Eric: There you are. What are you doing in here?

Ridge: I'm waiting for Brooke to talk about this whole mess.

Eric: How is Taylor?

Ridge: Taylor is furious. She had to get out of here.

Eric: Ridge, this whole thing is getting completely out of control.

Ridge: I know, I know.

Eric: Well, you've got to get Brooke to back off.

Ridge: And how am I supposed to do that?

Eric: You've got to talk to her. Ridge, she obviously has not accepted the fact that you're not available and you never will be.

Ridge: I've certainly tried to talk with her.

Eric: Then you've got to get tough with her.

Ridge: Dad, you've dealt with Brooke. You know how she is.

Eric: Well, you're going to have to get ruthless in dealing with her. Tell her to stay away from her, that you don't want her anywhere around you.

Ridge: We work together. How am I going to do that?

Eric: Look, I know. I'm not going to tell you what to do, it's just that Brooke is coming between you and your wife and you are the only one who can do anything about it.

Ridge: Okay, okay, I got it! I got it. Who was that guy that was in your office earlier?

Eric: His name is Massimo Marone.

Ridge: What did he want?

Eric: He was looking for your mother. They -- they grew up together.

Ridge: Really?

Eric: Yes, really. We all went to northwestern together. He and your mother had -- term an item before she and i got together.

Ridge: You don't think he still has a thing for her, do you?

Eric: I don't know what he wants but I don't trust him.

Ridge: Why?

Eric: He owns a large shipping conglomerate. But I'm convinced he has ties to organized crime.

Ridge: It's a good thing mother is not in town, then.

Eric: Oh, he's trouble, Ridge. He's very, very big trouble and I don't want him anywhere near this family.

Brooke: Taylor, I know this isn't going to be easy for you and your family. But if you really care about your children, you would spare them this ugliness, and you would just end it, just end it with Ridge peacefully. Because I'm not going to give up, until Ridge and I are together. I'm never going to go away, never.

Taylor: Who the hell does she think she is?

Massimo: Excuse me.

Taylor: Yes? Do I know you?

Massimo: You may have seen me earlier at Forrester creations. I was just leaving the office with Eric when you had your little... Problem.

Taylor: Uh, I'm sorry that you had to witness that.

Massimo: No, no, no, no, please, don't be embarrassed. I thought your reaction was perfectly appropriate.

Taylor: You do?

Massimo: May I sit down?

Taylor: Well, I'm not going to be staying here very long.

Massimo: Nor will I. Thank you.

Taylor: So, you don't think my behavior was a bit much?

Massimo: On the contrary; you had a point to make, and you made it.

Taylor: Yeah, I did that, didn't Ii?

Massimo: And you may have to do it again, perhaps a bit more forcefully the next time.

Betsy: So wait, Deacon is over with Amber?

Bridget: Yeah, the baby is sick.

Betsy: How sick?

Bridget: He has a fever.

Betsy: Kids always get fevers.

Bridget: Yeah, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Betsy: So Amber and your husband, they're alone over there?

Deacon: His temperature is almost normal.

Amber: Yeah, he's going to be just fine.

Deacon: If anything happened to our son, Amber --

Amber: We're lucky.

Deacon: Yeah, we're very lucky.

Amber: no, no, no, oh, no! What am I doing? This is wrong. This is so wrong. Oh, -- Deacon, you have to get out of here. You've got to get out of here right now. Oh, please... Please, Deacon, just please leave, okay? Oh, go. Oh.

Brooke: Hi, Ridge. You waiting for me?

Ridge: We need to talk.

Brooke: It's all right. I've already forgiven Taylor.

Ridge: You've forgiven her?

Brooke: Yes, for her sudden outburst. She obviously wasn't herself.

Ridge: No, she obviously wasn't. And you know why, don't you?

Brooke: PMS, job stress. Maybe she should see a therapist.

Ridge: Damn it, Logan, come on.

Brooke: Just lighten up. She is angry because she knows what I'm saying is the truth.

Ridge: You've got to stop this, Brooke. You're wreaking havoc on my life here.

Brooke: The only thing that I'm bringing to your life is a reality check. You and I, even Taylor have been in denial for too many years.

Ridge: The only one who has been in denial is you.

Brooke: Is that so? I can prove otherwise.

Ridge: Don't start.

Brooke: I am not going to seduce you, Ridge, I don't have to.

Ridge: So what's this proof you're talking about?

Brooke: This.

Ridge: Okay, what's this?

Brooke: Come look.

Ridge: Logan --

Brooke: I'm not going to lay a finger on you. I just want to show you something. This is reality, Ridge. Our reality. Remember this?

Ridge: Yeah. (Chuckling)

Taylor: You certainly have strong opinions.

Massimo: Well, they aren't opinions. I try to say what is true.

Taylor: That I should be more forceful with Brooke.

Massimo: Well, what you should do or not do is up to you. I'm simply stating a fact.

Taylor: Or giving advice.

Massimo: I would not presume to be your advisor.

Taylor: Who exactly are you? How are you connected to Eric?

Massimo: My name is Massimo Marone. I am not connected to Eric. I'm an old friend of Stephanie's. I stopped in to see her. Unfortunately she's out of town.

Taylor: Well, you certainly picked a great time to stop by. I'm sorry I'm not usually that emotional.

Massimo: Unless your family is being threatened.

Taylor: Yes, I do feel like it is.

Massimo: Are you familiar with the hummingbird?

Taylor: Yes, we have some in our garden.

Massimo; Mm, tiny. Barely large enough to fit in the palm of a child's hand. But aggressive, very aggressive. See, if one of their nests is threatened, they will attack viciously. They've been known to fend off animals as large as a bear by diving at them and pecking at their eyes.

Taylor: Your point?

Massimo: When one is called upon to defend one's life blood, even an animal as sweet and benign as a hummingbird will resort to becoming a killer. It will do what it must to save its young.

Taylor: Have you ever been called upon to save your family?

Massimo: More than once.

Taylor: What did you do?

Massimo: Whatever I had to.

Taylor: You mean with threats?

Massimo: No, no, no. Threats are tools of negotiation. When your family is under siege, there's no negotiation. Just reprisal, cold, deadly reprisal.

Betsy: hey, where are you going?

Bridget: Home.

Betsy: I thought you were going to wait for Deacon. Bridget, you don't have to prove anything to me. Your marriage is tight, I want to believe it.

Bridget: But you're not sure.

Betsy: It doesn't matter what I think.

Deacon: Hey, baby. Come here.

Bridget: Hey. Honey, how is little d?

Deacon: He's fine much his fever broke.

Bridget: Well, you know, you could have stayed a while.

Deacon: No, no, I wanted to come back here.

Bridget: Why?

Deacon: Because this is where I belong.

Taylor: Your solution just seems kind of extreme.

Massimo: The security of your family is at stake.

Taylor: Brooke is a troublemaker. My husband knows that. He isn't going to fall for her trap.

Massimo: There is evil in the world. Do you believe that?

Taylor: Yes.

Massimo: And evil must be fought. It cannot be ignored, right?

Taylor: Believe me, I'm not ignoring it.

Massimo: What are you doing about it?

Taylor: What am I supposed to do?

Massimo: Be a hummingbird.

Taylor: And peck the eyes out of my adversary?

Massimo: The foundation of everything that you hold dear is at stake. Is there any measure too extreme?

Taylor: I don't think I've ever met anyone like you in my life.

Massimo: I am only a man. But a man must control his own destiny. Should he not?

Taylor: Yes, but --

Massimo: No, there are no "buts". I could never leave my destiny in anybody else's hands, not even God's. Your family is under siege. You must do whatever you can to protect it. Anything less will leave you with regrets. I'm going to go now. Good luck.

Ridge: Logan, Logan, Logan Logan...

Brooke: Oh, Ridge, we can make it happen. We have a responsibility to see that it happens.

Ridge: Responsibility to leave my wife and kids?

Brooke: Don't look at it that way. You made a mistake. So did I. We had a gift, a very special gift. And we let it slip away. We gave into the pressures of your family and your mother. And we should have been together a long time ago. This isn't about Taylor or about the children. This is about your soul and what it wants, what it needs. I'm sure that Taylor is a very wonderful person. But you shouldn't be married to her. And you wouldn't be if we had our heads screwed on straight so many years ago.

Ridge: Logan, you got to stop thinking this way.

Brooke: Can you do that, Ridge? Can you stop thinking about us? Is there a day that goes by that you don't look at me and wonder what might have been? Well, we could have that. We just have to act now. Don't think about what's right and what's wrong and what people tell you ought to do. You have to listen to your heart. Here, I want you to have this. As a reminder of everything we meant to each other all those years. This -- this is sacred, Ridge.

Betsy: See you tomorrow.

Bridget: You know, I think I feel like taking a shower.

Deacon: Yeah?

Bridget: Mm-hmm. You want to come with me?

Deacon: Why don't you go ahead. I'll be in.

Bridget: Hurry.

 (Dialing phone) (phone ringing)

Amber: Hello?

Deacon: Amber, I'm so sorry.

Amber: I'm sorry and I'm horrified.

Deacon: I didn't mean to do that. It just --

Amber: I should have stopped it. I should have -- my God, you know, my husband, he is out of town for one night, one night, and I am making out with another man. God... I guess Brooke was right. You know, I am white trash. Otherwise, why the hell would I have done it?

Deacon: Stop that. I don't want to hear you do that to yourself, all right? Listen, that is not going to happen, all right? It's not going to happen again.

Amber: No, it's not, never. I've got to go.

Deacon: Wait, just... One more thing.

Amber: What is it, Deacon?

Deacon: I still love you. I hate myself for saying it, but I am so damned in love with you. Goodnight.
