Rafe: Thank you, you know, for letting me have them dream about how much they love each other, because I'm just thinking if they can just hold on to maybe a little piece of that, they'll be all right, you know?

Jack: Livvie. Livvie. Livvie, wait. What -- what are you doing here?

Livvie: I just needed to see you. I wasn't going to bother you. I mean, I know we're not together -- yeah, I'll just leave you alone.

Jack: No, no, wait. I -- I was actually just dreaming about you.

Lucy: Thank you for your jacket.

Kevin: Sure.

Lucy: Listen --

Kevin: Lucy, I --

Lucy: You know what I wanted --

Kevin: You go first.

Lucy: Ok. I just wanted to say that, you know, when we were outside just now on the bridge, I don't know, I felt like something was different. I don't know. Maybe it's the way you called my name when you saw me or the way you looked at me. It was just like I stepped out of a dream or something.

Kevin: That's exactly what you did.

Lucy: Oh. Doc, it just gave me this hope. You know, it was like a wave of hope rushed over me that maybe we can get through all of this.

Kevin: Well, I had the same feeling earlier tonight. I miss you.

Lucy: You do?

Kevin: Lucy, it's like this wall has come up between us. I don't even know why, but all I really know is that I hate it.

Lucy: I hate it. I hate it a lot, and it doesn't have to be there. I mean, maybe we could just start by really taking a good, long, hard look at that wall.

Kevin: Right. How it all started.

Lucy: Right. But I think we both know how that wall started. Doc, it started when you started believing all those lies about Ian.

Eve: Hi. Ian Thornhart's room, please.

[Phone rings]

Ian: Hello.

Eve: Hi. It's me.

Ian: I was just about to call you. How is Daniel doing?

Eve: He's fine. I was just calling because --

Ian: Because why?

Eve: I just had this really nice dream. We were a family again and --

Ian: Hey, wait, wait, wait. A dream?

Eve: Yeah. We were this loving family, and Danny had this -- this -- well, he was afraid of monsters and --

Ian: And I told him that Thornhart men could handle anything, as long as I had your kiss to protect them. Eve?

Eve: How did you know that?

Ian: I had the same dream.

Caleb: Touching, Rafe. Really. Brought a tear to my eyes. Well, nearly.

Eve: How is that possible? How did we have the same dream?

Ian: It's pretty incredible, isn't it?

Eve: Yeah.

Ian: Lucy might say that this is some kind of a, I don't know, cosmic convergence or something, but what if it isn't? You know, what if this is not a dream? It's possible, us being together.

Eve: Come on, do you really believe that after that horrible message?

Ian: What are you talking about?

Eve: The lovely threat you left on my answering machine.

Ian: "Threat"? I told you that I loved you and that I would die before I'd let anything come between us.

Eve: No. You said that I would die before you'd let me leave you.

Ian: What?

Eve: Yeah. And then you said that you would do what you had to do.

Ian: Wait, no, no, wait. That's crazy. I would never say -- I would never say anything like that. That's -- somebody must have altered the message or something.

Eve: Really? Well, why? Why would they do that?

Ian: It's pretty obviously why.

Eve: Not to me.

Ian: Think about it. Everything that's happened up till now, everything, it had one purpose only and that is to make me look like a monster and to drive a wedge between us.

Eve: But it was your voice, Ian. It was you on the answering machine.

Ian: I told you. Somebody must have altered the message. Please. I got to see you.

Eve: I'm not ready.

Ian: No, I -- I'm coming over right now, tonight.

Eve: No! I said no! I'm not ready for you to come here.

Jack: In those dreams, it was like -- it was like Caleb never existed, and we were living this normal life -- happy, in love.

Livvie: I wish I could dream like that. Oh, Jack, you must hate me so much.

Jack: Hate you? Livvie, it's killing me not to grab you and put you in my arms and not let you go.

Livvie: Then why don't you?

Jack: You know why.

Livvie: Jack, I hurt you. And I did terrible things, but I love you. And I just want to fix things. Just please -- Jack, please tell me that you'll give us another chance.

Caleb: You angels are -- you're very heartwarming.

Rafe: What are you doing here, Caleb?

Caleb: You really should consider the greeting card business.

Rafe: Now, I know you didn't just slither out of your hole just to be annoying.

Caleb: No, that's a bonus. Actually, I -- I came to congratulate you.

Rafe: Congratulate me?

Caleb: Don't be modest. Dream-weaver extraordinaire. Another one of your seemingly endless talents.

Rafe: Bigger ones to come, Caleb.

Caleb: Yeah. Still have a few tricks up your wings?

Rafe: No tricks necessary. It's called the power of love.

Caleb: Human love -- an oxymoron if I ever heard one.

Rafe: I find it funny the way you dismiss human emotion when we both know how important it is to you.

Caleb: I couldn't care less about emotion.

Rafe: You're feeding off their pain, Caleb. I know that you're getting stronger, they're getting weaker. But the thing is they really love each other. They want to be together. They're not giving up hope that easy. Even you should see that, especially now.

Caleb: All this because of a couple stupid dreams?

Rafe: Come on, man. Admit it. Ain't nobody here but us dead guys.

Caleb: Admit what?

Rafe: You're starting to get a little nervous.

Kevin: Lucy, it's not like I went looking for proof that Ian was a bad guy.

Lucy: I know that. But it seems you were more than willing to believe it, and what's much worse is you kind of pushed Eve into believing that, too.

Kevin: I'm sorry, Lucy, but I --

Lucy: No, please, shh, Doc, it's ok. I don't want you to be sorry. I just want you to stop. Don't you see this obsession with Eve and Ian, it's sort of taken over your life, which means it's taken over ours. And it feels like you're not able to quite let it go.

Kevin: You're right. Oh, you're right. I have been acting --

Lucy: Hmm, a little obsessed?

Kevin: Obsessed, yeah.

Lucy: Yes, and a little out of control. But, Doc, I really believe it's not totally your fault.

Kevin: Well, look, Lucy, I would love to be able to believe that there's some evil force out there pulling our strings, but I just don't see it.

Lucy: But wait, couldn't you just say maybe, given everything that's happened, everything, that maybe it's just possible?

Kevin: Lucy, I'm not ruling out anything at this point, trust me -- including the fact that maybe I just wouldn't let go of the idea that someone or something else was responsible for all that Hell that I went through after I thought Eve died.

Lucy: Well, you know, all that Hell you went through brought us together.

Kevin: Hey, I haven't had one single regret, Lucy, not about us.

Lucy: I'm so glad. And you know what? 99% of the time I can believe that, I swear, but 100% of the time I am sure something very sinister is happening to everyone, and not -- not egos involved -- nothing but something sinister. It's like we're not together quite right. There's Eve and Ian, and there's Jack and Livvie -- all of us. This cannot be a coincidence.

Kevin: Because there's no such thing as a coincidence.

Lucy: Something is interfering. It's almost like we try to make up or make peace and something happens.

Kevin: Yeah, something always seems to interfere.

Lucy: Doc, something or someone is trying to mess with our heads.

Livvie: You won't take me back.

Jack: Oh, Livvie, because that's not what you need right now. Ok. Livvie, I used to think that the more I would love you, the more I would keep you close to me, the more I'd take you away from here, get married, all of that, it would make everything ok, make it better. But none of that worked, not any more than it would if we got back together now.

Livvie: Yeah, other than make me happy, Jack.

Jack: No, listen to me. I want you to be happy. I don't want you to have these bad dreams, end up in strange places with strange people and not know how you got there. But I want you to get well. And, Livvie, I can't make you well, as much as I want to.

Livvie: Yeah, Jack, what if nothing can? What if I lost something when I gave myself to Caleb?

Jack: Livvie, don't say that.

Livvie: What if I sold my soul to the devil, Jack, and I can never get it back?

Caleb: Let's clear one little thing up. I ain't afraid of anything, halo boy.

Rafe: No?

Caleb: No. And despite what you might think, your little dreamers will continue to self-destruct, and I'll be at full strength before you can say "praise the lord."

Rafe: You don't believe that any more than I do.

Caleb: Why wouldn't I?

Rafe: Well, because if these people had fallen as far as you say, then you'd have gotten your fangs back by now, wouldn't you? It must be nerve-racking to be so defenseless.

Caleb: Oh, I assure you I'm far from defenseless.

Rafe: We both know where a vampire gets his strength. His real strength comes from blood from feeding, and it's been a while for you, if I'm not mistaken.

Caleb: Fasting is good for the soul.

Rafe: Except you don't have a soul.

Caleb: Is there a point to any of this?

Rafe: The point is that you can't go on that much longer without feeding and your tiny, little bicuspids won't re-emerge until you're strong enough to feed. And I'm never going to let that happen.

Caleb: You're not going to "let" that happen?

Rafe: I'll just keep reminding my friends how much they love.

Caleb: You know, as I recall, the last time you and I went one-on-one you wound up dead.

Rafe: So then, thanks to you, I'm pretty much indestructible, and you -- well, you're not much of a vampire.

Caleb: You're forgetting one little thing. These people are mortals. And as much as they want to believe what you're selling, they can't. That's because they're inherently suspicious and unforgiving.

Rafe: That's what you believe.

Caleb: That's what made all this so easy. All I did was plant a few seeds. They did all the rest on their own.

Rafe: You sure about that?

Caleb: I am.

Rafe: Well, then, I'll make you a deal. I'll back off if you will. We'll just let them go their own way and see which way they go. What do you say, Caleb? You ready to put those fangs on the line?

Jack: Caleb can't take away anything from us that we can't get back -- nothing.

Livvie: Then what's wrong with me, Jack? I want my life back the way it was. I just want to be well again.

Jack: That's what you have to focus on. Not us, not our relationship. You have to focus on getting help.

Livvie: I guess I just want to make things go away, you know? But you're right. I do need help.

Jack: Yeah. Look, and I'm going to help you do that. Ok, like everything is going to be ok. Have you talked to your dad?

Livvie: No. But I will.

Jack: Well, I can take you over there right now, if you'd like.

Livvie: No, I'll do it tomorrow. Jack, I suddenly feel really tired. Would you mind if I stayed here with you tonight, just to sleep?

Jack: Oh, Livvie, I --

Livvie: Please, Jack, just tonight. I feel really safe here.

Lucy: You know, I really am relieved that you realize, you know, you haven't exactly been acting like yourself.

Kevin: You and me both.

Lucy: What does that mean?

Kevin: Well, you haven't exactly been yourself lately, either, Lucy.

Lucy: How?

Kevin: Forget it.

Lucy: Oh. Christina. You don't really believe I saw her, do you?

Kevin: Lucy, I just wish you'd consider the possibility that whatever's affecting the rest of us might be affecting you, too.

Lucy: I know, but -- I -- why couldn't this one thing be true? Why couldn't it have --

Kevin: I want it to be more than anything. You know that.

Lucy: Yeah, I do, but you don't believe me. That's ok. It's like I don't believe this woman, Anne-Marie, and all her lies about Ian, either.

Kevin: So why don't we just make a pact? I'll keep an open mind if you will.

Lucy: Ok. I'll try.

Kevin: Good. Now we have to get down to the bottom of whatever it is we're really dealing with.

Lucy: And now that we're on the same side, oh, Doc, we can do just about anything.

Kevin: I don't know. You're pretty mad at me. Are you sure you can forgive me that easily?

Lucy: Oh, yeah. Well, I tried not to. But then all of a sudden, I just remembered how darn much in love with you I am and I couldn't help myself.

Kevin: Well, you just keep remembering.

Lucy: I will if you will.

Kevin: How could I ever forget?

[Phone rings]

Eve: Hello?

Ian: Hi. Don't hang up. I'm sorry I pushed you. It's just that being without you and Daniel is killing me.

Eve: I know. I mean, me, too.

Ian: Try to put yourself in my place for just one second. Try to think of what it might feel like to have the one person that is supposed to know you better than anyone else in the world, the one person, to believe horrible things about you, to think that you would be capable of hurting people. I mean, why is it so easy for you to believe that?

Eve: This is not easy for me. This is tearing me apart. I can't even -- I can't even sleep in our bed because I can't bear to be in it without you.

Ian: Eve, I --

Eve: I just know this dream was so perfect. It was just like how I want our family to be.

Ian: Well, and -- and that's how our family will be. You just need to have faith in me.

Eve: I -- I got to go.

Ian: No, wait, wait, wait, wait. I want to see you. And it doesn't have to be in the apartment. It doesn't have to be tonight. Why don't we -- let's meet tomorrow, ok, in the park, where we had the picnic, just for a few minutes.

Eve: Ok. I'll bring Danny because I know that he really misses his daddy.

Ian: Tell him to bring his mother.

Eve: I'll see you tomorrow.

Ian: Bye.

Caleb: Well, that's an interesting proposition.

Rafe: So it's a deal?

Caleb: Uh I think I'm going to have to pass.

Rafe: You are scared.

Caleb: No. You see, I play the game to the end. There's no quit in the middle.

Rafe: Fine. You had your chance.

Caleb: Oh, that's right, run off. We both know you're pretty much powerless. You can't even warn these people.

Rafe: Maybe. But I can always remind them.

[Caleb sighs]

Caleb: Hmm. That's -- that's cute. Yeah. But you're going to have to do better than that. I'm going to hurt them in ways you wouldn't believe. I'm going after their children.

>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "Port Charles: Tempted."

>> On the next "Port Charles" --

Ian: I love you.

Eve: In my heart, I know that, but I'm --

Ian: Scared. Just listen to what's in your heart.

Livvie: All I want is Jack.

Caleb: Fine. Then have him. But I wouldn't count on him being there forever.
