Stephanie: Dad?
Ridge: I told your mother about Phoebe. It still seems so unreal.
Steffy: Yeah. I should have been there-- help you break it to Mom. I'm sorry.
Ridge: No, hon. That's not your responsibility.
Steffy: It feels like there's this gaping hole in me.
Ridge: I know. I know.
Steffy: What are we gonna do without Phoebe?
Ridge: We're gonna treasure her memory. We're gonna keep her with us. We're gonna keep her with us forever.
Steffy: Where's Mom?
Stephanie: I don't understand. My granddaughter is dead, and I-I-I don't understand why.
Brooke: We're all trying to make sense of it.
Stephanie: Yes, but you were there. You were driving. Was anybody else hurt?
Brooke: Rick was.
Rick: I'm fine, Mom, thank you.
Stephanie: No, I-I was-- what-- what about the other driver?
Rick: There was no other driver.
Stephanie: You lost control of the car?
Rick: You could put it that way, yeah.
Stephanie: Well, how would you put it?
Rick: Yes, Stephanie, I lost control of the car, okay?
Brooke: Stephanie.
Stephanie: Is that all that you can give me?
Rick: (Sighs)
Brooke: Put yourself in his position. He's in shock.
Stephanie: Well, put yourself in my position. My granddaughter is dead. She's dead, and I just saw her today. She was alive, full of joy, full of life. She was so happy to be home, and now she's dead, and I have to understand why. Why?
Steffy: No, Mom shouldn't be alone somewhere.
Ridge: She's up in her room. I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't come out.
Steffy: Should I go up there?
Ridge: No. Let's let her have some time alone.
Steffy: No, no, no. But I want to see her.
Ridge: Sweetie, so do I. But she needs a little grieving time in private.
Steffy: God. How will she get over this? Yeah, she's strong, but how is anybody that strong?
Ridge: We're gonna help her, okay? All of us. We're all gonna have to be here now for your mother.
Steffy: You're gonna be there for Mom, right?
Ridge: Of course I will.
Steffy: What about...
Ridge: Brooke? Brooke and I are gonna put the wedding on hold.
Steffy: I'm sorry.
Ridge: So am I. For so many things.
Steffy: I-- I just--- God, I just had this bad, bad feeling at the party tonight. Just waiting for Phoebe to get here. It just felt like I had the wind knocked out of me. I just--I couldn't breathe. I honestly-- I think that's when she died, because I felt her leave me.
Ridge: You two had a very special bond, didn't you?
Steffy: Yeah, we're twins. It's funny how much we grew apart. But that bond will always be there.
Ridge: I'm glad you both had a chance to reconnect before, um... (sighs)
Steffy: Were you there when she-- when she died?
Ridge: Yeah. I held her in my arms. She tried to sing that song that she had written for me, and, um, then-- then she slipped away.
Steffy: Was she peaceful?
Ridge: Yes. Yes, I think she was very peaceful.
Steffy: (Sniffles) (sighs) You know, um, I'm glad you were with her and she wasn't alone.
Ridge: She knew she wasn't alone. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Steffy: Dad?
Steffy: Where is she? I want to see her just one last time.
Ridge: Okay. (Sighs) I'll take you.
Stephanie: What was she doing in your car?
Brooke: He was driving Phoebe here to the rehearsal dinner.
Stephanie: Well, I think she'd ride with anyone but you.
Rick: I wish she had ridden with somebody else. She just jumped in my car as I was leaving.
Stephanie: Well, why would she do that? She wouldn't.
Rick: Well, I-I don't know. She--she needed a ride, okay? She had some things that she wanted to say to me.
Stephanie: To you? Or--or--or about you?
Rick: Both.
Stephanie: About her father and you? About her mother and you?
Rick: Just what--what do you want me to say to you? She was pissed at me, all right?
Stephanie: I want to know why she's dead and you're alive.
Brooke: Stop it, Stephanie. That's enough. You're not gonna get anywhere by giving him the third degree. There will be a time and a place for these questions. But we ought to be praying for Phoebe and for her family.
Rick: (Sighs)
Ridge: There must be an office.
Ridge: Excuse me. I'm looking for my daughter, Phoebe Forrester.
Woman: Did you check with the supervisor upstairs?
Steffy: My sister isn't here?
Woman: No, she--she's here. Would you like her personal effects?
Steffy: (Sobs)
Ridge: Yes. Uh, yes, please. Uh, do I have to sign for those upstairs?
Woman: No, we can take care of that here.
Woman: Take as long as you like. I'm sorry for your loss.
Steffy: (Sobs) (sniffles) (sobs)
Steffy: (Sobs) She borrowed this from me. (Sniffles) My bracelet. (Sobs)
Steffy: That was the hair clip that you bought her. She always wore it. She loved that thing.
Ridge: (Sobs)
Steffy: It made her feel connected to you, Dad.
Ridge: (Sobs) I know.
Steffy: (Sobs)
Steffy: (Sobs) (sniffles) (moans) (sobs) oh, God. Oh, God. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
Steffy: (Sobs) Oh, Phoebe. Shh.
Steffy: Shh. She's beautiful, isn't she?
Ridge: She'll always be beautiful.
Steffy: (Sobs) Can I have a moment with her?
Ridge: Yes, sweetie, of course.
Steffy: (Sobs) (sobs)
Rick: Phoebe's dead, Mom.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Rick: Nothing's ever gonna be the same.
Brooke: I know it seems that way.
Rick: God, as long as I live, I'm never gonna make this right, am I?
Brooke: (Sighs) There's nothing you could have done.
Rick: Oh, sure there is, Mom. I could've stopped the car. I could've told Phoebe to get out, and if she refused, I-I-I never should've left the parking lot in the first place.
Brooke: Stephanie was just hurt. She didn't mean to sound so accusing.
Rick: Of course she did, Mom. Her granddaughter got in the car with me, and now she's dead.
Brooke: Don't do this to yourself.
Rick: I broke her heart. And then I killed her.
Brooke: Oh, honey.
Rick: (Sighs)
Steffy: (Sobs) No, Phoebe. No. (Sobs)
Steffy: Why? Why did-- why did you leave me, Phoebe? Why did I let you leave? God, why didn't I make you stay? Just why didn't you come to the party with me? I'm just-- if only-- (sobs) if only I could've-- oh, God. You would still be here. Oh, Phoebe. What am I gonna do without you?
Steffy: God. (Sighs) We always shared everything. Everything. And I--and I always-- and I always knew that I could go to you no matter what. You would always be there for me when I needed you. (Sobs) and now you're gone. And I feel like a part of me is dead. (Sobs) I know I'll never-- I'll--I'll never be the same.
Steffy: But I know you're there for me. I know you're there for me.
Steffy: Right? Right? You're still with me, right? God, Phoebe, just give me a sign, please? Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Just give me a sign. Just give me anything. Just tell me you're still in my heart. (Sobs) please, Phoebe, just give me a-- (sobs) just give me a sign, Phoebe. Phoebe! Just give me a sign, please. Please, tell me you're with-- (sobs) Phoebe. (Sobs)
Ridge: Phoebe's gone.
Stephanie: I know, honey. I know. Your father told me.
Ridge: Steffy's inside. She wanted to say good-bye.
Stephanie: You were with her when she died?
Ridge: She was hurt. Bruised, broken. My sweet little girl.
Ridge: She was thrown out of the car. She was just lying there. I thought I shouldn't touch her, but I did. I-I had to hold her.
Ridge: Then she died.
Stephanie: It's good that you were there with her, honey. She knows how much you love her.
Ridge: What good was that now if I can't do anything to protect her?
Stephanie: I don't want you to say something like that. Don't even think something like that.
Ridge: How could something like this happen?
Stephanie: I don't know, honey. I don't know.
Ridge: I've driven that road a thousand times.
Stephanie: We all have.
Ridge: Never once did I think this is gonna be the street. This--that's gonna be the place with my little girl lying in a ditch.
Stephanie: Some things are just unthinkable, sweetheart.
Ridge: Accident. That's one of the first words we ever taught her. "Daddy, I had an accident." How could an accident take her from us like this? How?
Stephanie: If it was an accident.
