Ricky: You ok?

Karen: Yeah.

Ricky: Come on, you -- you know you didn't belong there. You would have left on your own.

Karen: I don't know what I would have done. How'd you know?

Ricky: What?

Karen: That I didn't want to be there?

Ricky: I just knew.

Karen: Thanks.

Kevin: I have to get back to Lucy.

Ian: I have to get back to Lucy.

Lucy: Doc? Doc, it's working again. You're back, Doc. It's working. Talk to me. Tell me where you are. Please talk to me. Listen, I'm right here. You can do it. Please, talk to me.

Kevin: You said you wanted me to believe in magic. Well, now's your chance. Help me get out of here!

Rebecca: I keep telling you, there's nothing I can do. I -- I can't fix this.

Kevin: No, you have to! You don't understand. When Lucy married me, she took a huge leap of faith. I told her I'd never leave her again. I couldn't if I wanted to. She's a part of me. I told her that she would spend the rest of her life by my side. I promised Lucy --

Ian: We'd dance on the top of the --

Kevin: Lighthouse on our --

Ian: Golden anniversary.

Kevin: I promised her.

Lucy: Oh, my God. Doc. Oh, my Doc.

Chris: Yes, I got your messages, all of them.

Doree: Then why haven't you called me back?

Chris: Well, you know, it's just the life of a doctor. Emergencies, things coming up.

Doree: Kind of like the life of a cop.

Chris: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Look, I'm sorry. Things have just been hectic lately.

Doree: And I can understand that -- as long as that's all it is. We're ok, right?

Chris: Yeah, sure.

Doree: Good, because I've never felt this way about anyone. It's been kind of driving me crazy.

Chris: Yeah. I know what you mean.

Doree: Oh. Well, I knew you felt the same way. I knew it wasn't just me.

Chris: Ok. Oh, hey.

Doree: Come on, let's find the nearest elevator.

Chris: You know what? I'm really trying to do some work here.

Doree: Well, I'm off tonight, so I'll just wait.

Chris: Ok.

Chris: Careful what you wish for, Ramsey.

Lucy: I love you. Oh, Doc, I love you. Please, help me find you. Tell me how to find you. Give me a clue.

Ian: Lucy, it's me. Kevin's gone.

Lucy: No. No, that can't be. He was just -- he was right here. He was just right here. Ian, he told me something that he told me on our wedding night when we were finally alone. He said we were going to dance together on our golden wedding anniversary. That's why I know he was here. He can't be gone. He was right here.

Ian: I'm sorry -- I'm sorry I couldn't hold on. I'm sorry.

Lucy: Oh, my God, are you ok?

Ian: I'm fine.

Lucy: No, you're not fine. What is it? What -- what's happening?

Ian: Just a little shaken, that's all. Not every day you have somebody living in your head, you know.

Lucy: I'm so sorry. I apologize. I know I'm asking you an awful lot.

Ian: You would have done the same to me. We got to --

[pager beeps]

Ian: We got to find Kevin.

Lucy: No -- you have to go? What is that?

Ian: It's the hospital. I got to go, ok?

Lucy: Well, are you sure you're all right?

Ian: I'm fine.

Lucy: All right, well, I'll call you later and --

Ian: Ok.

Ian: What the hell is happening to me?

Rebecca: Believe me, I know better than anyone how excruciating it is to be trapped between two worlds.

Kevin: Then help me.

Rebecca: I keep telling you, I can't. The candle that Alison's so-called friend threw away has to be lit. Nothing short of that will send you back.

Kevin: Wait -- wait a minute. You're saying that anyone can find that candle and light it and that would bring me back?

Rebecca: No. The person who lights the candle has to believe that it will work.

Kevin: Beautiful. Great. More witchcraft.

Rebecca: You know what? It's labels like that that started this whole mess over 100 years ago!

Kevin: Well, I got into this whole mess because of what you did, didn't I?

Rebecca: I panicked when I saw you closing Alison's shop. I saw history flash before my eyes, and I was so afraid for her. I knew that people like your daughter would be calling it witchcraft when that's not what it is!

Kevin: Then what is it?

Rebecca: It's the power of believing. When people stopped believing that magical things can happen, that love and hope and, yes, even a candle have the power to heal, then so much of their heart, so much of life will remain closed to them. What?

Kevin: Nothing. You just sounded exactly like my wife for a minute. And you have no idea how much I believe it because of her. She has brought me back from the dark places in my life more times than I can count. She's given me hope beyond reason more times than that. And most importantly, it's because of her that I believe in love.

Rebecca: If I were able to reunite the two of you, I would. I can see how heartbroken your wife was, as well.

Kevin: What? You saw her?

Rebecca: Yeah. Right before the portrait was slashed, she came to see me. She was so sad. I wanted so badly to return you to her.

Kevin: Then why didn't you?

Rebecca: Because I didn't think they'd believe me. I didn't think your wife would believe enough in the candle to make it work, so I thought I should wait for Alison.

Kevin: Of all the people who would believe, Lucy is the one!

Rebecca: Yes, I understand that now, now that you've told me about her.

Kevin: She must be going crazy wondering where I am.

Rebecca: Tell me more about her. How did this -- this great love of yours come to be?

Kevin: It's a long story.

Rebecca: Well, I'm not going anywhere. Please. I haven't heard a good love story in a while.

Ricky: So we're ok then, you and me?

Karen: Ricky, there is no you and me.

Ricky: Sure there is. You know that. Karen, what's wrong with us hooking up?

Karen: Where do I begin?

Ricky: You begin by forgetting that you're a couple of years older than me, by forgetting about Frank and Casey, and forget about the past couple of weeks.

Karen: That's impossible.

Ricky: Just for a minute, Karen. Just -- just pretend that we're two people who are meeting for the first time.

Karen: This is ridiculous, ok?

Ricky: No, no, no, it's not. Come on, just do it. I'm not leaving till you do.

Karen: Oh, Ricky. Ok, fine. Fine, ok? I just met you, and I think you're attractive. A little charming. A little rough around the edges. A little dangerous, but even so, I feel safe when I'm with you. And you act tough, but you're kind and open. I don't think you'd ever judge or --

Ricky: Or hurt you? No, never. So it sounds pretty good -- attractive, charming, kind, open.

Karen: Which is why I'm wondering why would he not be out there having a good time with girls his own age?

Ricky: You really don't get it, do you?

Karen: Get what?

Ricky: How incredible you are.

Karen: Oh, God, Ricky, don't.

Ricky: No, no, no, no, no. See, sorry, but this is my turn. You want me to tell you what I see?

Karen: No.

Ricky: I see this person who was dealt a lousy hand, but you didn't let it stop you. Ok? You followed your dream and you became a doctor. You know how amazing that is?

Karen: You know, I don't want a pep talk.

Ricky: This isn't a pep talk. It's the truth, Karen. What's even more amazing is that even though you've had all these guys in your life who have hurt you, you haven't given up on people. I mean, God knows, I've messed up a lot, and people around here wrote me off from the beginning, but you didn't. You gave me a chance. I have never met anybody like you, Karen. And that's why I'm sitting right here next to you. I don't want to be anywhere else.

Lucy: You may have made Doc disappear, but we found a way to reach out to each other, didn't we? Because our love is that strong, and we have always forever found a way back to each other. And this time, it's not going to be any different.

Christina: Mommy?

Lucy: Oh, hey, sleepyhead. What are you doing out of bed?

Christina: Mommy?

Lucy: Uh-huh?

Christina: I miss Daddy.

Lucy: Oh, sweet pea, I miss him, too.

Rebecca: Your lighthouse sounds rather grand. Is that where you proposed to Lucy?

Kevin: No.

Rebecca: What's so funny?

Kevin: Actually, I proposed to her in a broom closet.

Rebecca: A broom closet?

Kevin: Mm-hmm. At the hospital. With the mops and the bottles of bleach, I asked her to be my wife.

Rebecca: How unique. But I guess it never really matters where you are when you're in love.

Kevin: Yeah, that's the theory I was going with.

Rebecca: So let me guess -- you got down on one knee in the overcrowded broom closet, and Lucy leapt into your arms overjoyed and said yes.

Kevin: No. It's never that simple with Lucy.

Lucy's Voice: Doc, did I just hear you say what I think I heard you say? Did you just -- propose to me?

Kevin's Voice: As a matter of fact, I did. And now you say --

Lucy's Voice: No. No, I'm sorry, no.

Kevin's Voice: No?

Lucy's Voice: No, I'm -- no, I can't. I mean, I'm sorry I can't marry you. You know, you just asked me because I'm mad at you and because I feel bad. So you just asked me because you thought I'd feel better. That's why you did it. Do you know your mommy was so very stubborn. Your daddy could have just left me in that room with all my pride and all my stubbornness, but he didn't. And I thought I could run away. But then I realized the door was locked, so I couldn't run away. At least, I thought the door was locked.

Kevin's Voice: So, ok.

[Lucy sighs]

Lucy's Voice: So, ok.

Kevin's Voice: Ok.

Lucy's Voice: Ok.

Kevin's Voice: "Ok," what?

Lucy's Voice: You talked me into it.

Kevin's Voice: Wait a minute. Now you're saying yes?

Lucy's Voice: Well -- it's not a bad idea. I mean, if you think about it, it's actually a very good idea. And you're an idea man. You know, you always come up with good ideas, and you're always right when you're right, you know? And so I think you're really right, and besides, we really -- we really do love each other.

Kevin's Voice: Right.

Lucy's Voice: Right, and, you know, we have never, ever been happy in our lives ever before.

Kevin's Voice: Right.

Lucy's Voice: Right, and so if you want to just shout it from the rooftops that you're madly in love with someone or even shout it from a darn broom closet, you should be able to do that, right?

Kevin's Voice: Right.

Lucy's Voice: Do you know what I mean?

Kevin's Voice: Do you mean, like -- we've been through more than any two people have a right to go through and still survive it? Is that what you mean?

Lucy's Voice: Yeah, yeah, right.

Kevin's Voice: Or do you mean that we've held on for so long that our connection's unbreakable?

Lucy's Voice: Right.

Kevin's Voice: Well, it's like you're saying that there's really no one else that we trust to go through life's screeching turns with. Or that there's no one else that we'd rather wake up with in the morning and open the door and look up at the sun and say, "Come on, universe, bring it on because I'm with the person I love, and there's nothing that you can throw at me that I can't handle as long as we're together." Is that what you mean?

Lucy's Voice: Yeah. Right, that -- oh, Doc, that's exactly it. It's exactly how I feel. That's exactly what I mean.

Kevin's Voice: Good. Me, too. Now, can we get on home so we can start planning this wedding?

Lucy's Voice: Wait -- well, I thought the lock -- the door --

Kevin's Voice: Wasn't even locked. I wasn't about to let you out before you could say yes. I wasn't about to let her out of there until she said yes. I knew we belonged together. And I knew that she knew it, too. And I'll never stop believing that. Or fighting for it. Well, you wanted to know about Lucy. That's Lucy.

Christina: Mommy? Daddy will come back.

Lucy: Oh, boy.

Chris: What's going on?

Ian: Nothing.

Chris: Nothing? You're hooked up to an EKG.

Ian: Don't you have anything better to do?

Chris: No, not really. I thought you were in here with a patient.

Ian: You see a patient in here?

Chris: No. But I do see some test results that were waiting for you down in the lab. You ran your own blood work? What's going on?

Ian: It's none of your business.

Chris: You know, they say that doctors who try to treat themselves are a special kind of stupid.

Ian: I'm not feeling well. That's all.

Chris: That's all? You seemed concerned enough to run all these tests. Come on, Thornhart, I know I'm not your favorite person, but I am one of the better doctors in this hospital. I was also Eve's friend and I owe her one. Let me look at the results, please? Come on.

Chris: This is really irregular.

Ian: I know.

Chris: Well, lie down. Let's get that EKG you were about to run.

Karen: I appreciate everything you said. Means a lot to me.

Ricky: But?

Karen: But I don't really want to deal with anything right now.

Ricky: I understand.

Karen: Well, I think you should go.

Ricky: Yeah, I -- I should probably go.

Karen: Thanks again for everything.

Ricky: I meant it.

Karen: I know. Well, good night.

Ricky: Good night.

Rebecca: Yours is a remarkable love story.

Kevin: Yeah, well, we've had a lot of things thrown at us. A lot of things. But we've always managed to make it through. We're going to have that dance.

Rebecca: I believe you will. Few women are ever loved the way you love your Lucy. She's a very lucky woman.

Lucy: You know, Daddy has never, ever given up on me -- not that day in the broom closet, not ever. So I am not about to give up on him. I promise you, pumpkin head, I am going to bring Daddy home.

Ian: I just got a migraine.

Chris: No, this isn't just a migraine. There's been some sort of shock to your system. What happened?

Doree: Are you going to be much longer?

Chris: Doree, I'm with a patient right now!

[Chris sighs]

Ian: Trouble with the new lady?

Chris: Let's just say it's too much of a good thing. You have no idea what brought this on?

Ian: No.

Chris: And nothing traumatic's happened to you lately?

Ian: Nothing I could tell you about.

Chris: Well, we need to run more tests.

Ian: I really don't have time. I got somewhere to be.

Chris: Thornhart, don't ignore this. We both know it could be serious.

Ian: I'll keep that in mind.

Chris: All right.

Ian: Chris.

Chris: Yeah.

Ian: Thanks.

[Phone rings]

Ian: Hello?

Lucy: Ian, hi. It's me. Listen, I know what happened earlier really shook you up, but I am very scared because I could tell Doc was scared. I think we need to find him.

Ian: You want to try again?

Lucy: Yeah. I'm sorry. You know, I really do. I think we need to do it now, and I wouldn't ask you if I wasn't so desperate.

Ian: You know I can't say no to you.

Lucy: Thank you. Thank you so much. Look, I think this is going to work. I think we will get Doc back. I know you're not available right now, you're working, but maybe we can try tomorrow, ok?

Ian: I'll be there.

>> On the next "Port Charles" --

Mary: So if you can't personally see Kevin, you -- you broke in his office and stole his files?

Ricky: Last night might be the single greatest night in my entire life.

Karen: But it can never happen again.
