Katie: Wow. (Sighs) I can die a happy woman now. (Giggles) That was some kiss. I think it made my wea-- my knees feel weak. My weak feel knees. (Laughs)

Nick: I don't think that was my doing.

Katie: Oh, take a compliment, sailor.

Nick: Okay.

Katie: Is there something else you could do for me?

Nick: You name it.

Katie: I'd like to get out of this dress. Could you find my robe?

Nick: I think I can do better than that.

Ridge: Hey, my sweet girl. Hey. Love the hug, but I have a feeling something else is going on.

Steffy: I saw that dress you made for Katie. It's beautiful, dad.

Ridge: I just wish there was more I could do.

Steffy: Well, it's a wonderful gesture. The whole office is talking about it. Gloria in receiving was in tears.

Ridge: I think we all kind of feel a little bit like that right now.

Steffy: I still can't believe Katie's dying.

Ridge: From what I understand... (sighs) it could be any time.

Steffy: Do you-- have you heard from anybody? Do you know how her big evening went?

Ridge: No, not yet.

Steffy: I'm sure it was great. Wearing a gown like that, knowing it was made especially for you by people who love you-- that has to feel good.

Ridge: I don't know how much difference a dress is really gonna make.

Steffy: It's not just a dress, Dad. It's the thought and care that went into it. It came straight from your heart, and Katie knows that. Despite your issues with Donna, you really pulled through for her family.

Marcus: Hey.

Donna: When you do something, you really, uh, throw yourself into it, huh?

Marcus: Oh, yeah. Invoices. Yeah, if I can get these out by tonight, I can get 'em on Eric's desk first thing tomorrow morning when he comes in.

Donna: I'm proud of you. You know, I-I should go.

Marcus: Where you going? You got somewhere to be?

Donna: Uh, I have to see my sister.

Marcus: Brooke?

Donna: No. No, Katie.

Marcus: Oh, yeah. The one with the new heart. Hey... what is it? What's wrong?

Donna: Sh-- she's dying, Marcus. She's dying.

Bridget: I know, I know. I just-- I can't let this go. My gut is telling me not to stop looking.

Brooke: For what? What do you expect to see that you haven't already seen? You've been going over Katie's lab reports all evening.

Bridget: I don't know, mom, but I feel like there's something missing, and I've just gotta figure out what it is.

Brooke: You want reason to help. We all do.

Bridget: I've got to find the answer, Mom. Katie needs me to do this. (Whispers) Oh, my-- oh, my god, wha-- I think this-- (normal voice) oh, my god, I think this-- this is it.

Brooke: What is it, Bridget? Have you found something?

Bridget: I think so. I-I think-- I think I have.

Bridget: Hi, Dr. Patrick. This is Bridget Forrester. I-I need to see you immediately. I think I found a way to save Katie.

Katie: (Labored breathing) (chuckles)

Nick: (Chuckles)

Katie: I like your pajamas. Hmm.

Nick: Your favorite team.

Katie: Thank you. You shouldn't have.

Nick: They're very cute.

Katie: Mm-hmm. Now I can say I won't ever have to take 'em off. (Labored breathing) I'll have 'em on forever. I'm right where I want to be. This has been such a great night. (Gasps) Can we just stay like this for a little while longer? (Breathes heavily)

Nick: I'm not going anywhere.

Dr. Patrick: I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Bridget: And see? If you look here at these two markers...

Dr. Patrick: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: What are we looking for?

Bridget: Well, this is the protocol that we've been using to help Katie. And for all intents and purposes, it should have worked. I mean, all of the literature says it should work. But if we just change this section of the protocol--

Dr. Patrick: Yes. Yes, it could work.

Bridget: I mean, I can't believe it. I knew that there would be an answer somewhere, and it's been here the whole time in the data!

Brooke: An answer? So you found a way to actually save Katie?

Dr. Patrick: It's worth a try.

Brooke: Oh! Bridget! Oh, my god, you did it.

Dr. Patrick: It's still a long shot. A transplant rejection that's progressed as far as Katie's could be difficult to reverse.

Bridget: You're worried that the damage to the heart could be irreparable.

Dr. Patrick: It's a possibility.

Bridget: Well, that's why we have to get her to the hospital right now.

Dr. Patrick: May I take these?

Bridget: Oh, please. Yes, of course.

Dr. Patrick: I'll alert my team. We'll have the new protocol ready when she arrives.

Bridget: Okay. Thank you, doctor.

Dr. Patrick: Good work, doctor.

Bridget: Thank you. Okay, mom, we have to get to the house right away, and I'll call the ambulance and have them meet us there.

Brooke: Okay, wait, wait! We need to talk to Katie, and we need to explain what's going on.

Bridget: Mom, for every second we waste, there's-- her heart's being damaged.

Brooke: She won't go to the hospital.

Bridget: What if she could live, though, Mom?

Brooke: She doesn't want to die in the hospital, and we have to respect that.

Bridget: Mom, listen to me. She needs this treatment. I don't care what dr. Patrick has been saying. My gut told me that I could help her, and now it's telling me to follow through. We just need to hurry, so please--

Brooke: Is the treatment given with an IV?

Bridget: Yes, Mom.

Brooke: Okay, then we can do that at home, right?

Bridget: Yes.

Brooke: (Sighs) there's still time to catch Dr. Patrick.

Bridget: Okay, we just have to hurry.

Brooke: Let's go.

Katie: (Labored breathing)

Katie: (Breathing raggedly) (gasps) Nick? Nick?

Nick: I'm right here. (Whispers) I'm right here.

Katie: Are you gonna try that on?

Nick: (Normal voice) I already did.

Katie: (Chuckles) (breathes deeply)

Katie: It's the most beautiful dress I've ever had. (Gasps)

Nick: It's a beautiful dress for a beautiful person.

Katie: (Gasps) I'll never look that good again. (Gasps)

Nick: I think you look great right now.

Katie: Oh, you lie. If I look even half as bad as I feel-- (gasps) (coughing)

Nick: Shh. Just try to relax. Shh. (Whispers) Relax.

Katie: I'm cold. (Gasps)

Nick: (Normal voice) It's the fever, 'cause you're just so hot.

Katie: Are you coming on to me, sailor? (Gasps)

Nick: Let me get your medicine.

Katie: (Whispers) No. No.

Nick: It'll help you rest.

Katie: (Normal voice) It'll knock me out. I don't want to close my eyes. (Gasps) (coughing)

Nick: I'm right here. I'm here.

Katie: Talk to me. Talk to me. I want to remember everything-- (gasps) our island and the-- the prom and you.

Nick: I want to call somebody. Will you let me call someone?

Katie: No. No. No, I have everything I need right here, right now with you. (Gasps) (shivers)

Nick: (Whispering) Katie! Katie! (Shouts) Katie? (Quietly) Katie.

Ridge: No, no. I'll have somebody talk to her. Thanks.

Steffy: What was that about?

Ridge: Donna. Apparently she's been giving the marketing people "suggestions."

Steffy: You know Granddad wants everyone to feel free to give their input.

Ridge: To him? To me? It's a chain of command around here, kiddo. Donna Logan may have your grandfather wrapped around her little finger, but that does not give her the authority to make decisions for this company. I'm not gonna rag on her tonight.

Steffy: Good call.

Ridge: What's happening to her family is a tragedy. That doesn't change my feeling about her marriage to your grandfather or her involvement in this company.

Steffy: She's mrs. Eric forrester. Like it or not, that gives her some pull around here.

Ridge: Oh? But it doesn't. Our employees need to understand that.

Steffy: Well, then somebody should make that clear.

Ridge: Careful, smarty-pants. I might delegate that job to you.

Steffy: No way. That's way above my pay grade.

Ridge: Oh, yeah? Well, I could promote you.

Steffy: Don't you dare.

Ridge: Kind of liking it down there in shipping, are you?

Steffy: There's a lot going on. It's interesting, especially Marcus.

Ridge: Who is Marcus?

Marcus: Hey. Of course you can lay this on me. I'm your son.

Donna: Oh, Marcus, it's too much. It's too much.

Marcus: Look, I know it's sad and it's awful, but, um, you know, Katie's your sister, and I don't even really know her.

Donna: She's your aunt.

Marcus: Yeah, I know. And the couple of times I met her, she seemed really amazing. I mean, the speech she gave at your brother's memorial-- opening up her shirt, showing everybody the scar from her heart transplant... I mean, that was raw and really brave. And the day I showed you my birth certificate, I mean, she could have given me the third degree, you know, tell you to take it to a lawyer or something. But she didn't. Katie believed me. She knew I was your kid.

Donna: She's the kindest, most compassionate person. She's our family's heart. And we're losing her.

Marcus: I'm sorry, I, uh-- I wish I had more time to get to know her better.

Donna: Yeah. Yeah, I was hoping for that, too.

(Door opens)

Bridget: Nick? Nick, oh! Can you help us with this stuff?

Brooke: Bridget may have found a way to save Katie.

Nick: Put it down! It's too late.

Steffy: Marcus, the new guy.

Ridge: He must be real new. I don't know anybody named Marcus in shipping.

Steffy: Granddad just hired him. He asked me to sit in on the interview. He thought Marcus would feel more comfortable with somebody his own age in the room.

Ridge: You'd think I would recognize the name, though. We usually have all of our interns move into entry-level positions like that.

Steffy: Oh, I don't think he was an intern. He didn't know squat about fashion.

Ridge: Everybody didn't grow up around it like you did, kiddo.

Steffy: No! I mean, he really didn't know anything.

Ridge: But dad hired him, and he's working with you?

Steffy: Yes. And he's really cute and nice, and I'll go straight back to Europe if you tell Granddad to fire him.

Ridge: As long as he's doing a good job, I guess that's all that matters. I do find it kind of curious why your Granddad hired somebody with absolutely no experience whatsoever, though.

Steffy: Uh... I think it was Donna's idea. But Marcus is really cool and is doing a good job. I just don't think he'd be working here if he didn't have Donna in his corner.

Donna: I should be comforting you. I'm your mother.

Marcus: Well, sometimes it works better the other way.

Donna: No. No, I don't want that for you, Marcus. Storm grew up taking care of his family-- his sisters, our mother. You deserve to have someone taking care of you.

Marcus: I'm old enough to take care of myself.

Donna: You're never too old to be cared about, Marcus. I'm just sorry I-I didn't do a better job of it.

Marcus: Hey, you got me this job, right? And don't worry. I don't think anybody suspects that I'm your son.

Donna: Well, we just-- we just have to hide it for a little while longer, until you and eric get to know one another.

Marcus: He's the ceo. I work in the basement.

Donna: Yes, but he's a very conscientious man. You do a good job, and he will take notice.

Marcus: But won't he be too busy taking care of you? I mean, if things are as bad as you say they are with Katie...

Donna: Not everything is bad in my life, Marcus. I've got Eric. I've got you. You came here at a really hard time. But I'm really glad you're here.

Bridget: We didn't lose her.

Brooke: Oh, thank god! Thank god!

Nick: I checked her pulse.

Bridget: It's very weak and thready. She's barely breathe-- breathing. Mom, I need you to help me. I need to get the iv bag and administrate. We have to hurry.

Nick: What are you talking about--iv?

Brooke: We can help her.

Bridget: The doctor wanted me to implement the protocol immediately.

Nick: No.

Bridget: But what if-- Nick, we're gonna lose her if we don't do this.

Nick: She made it very clear this is not what she wants.

Bridget: We're not trying to prolong her death. We're trying to save her life.

Nick: No! No hospitals. No wires. No test tubes. None of that. She does not want to die a science experiment.

Brooke: Nick, she'd want to live.

Nick: Can you promise that's what's gonna happen? Bridget? Can you swear to me that this'll work?

Bridget: No, Nick, there are no guarantees, but if we could save her, we owe to her to try.

Brooke: We have to at least try.

Nick: No! Now we gave her our word. She wants a peaceful death.

Bridget: Well, that's exactly what she's gonna get in a few minutes if we don't do this. Please, Nick, just let me try. We can save her!

Brooke: We can't lose her, not if there's a chance.

Brooke: It will work. It has to.

Bridget: Mom, the IV bag. Mom?

Nick: What now?

Bridget: We just wait... and pray.
