Zende: You want me to be your son?

Kristen: More than anything in this world.

Tony: If that's okay with you.

Kristen: Zende, you are such a special little boy. You captured our hearts from the very first day we met you. We just couldn't stop thinking about how wonderful it would be to have a little boy just like you. We want you to be part of our family. We want to adopt you.

Tony: Would you like that? Would you like to be our son?

Zende: Yes.

Kristen: Oh, I'm so happy. Thank you. Oh, Zende, this is going to be wonderful.

Megan: You're not taking very much.

Brooke: Well, I'm gonna have to buy new clothes anyway, once I start to show.

Megan: Oh, honey, stop. Stop beating yourself up like this.

Brooke: Well, how am I supposed to feel? I'm pregnant by my daughter's husband.

Megan: But nobody else knows that.

Brooke: Yeah, but I know.

Megan: Brooke, nobody can get hurt if they don't find out.

Brooke: Which is exactly why I have to leave here. I'm not strong enough to stay here and face all these questions. You know, I almost opened up to Ridge and told him everything.

Megan: Oh, you can't tell Ridge.

Brooke: I know.

Megan: If you tell Ridge, then Taylor does, and then Stephanie knows

Brooke: Oh, well, I don't care. I mean, everybody can hate me for what I've done, and I could stand it. But not my children, not Bridget.

Megan: Bridget is not going to find out. Look, Brooke, if you come back with a baby, you can just say that you met a guy while you were away.

Brooke: If I come back with a baby? Megan, I told you I can't end this pregnancy.

Megan: No, no, no, I'm not saying that. It's just -- look, Brooke, a lot of couples can't have children.

Brooke: Adoption? I don't know if I could do that either.

Megan: It's your decision; of course, it's just that that way you could be sure that deacon wouldn't find out the truth. I an, what if this baby comes out, and it looks just like him?

[Brooke sighs] oh, gosh, Brooke, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to upset you. It's just that --

Brooke: No, no, it's okay. It's not your fault. I'm the one who got myself into this mess.

Megan: Well, you had a little help.

Brooke: Yes, Deacon. It makes me sick to even think about it.

Megan: That guy took advantage of you when you were weak and vulnerable. I would so love to give him a piece of my mind.

Brooke: You can't, Megan.

Megan: I know, I know, he can never find out about this baby.

Brooke: I can't even face him.

[Knocking at door]

Bridget: Mom? Do you need any help?

Brooke: No, no, honey, we're fine. I'm almost done. I'll be down in a minute.

Bridget: Okay.

Rick: What'd Mom say?

Bridget: She's coming down.

Amber: Nothing else? I don't get it.

Rick: Me neither.

Bridget: Well, what did she say to you?

Rick: Basically, she said that she needed to get out of town for a while.

Bridget: And not why?

Amber: It's me.

Rick: No, it's not.

Amber: It's has to be, she can't stand living here.

Rick: No, Amber, I asked her if it was that, and she assure me that it has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Bridget: It's probably about Ridge.

Rick: That's my guess.

Amber: Isn't she over him yet?

Bridget: Oh, well, how many times have we heard that?

Rick: I don't even want to get into it. I'm just really worried about her. You know, I mean, God, the way she's acting, all shaky and emotional, it reminds me --

Bridget: Of what?

Rick: It reminds of that time when she had that breakdown, and she ended up in Barbados.

Bridget: Oh, God -- you don't think it's that bad, do you?

Rick: I don't know. I just wish I could get her to open up to me. Hi, Mom. How are you feeling?

Brooke: I'm okay. Thank you.

Eric: The problem's been taken care of.

Stephanie: I wonder if we just shouldn't put it all in writing?

Eric: Well, how about Ridge Forrester, CEO, on the office door? That'll be in writing.

Stephanie: Sarcasm doesn't help, Eric. What good is it gonna do Ridge if he doesn't have binding legal authority?

Eric: Binding legal authority? You've been hanging out with Jonathan too much.

Stephanie: I didn't hear this from Jonathan.

Eric: Coffee, good, good.

Ridge: Okay, coffee boy is here. Figured once we get into all the legalese with Jonathan, we're gonna have trouble staying awake. Mother?

Stephanie: Yes, thank you.

Ridge: Dad?

Eric: I'll get some in a minute. That's all right, thanks.

Stephanie: Did you bring enough cups?

Ridge: Brooke's not going to be here.

Eric: She's not?

Ridge: She's leaving town.

Brooke: I'll miss both of you so much. I'm sorry, Amber, I didn't mean to be rude.

Amber: It's okay.

Rick: Still, I can't believe you're going, Mom.

Brooke: I just need time away, that's all.

Rick: Yeah, but you're leaving before the stock transfer meeting. I mean, people are going to wonder.

Brooke: Well, Connor and I went over all of that.

Rick: What did you guys come up with?

Brooke: It's in the letter, and he'll go over that with you. I just hope the both of you will support my decision.

Bridget: Of course.

Rick: Yeah, sure.

Brooke: Okay, well -- good-bye, honey. Good-bye, Amber. Take care of my grandchild.

Amber: Will do.

Rick: How long are you going to be gone?

Bridget: Why won't you tell us where you're going? We're going to be so worried.

Megan: You guys, your mom's going through kind of a rough time. Why don't you cut her some slack? Okay?

Brooke: Oh, sweetie, I really hate that I can't be here for you.

Bridget: I'm not the one who's going to be on my own. You don't have to worry, okay? Deacon takes really good care of me. Actually, he's coming over, he wanted to say good-bye to you.

Brooke: Well, I'm afraid I have to be on my way. I told Eric I'd stop by the office.

Bridget: Mom, look, I understand why you feel the way you do about my husband. But I hope you know that he's not upset with you. Actually, I think he really likes you. Maybe when you get back, we can work on bringing you two closer.

Brooke: We'll see how it goes.

Bridget: He's always going to be part of your life.

Megan: Well, we better get you on the road.

Bridget: I'm gonna miss you.

Brooke: I'm gonna miss you guys, too. Bye.

Bridget: Bye.

Trisha: What is he doing?

Kristen: He's putting a flower on his little brother's grave. He's leaving so much behind, and he hardly knows us.

Tony: This is going to be a huge culture shock for him. Maybe we should take some more time and let him get used to the idea.

Trisha: It will be a difficult transition for him whether you do it now or weeks from now. You're giving Zende a chance for a life so much more fulfilling than he could have here. You're giving him a family.

Tony: Well, he's doing the same thing for us.

Kristen: He's the son we thought we'd never have. Oh, it's such a miracle.

Stephanie: Brooke is leaving town?

Ridge: Yeah.

Stephanie: Where is she going?

Ridge: She wouldn't say.

Eric: Well, she won't be here for the stock transfer either?

Ridge: She's given Connor all of her instructions.

Stephanie: What instructions?

Ridge: I guess we'll find out tomorrow, won't we?

Stephanie: Oh, she's going to drop a bomb on us.

Ridge: No, I don't think it's that.

Stephanie: I do. You rejected her, and she's going to punish us.

Ridge: No, Mother, there's something else going on with her. Don't ask me what it is because I don't know.

Rick: I mean, you heard what Mom said. She doesn't know when she's gonna be back. She could be gone for months.

Amber: It's so weird.

Bridget: I begged her not to go after Ridge. I knew she'd get hurt again.

Rick: We all knew.

Amber: Maybe that's why she's so ashamed.

Rick: You think she's ashamed?

Amber: Yeah, I recognize the symptoms, you know -- I mean, but you guys know her better than I do.

Bridget: Oh, God, this is such a mess.

[Knock on door]

Deacon: Hey. What's the matter?

Bridget: It's Mom.

Deacon: Is she still here?

Bridget: No, she took off as soon as she found out you were coming.

Amber: Don't take it personally.

Rick: Yeah, she's just not in the mood to deal with you right now.

Deacon: That's cool.

Bridget: I just wish she'd talk to us, you know? It's so not like her to keep things so bottled up. I'd give anything to know what has her so upset.

Eric: Brooke, Ridge tells us that you're leaving town.

Brooke: Yes.

Stephanie: Where are you going be staying?

Brooke: I'd rather not say.

Stephanie: You're going into hiding?

Brooke: I'm just taking some time off.

Ridge: Everybody deserves a little "R" and "R" every once in a while.

Stephanie: Well, how do we get in touch with you?

Eric: Stephanie --

Stephanie: No, I'm serious. I mean, suppose you have to make some sort of important decision.

Brooke: I will stay in contact with Megan, and you can leave her a message, and I will do the same.

Stephanie: Brooke --

Ridge: Mother, come on.

Stephanie: Don't we have a right to know where the chief executive officer of the company is going to be?

Brooke: No, Stephanie. And I don't owe you a damn thing, either, not even Forrester creations. I own 51% of this company because I've earned it through my blood, sweat and tears, and don't you forget it.

Stephanie: You won't let us.

Brooke: No. No, I won't. I came here to make something clear. I am not resigning; I'm just taking a leave of absence.

Eric: For how long, Brooke?

Brooke: An indefinite leave of absence. But I know the company will be in good hands.

Ridge: Thank you for your vote of confidence.

Brooke: I better be going.

Eric: Take care, Brooke.

Brooke: Thank you, Eric. Good-bye, Ridge.

Stephanie: She didn't say good-bye to me.

Ridge: Oh, Mother, will you stop it?

Stephanie: Well, now that we finished with all the fun and games, let's get down to business. I forgot my notes.

Ridge: When's she ever taken notes for anything?

Eric: Really.

Rick: You know, you should be lying down.

Amber: Oh, he's so overprotective.

Bridget: I think it's sweet.

Amber: Yeah, so do I.

Rick: Yeah, well, go upstairs and lie down then.

Amber: Yes, sir.

Rick: I'll be up in a minute. I'll get you some milk, okay?

Amber: Thank you, sweetie.

Bridget: So, what's going on?

Deacon: I don't know, I guess I was just thinking about your mother.

Bridget: It's so nice that you're worried about her.

Bridget: It's just really hard for me to see my mother like this, you know?

Deacon: Bridget, she's a strong woman, okay? She's gonna do just fine.

Bridget: Yeah, she always bounces back. She'll be okay. She just needs to go off and lick her wounds for a little while. But why won't she let me help her?

Deacon: She probably just wants to protect you.

Bridget: Deacon, I'm a big girl. I don't need protection. My mother has always been there for me. And now, when I want to be there for her, she shuts me out. It hurts.

Deacon: Hey, listen to me. Come on. This is all gonna work out, all right? I think she's probably just doing the best that she can.

Bridget: You're right, you're right. I'm not being fair to her. I'm so glad I have you. Sometimes it feels like you're the only person who really understands me. The only person I can trust.

Trisha: He never thought he would be adopted. He's always felt so unwanted. It's a big day for him. Oh, good thinking. You don't want to be cold on the airplane.

Kristen: Look, Tony, it's his coat. The one with the silver lining.

Tony: We never want to lose sight of that.

Trisha: Are you ready?

Zende: Yes.

Tony: Good, you have your passport. Let me see that. Look at that, your new name -- Zende Forrester Dominguez.

Zende: Zende Forrester Dominguez.

Trisha: A boy can be proud of a name like that. I'm going to miss you, Zende. You're going to have a good life with your new parents. Will you write me and tell me about it? Give me a hug.

Zende: I'm going to miss you, Mommy Trisha.

Trisha: I'm going to miss you too.

Kristen: All right, Mr. Dominguez, let's go home.

Orphan 1: Bye.

Orphan 2: Bye, Zende.

Zende: I'm gonna miss you, okay?

All: Bye.

Tom: Good morning, Ms. Logan.

Brooke: Good morning, tom.

Megan: Okay, your things are in the car. This is René, he'll be driving you up to --

Brooke: Shh.

Megan: We'll wait for you downstairs.

Brooke: What is it, Stephanie?

Stephanie: Look, you want to go away some place and keep it a secret, I will respect that. But there's something else that I just don't understand.

Brooke: What's that?

Stephanie: How can you leave Bridget now while she's still married to that son of a bitch?

Brooke: Will you stop it? I've done everything I possibly can to help her, and I failed, miserably.

Stephanie: One small personal crisis and you just run off and leave the kids swinging in the wind.

Brooke: I would just appreciate it if you could keep an eye on her.

Stephanie: Well, of course, I will. I wouldn't abandon her. You're a pathetic excuse for a mother. But even this is totally out of character for you to just up and off like this. What's going on? There's something wrong, isn't there? What is it, Brooke?

Brooke: Good-bye, Stephanie.

[Elevator bell dings]

Deacon: Brooke, wait a second. Where are you going?

Brooke: Like you really care.

Deacon: Hey, listen to me. Are you okay?

Brooke: Do I look okay?

Deacon: You're leaving 'cause of me, aren't you?

Brooke: No, this really has nothing to do with you.

Deacon: Really? Well, then why are you going?

Brooke: Will you stop it? I'm tired of everybody hounding me! And I'd like to tell you something else. I hate you, Deacon, for what you've done to my life.
