woman, well, it might hurt her feelings. And when her feelings get hurt, well, then other people get hurt. Do you understand my meaning?

Alison: I think what Mr. Clay is suggesting, that if you give him the film, then maybe bygones will be bygones.

Caleb: That's a nice camera.

Jason: You know, I could sue you for destruction of personal property.

Caleb: You do that, I'll tell you what -- you can sue me from hell.

Alison: No, don't do this. Come on, please don't!

Caleb: It's too late!

Alison: Stop it! Look, I'm not worried about him, I'm worried about you. Knock it off!

Livvie: Why are you making such a big deal about it? Nothing even happened?

Jack: Oh, come on, Livvie, you know better than that.

Livvie: Jack, you don't know anything about me and Caleb, ok?

Jack: Oh, I do know all this talk about eternal love, being soul mates, and still you are unhappy. And every time Caleb treats you bad, you always end up over at my house on my couch.

Livvie: Are you nuts? You're the one who came on to me, and you know it.

Jack: You think I want to go back to that? No, there's no way I'm going to go back down that road.

Livvie: Oh, my gosh. Well, look at you. You can't get over the fact that I chose Caleb over you, can you?

Jack: Are you trying to convince yourself or are you trying to convince me?

Livvie: Take a good look, Jack. I know why I left, you know why I left, but what about Tess? What about Reese? What about any other woman in your life? Why is it that you can't seem to make a relationship work for more than five minutes?

Jack: How much time do you got?

Livvie: Oh, we don't need a lot of time. Maybe you weren't enough for them, either.

Jack: Come on, Livvie. I saw the way you were looking at me inside. Basically trapped me on the ground.

Livvie: Please. You are the one who came out here to stop me.

Jack: You're good but you're not that good, and I've definitely had better.

Livvie: Oh, I don't think so, and I bet you anything that what you want to do right now, you didn't have the guts to do inside.

Jack: Is that right?

Livvie: Yeah, that's right.

Jamal: You got five seconds, Rafe, to tell me what this is all about.

Rafe: The short version -- it's about the ring.

Jamal: Oh. Well, that's your problem?

Rafe: Jamal, all these so-called instant wishes -- they're turning dangerous.

Jamal: Rafe, this is crazy.

Rafe: Uh-huh. Ever hear the story of "The Monkey's Paw"?

Jamal: No, but this ought to be interesting.

Rafe: All right. See, there's this thing, and it makes everybody's wishes come true. The only trouble is, it's actually a curse. And all the wishes -- they start turning against everybody, and the fallout from it gets worse and worse and worse. See, now, that's Caleb's ring. Now, you got Lucy, Jack, even little Christina -- they all made wishes.

Jamal: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

Rafe: And then there's you. You actually made the first wish. And what was that? You wish for the girl of your dreams? Then what happens? Imani literally dropped into your lap.

Jamal: So what?

Rafe: You don't know who she is. You don't know where she came from. All you know about her is her room is a wreck. She walks out on you, and she's got some guy chasing after her for god knows what reason. And by the way, there's some very interesting nasty marks on that window over there, and you, my friend, are struck in the middle of it all.

Jamal: You know, just stop, all right, because this is like a big joke. Rafe, it really is. I mean, coming from somebody like you who has to get up every single morning and worry about if someone's trying to kill him or not.

Rafe: Ok, whatever. All I'm saying is there are all kinds of curses.

Jamal: Well, Imani -- she's not a curse. She's just a young girl who's frightened.

Rafe: Ok.

Jamal: And she needs my help, and you are in my way.

Rafe: Ok, ok, wait a second. Wait a second. You know what, if you really need to find her, if it's really that important, I'll help you. I'll help you.

Jamal: Oh, hell, no. No --

Rafe: Why are you laughing? I will.

Jamal: No. You don't trust her, and I don't trust you -- not with this. Get out of my way.

Livvie: Get your hands off of me.

Jack: What? Go on, Livvie, you seem a little shook up.

Livvie: Jack, why are you being such a jerk?

Jack: Come on, you just told me I didn't have the guts to do it, and I did it. Why are you complaining?

Livvie: Because we were having a really good time for the first time in a long time and then you had to ruin it, and I have no idea why.

Jack: Because you hate the truth.

Livvie: What truth, Jack?

Jack: About you and Caleb. You know what, I know the problem with your relationship.

Livvie: I don't have to listen to this.

Jack: No, no, no, no. See, you will because you know I'll tell you the truth. See, Caleb's way up here in the clouds and we're all way down here, and we're supposed to bow at his altar, including his little, precious Olivia.

Livvie: He has me on a pedestal.

Jack: Oh, you think he worships you? No, you're his little trophy over here in the corner, just so you don't cause him any trouble.

Livvie: Oh.

Jack: Oh, and you think that you're equal? Nobody's equal to him in his eyes.

Livvie: You are so jealous, it's ridiculous.

Jack: Ok, then why does it never work with you guys, huh? Why are you still here?

Livvie: You know what's really funny about all this? You giving me love advice. I mean, if I want to hear some psychobabble, I'll make an appointment with my father. Get out of my way now, ok?

Jack: No, no. The evidence is the ring.

Livvie: What are you talking about?

Jack: He who has the ring has the power, and that would be Caleb.

Livvie: No, we have the ring, and we will use it to our advantage.

Jack: I don't see it on you anywhere.

Livvie: It belongs to both of us.

Jack: For right now. But with your track record, you won't be lasting through eternity. See, Livvie, Caleb is going to wake up and see that you're high maintenance, and then some blond is going to turn his head and he's going to jump at it. And when he does leave, he's going to take the ring with him and you're going to be left with nothing.

Livvie: You have no idea what you're talking about.

Jack: Consider me your wake-up call. Caleb has all the power. He doesn't trust you with the ring and he never will. He wants it all for himself.

Livvie: I am sick of the sound of your voice.

Jack: What about your stuff?

Livvie: I don't need memories of us, Jack. I have a real life. Why don't you keep it.

Alison: Let go.

Caleb: Get out of here. Get out of here!

Alison: Ok. Well, that was certainly very stupid.

Caleb: Oh, you are so naive if you think our friendship is going to change my nature somehow. You know what? It's been tried before, and to be honest with you, I like who I am.

Alison: Yeah, I know you do. And I know what you're capable of. I know you don't exactly kill people for sport. Not because you've become all gentle, but because you know that there's no upside to it. If somebody were to get a hold of that kind of information, that you harmed that photographer, your cover would be completely blown.

Caleb: So what's it to you?

Alison: What do you mean, what is it to me? It has been a long time since you've had a friend, huh? Well, I'll tell you somethin friends -- they tell people things that they don't necessarily want to hear, but maybe it's because it's for the good, so it would help them in some way. And I probably better go before your little "sensitive" brunette comes home.

Alison: Ahem.

Caleb: Hey.

Alison: Yes?

Caleb: Drive carefully.

Alison: I'll do that.

Caleb: I owe you.

Alison: For what?

Caleb: You're right. I -- if I would've let that jerk get to me, I might have done something that would have caused problems. Thanks for looking out for me.

Alison: No problem. I will put it on your tab.

Jamal: Imani!

Jamal: You're making this hard on me. I told you I'd protect you, so that's what I got to do, right?

Alison: Hey, Rafe.

Rafe: Hi.

Alison: You're here.

Rafe: Hey.

Alison: Hey. Listen -- look, I know you're not going to be very happy with me, but I already went to go see --

Rafe: Caleb.

Alison: Caleb.

Rafe: Yeah, I know. Well, that's what you said you were going to do.

Alison: But you didn't try to stop me or anything, so --

Rafe: Well, that's -- we talked about it, right? I mean, part of the team now, it's our battle, right?

Alison: Yes, yes, we did.

Rafe: All right. What's the matter? You seem kind of surprised that I actually listen to you when you talk.

Alison: No, I'm not surprised at all. Ok.

Rafe: So tell me what happened.

Alison: Right. Ok, so it couldn't have gone better if I would have orchestrated it myself. I had Caleb believing in the whole sort of friendship thing, and as if I had to illustrate my intentions, a photographer showed up outside of his apartment, trying to capture pictures of us in incriminating positions, really.

Rafe: A photographer? Really?

Alison: Yeah, but it didn't -- it didn't get very bad. I mean, I sort of talked him down before it broke out into some big thing.

Rafe: Good, good. That sounds pretty dangerous.

Alison: No, I don't really think it was. I think he was starting to show off a little bit, but I think it did convince him of my concern for his welfare.

Rafe: So you're ok?

Alison: Yeah, I'm really good, but I think that I'm really late cause I need to meet my mother, and she really hates it when I'm late. She gets really mad at me. So I'll see you at home, ok?

Rafe: Yeah, I'll see you there.

Alison: Ok.

Jason: Is it ok?

Rafe: Oh, yeah, the coast is clear.

Jason: You didn't tell me this guy was insane.

Rafe: Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that he can be a little erratic.

Jason: He's dangerous. You're not paying me enough for this.

Rafe: You know what? I'm not paying you to be paparazzi, either. You're supposed to watch the girl, that's it!

Jason: Uh-uh. You're on your own.

Livvie: Hi. What are you up to?

Caleb: Waiting for this beautiful woman to come walking through my door.

Livvie: Will I do?

Caleb: Will you do what?

Livvie: Anything for you?

Caleb: Show me.

Livvie: Go get comfortable. Sit down. I got this.

Caleb: Yeah?

Livvie: Mm-hmm.

Caleb: How was your night?

Livvie: Pretty uneventful. How about yours?

Caleb: The same. I wanted to rehearse, but I couldn't track down any of the band.

Livvie: That's funny. You'd think they'd have cell phones and pagers by now, huh?

Caleb: Mmm hmm. How about you? Where'd you go?

Livvie: Well, I stopped home for a minute, and you weren't here. I even tried to call, and I decided to go run a few errands instead.

Caleb: Beautiful, isn't it?

Livvie: Will you let me feel it?

Caleb: Not tonight, sweetheart.

Caleb: I missed you.

Jack's voice: Some blond is going to turn his head, and he's going to jump at it. And when he does leave, he's going to take the ring with him and you're going to be left with nothing.

>> On the next "Port Charles" --

Reese: This is real.

Jamal: How the heck did you leave scratch marks like that in the windowsill?

Imani: They're not mine.

Jamal: Have you seen your nails? They're torn, they're bloody.

Rafe: It's the ring. You want it for yourself now, don't you?
