Frankie: So how much do you think Cass lost in the casinos down there?
Felicia: Huh. You donít know?
Frankie: Excuse me?
Felicia: Cass is a gambler's gambler.
Frankie: Ah. You mean, he wins.
Felicia: Huh. It's a little scary, actually.
Zack: He obviously had a great time to stay an extra day.
Felicia: Yeah. It's a good thing that travel agent called me. Otherwise, I would've waited at the airport all day.
Frankie: Well, it's a good thing to hear they did have a good time, especially since we had to practically kidnap the guy to get him to take his vacation.
Zack: Here he comes.
Felicia and Frankie: Oh!
Zack: Get in position. Let's go.
Felicia: Get the lights.
Zack: Hurry up, hurry up.
Felicia: Hurry up. You got it?
Zack: Get the champagne, get the champagne.
Felicia: Oh -- thank you. Ok, ok. Shh.
Frankie: I'm so excited!
Felicia: Shh, shh, shh.
Felicia: Oh, honey!
Cass: This place looks absolutely fabulous!
Cass: And so do you. Come here.
Felicia: Oh, honey!
Felicia: So do you, except for that sunburned nose. Here. Now, no one will never notice.
Cass: Oh, well, thank you very much. So how's it going, partner?
Cass: Here, I'll trade you -- a handshake for a --
Zack: How you doing, buddy?
Cass: Just great.
Zack: Look, Staceyís got an appointment across town, but she's buying dinner, so reserve time.
Cass: Oh, yeah -- she's going to buy dinner while she will conveniently forget her purse. Hi, Frankie.
Cass: Felicia, I mean it -- the place looks absolutely great!
Felicia: Actually, it was Frankie who handled most of the details.
Cass: Oh, did she?
Zack: So how was St. Martin -- hot?
Frankie: But boring, right?
Cass: Are you kidding? I had a great time.
Cass: You all were absolutely right -- I was definitely wrong. I needed a vacation.
Zack: I never think I'd hear you admit you were wrong before.
Felicia: Oh, come on, Zack!
Cass: No, no, that's all right. He can say that. It's a testament to how good I feel.
Frankie: So you're not mad at us that we sort of forced you to take this vacation?
Cass: Frankie, I had the time of my life --
Frankie: Oh, I'm so glad.
Cass: And I owe it all to a very special friend.
Felicia: Oh, isnít that --
Caroline: Hi, everyone.
Felicia: Caroline -- hi.
Sam: Alliís fine.
Amanda: Oh, good.
Sam: But she keeps saying "go, baby, go."
Amanda: She loves having Steven here now, so --
Sam: Yeah. How long do you think that'll last?
Amanda: I'm not sure. At least Jamie has temporary custody.
Amanda: How is he? Did you see him?
Sam: He's quiet.
Sam: We're really lucky, you know that?
Amanda: I know. I love you.
Sam: I love you, too.
Amanda: Ok. I've got to go to work.
Sam: Well, wait, wait, wait a second. Come -- ok, come on. You got to take a break sometime.
Sam: Yeah, you do.
Amanda: No, I canít.
Sam: Yeah, yeah --
Amanda: I've got to go to work. Sam?
Evan: Excuse me. You think your father's company is going to be saved this way?
Donna: If Jamie thinks he can get away with this, he can just think again. Here. I brought you some toast with apple jelly.
Vicky: I'm not hungry.
Donna: I think it's mint apple. The very idea of having a custody hearing with a judge who's a friend of the Cory family. That's ridiculous and it's got to be illegal.
Vicky: Jamie got Steven. That's all that counts.
Donna: Well, it's only temporary. If we have to, we're going to go all the way to the Supreme Court with this. Drink your tea.
Vicky: No, thanks.
Donna: Your father's just as determined in this as I am and you know how he is when he gets things into his head. Victoria, please eat something. You haven't had anything since last night. You've got to eat things to keep your energy up.
Vicky: Jamie canít have Steven.
Donna: Well, of course he canít have Steven. Now, drink this tea -- it's chamomile. It's good for a nervous stomach.
Vicky: He thinks he's home free, but I will do anything. He will live to regret the day he ever did this to me.
Jamie: Time to go beddy-bye. You'll see them tomorrow. Yes, you will. I love you. Here we go. There we go, yeah. That's a good boy. Right there, yeah. Go to sleep now. Come on. That's better. I'm right here. I'm right here, yeah. Yeah, I'm right here.
Jamie: That's it. Now, come on, go to sleep now.
Jamie: Yeah. That's a good boy -- oh, it's ok. Your daddy loves you and he'll always be here. And we'll always be together. Always together. I promise you that.
Sam: Lighten up, Evan.
Amanda: Evan, I had no idea you were going to be here so early.
Evan: You know, Cory Publishing is on the line this Friday whether you're ready or not.
Amanda: I know that, Evan. Look, I'm sorry, I wasn't able to call you about --
Sam: Hold it. You donít have to explain anything to anybody.
Evan: Well, let me just explain something to you. I have been up all night getting ready to brief you and your mother.
Sam: What, do you own this house? What gives you the right to come in here and --
Amanda: Sam, it's all right. I told Hilda to let him back as soon as he came.
Evan: Maybe you just donít understand how much is riding on what happens Friday.
Sam: I understand. That doesn't give you the right to push her around.
Amanda: Sam, please. Look, Evan has been up all night, I haven't had that much sleep, so why donít we just start this all over, ok?
Sam: Fine. I'll let you two work.
Evan: Thank you.
Sam: You're welcome.
Amanda: Ahem. Sorry -- the whole house is on edge.
Evan: I donít doubt it.
Amanda: Jamie and Vicky split up.
Evan: They did?
Amanda: Jamie is here with the baby. He has temporary custody, but we donít know what's going to happen from here on in. It's been really hard on everybody. I just keep thinking about poor little Steven. He's wrapped up in the middle of all of this. What?
Evan: Oh, I was just thinking how hard it is with a baby involved.
Amanda: Oh. Look, I only have a few more pages to learn on the Higgins report, ok?
Evan: Fine. Make sure you read them before tonight.
Amanda: The meeting's at the complex?
Evan: Yes, it's going to be in the boardroom. We're doing a complete run-through, including organizing the strategy.
Amanda: Any word on who owns the Ace Corporation?
Evan: Well, I'm still working on it, but the problem is since the ace corporation isnít publicly owned, I canít get the owner's name without a court order.
Amanda: Well, we donít have time for that, do we?
Evan: No, but I have taken another route.
Amanda: Private investigator?
Evan: Well, let's just say I have some old contacts on Wall Street, but that's not what's important. I'd like to get right to the briefing. Now, where's your mother?
Amanda: Uh -- I'm afraid that's going to be another problem.
Amanda: I donít really know where she is right now.
Mitch: Come on in.
Rachel: Thank you.
Mitch: This is a coincidence.
Mitch: Well, I was going to stop by and see you. I thought you might want to know how Matthewís doing.
Rachel: Well, it's a little late for that, isnít it? You've been back for a couple of days.
Mitch: Can I get you something to drink?
Rachel: No, thank you. How is Matthew?
Mitch: Well, he's doing all right. I thought you had spoken with him.
Rachel: Yes, but you've seen him.
Mitch: Well, he still is certain that he's going to find and get back with Josie. I donít know.
Rachel: I wish he wasn't there.
Mitch: Well, he's not going to be probably much longer.
Rachel: Yeah, well, I would like him back now.
Mitch: Why, is something wrong?
Rachel: Nothing's wrong. I just would like him back.
Rachel: I -- I had a dream about him.
Mitch: About Matthew?
Mitch: Well, I mean, that's normal, isnít it? I'm sure he's been on your mind.
Rachel: It was the same kind of dream I had when Mac died. I had the same kind of dream.
Mitch: And so, what, do you think Matthew is in some sort of trouble?
Rachel: I just would like him back, that's all.
Mitch: Rachel, I -- I know that you've been going through a lot. I know that you've been upset --
Rachel: Yes, I am upset, you know. I've been waiting to hear from you since you got back. It's been two days I've been in the dark.
Mitch: Look, I'm sorry. I've been very busy with work and one thing and another. I didnít know you were so anxious.
Rachel: Why didnít you know? I told Felicia I wanted to hear from you.
Mitch: You did?
Rachel: Didnít she tell you that?
Mitch: No. No, look, I --
Rachel: I told her it was important.
Mitch: I -- I'm sorry. Hey, look, Felicia and I have barely had a chance to say hello since I got back.
Rachel: She should've told you about this. This is about our son.
Mitch: Rachel --
Rachel: Instead, I've been worrying, you know? I've been really worried about my son.
Cass: And I mean to tell you it was absolutely crystal clear.
Cass: No horror stories about, you know, pollution or oil spills or anything like that. We're talking perfection here.
Caroline: And it's the kind of place you can completely let go and let anything happen.
Felicia: Oh -- so, how did you and Caroline meet one another?
Caroline: Total coincidence.
Frankie: Yeah, right -- total coincidence.
Cass: Yeah, that was a total -- we were staying at the same hotel and we, it's -- well, it's just a small world, isnít it?
[Cass and Caroline chuckle]
Felicia: Definitely, yes.
Frankie: The last thing he needed on this vacation was for that bimbo to show up, you know? He still has to work it out about Nicole.
Felicia: Be quiet.
Cass: Zack, this place really does look terrific. You guys have worked your tails off.
Zack: Um -- Frankie was pretty much in charge and made things happen.
Cass: Oh, is that right?
Caroline: I didnít know you were a decorator, Frank.
Frankie: "Ee." Frankie.
Caroline: Now, the blues, they're almost right, but I'm not quite sure. Maybe.
Frankie: Well, what can I say? My blues just stink.
Felicia: Say nothing, nothing.
Frankie: I'm cool.
Felicia: Yes, girl. Yes.
Frankie: I'm cool. Thank you.
Cass: You ought to take a trip down there, too. It'd do you good.
Zack: Yeah, I know, but -- but I donít know.
Cass: Donít give me that "I donít know" stuff. Be a caveman, grab Ronnie, get on a plane, and get out of here.
Zack: Well, it's not that easy.
Cass: Why not? You've set aside some time for the end of the month, didnít you?
Zack: Well, yeah, but I'm not sure that Ronnie and I are that far along yet.
Cass: Well, maybe this is the way to find out.
Cass: Yeah, maybe. Hey, Frankie?
Cass: I'm sorry that I didnít get back to you after we were disconnected, but something came up.
Frankie: Oh, I hope it wasn't a big thing.
Cass: Yeah. You started to tell me about developments with Lucas?
Frankie: Yeah, well, we'll talk later when things aren't so crowded around here.
Felicia: Well, honey --
Cass: What's the matter with her?
Felicia: You can talk to her about it later. So?
Cass: Ok. So, I almost called you a couple of times.
Felicia: Me? Why?
Cass: I wanted to find out how Nicole was doing.
Felicia: Well, she's -- she's stable now.
Cass: No improvement?
Felicia: They do have her in a treatment program. It's just going to take a little time, honey. How are you doing?
Cass: I couldn't be better.
Felicia: No, no -- I mean about Nicole?
Cass: That's going to take a little time, too.
Felicia: I know.
Zack: So a real Paradise, huh?
Caroline: Oh, absolutely. What the weather and the nightlife didnít give us we kind of made up for ourselves.
Frankie: Well, you sure got yourself a nice tan there.
Caroline: Oh. Thanks.
Frankie: Yeah, but you have to be careful, you know? Tanning does tend to age a woman, but I guess you donít worry about that anymore, huh?
Caroline: Doesn't seem to affect me. Sunshine loves blond hair.
Cass: Uh -- Frankie, I wanted to thank you.
Frankie: Oh, well, sure.
Cass: The hotel room you booked for me was really perfect. Really -- the view was sensational.
Caroline: Yeah, the view was wonderful -- when we looked.
Iris: Oh, where is he? It's infuriating.
Lucas: I know, I know -- I'm late. I'm sorry.
Iris: Oh, are you? I hadn't noticed.
Iris: But now that you mention it -- by the way, do you tell the doorman not to announce you?
Lucas: He knows we're friends.
Iris: Oh, who told him that?
Lucas: And the reason I'm so late is Catherine and I were burning the midnight oil.
Iris: Lucky her.
Lucas: You know, we only got a few hours sleep. There's a lot to be done before Friday's board meeting. And that Catherine -- she is terrific. She knows just what I want just when I need it.
Iris: Hmm. Well, I prefer not to mix business with pleasure myself.
Lucas: Oh. Well, maybe you should reconsider. I've always found the two very exciting.
Lucas: I have something for you.
Iris: I canít wait.
Lucas: It's a stock profile on our favorite board member -- Ross Gordon?
Iris: Yeah, well, it's very clear that he doesn't own any stock in Ace Corporation.
Lucas: No, he doesn't, but he's just acquired large chunk of voting stock, so we'll be very, very nice to him, wonít we?
Iris: Absolutely. Yes? Oh, yes. Could you send her right up, please? Thank you. Well, obviously you have a need that must be filled.
Lucas: Excuse me?
Iris: That's Catherine. She's on her way up.
Iris: Now, what were you saying about Ace Corporation?
Lucas: Well, I'm having Catherine take care of that.
Iris: Hmm, my. How does that girl get time to fill out all her duties?
Lucas: There she is, looking terrific after three hours' sleep.
Catherine: Hello, Mrs. Wheeler.
Iris: Hello, Catherine. Can I get you anything -- some coffee or a pillow maybe?
Lucas: That's perfect!
Iris: What is?
Lucas: It seems as if the Coryís are not going to be in top form for the meeting on Friday.
Iris: What do you mean?
Lucas: Well, Rachelís son is having a custody battle.
Iris: Jamieís left Vicky?
Lucas: They were in court all day yesterday.
Lucas: Mm-hmm. Well, I guess the Coryís will be a little distracted, huh? And as I always say, never hesitate to exploit a weakness.
Donna: Now, the thing we have to remember -- even though the Coryís have judge whatever-her-name-is in their pocket, your family is very influential in this town. Your father knows lots of people in the courts, and lord knows I've given enough money to charities and enough fundraisers --
Vicky: Good. We will make it so we'll call in every favor we have ever been owed. If the Coryís want a fight, they're going to get one.
Donna: Good girl. Good.
Vicky: They are going to regret ever knowing my name. Nobody takes my son away from me!
Donna: Good for you. I was surprised at Jamie. I just didnít think he was this --
Vicky: So mean?
Vicky: He can be. I was just blind. Soft-spoken voice, his concern for all of his patients. He is a selfish, self-centered, spoiled, self-righteous brat!
Donna: Well, I just didnít think that he was capable of taking the child away from its natural mother, who's been an absolutely wonderful mother. What's wrong? What's wrong? Oh. Oh, darling.
Vicky: He's -- he's gone, Mom.
Donna: He's not gone for long. You're going to get him back. You're going to get him back.
Vicky: I miss him so much. He's everything I have. Jamie took everything -- my marriage, my happiness. Please. Donít let him take my baby.
Amanda: Nobody's seen her.
Evan: Look, I know you, I know Rachel, your entire family has had a lot to deal with lately.
Amanda: My father has died, Evan. I'd say it's a little bit more than a lot to deal with.
Evan: Well, I've been busting my hump to keep you from losing anything else, Amanda.
Amanda: I know that.
Evan: But I learned a long time ago you just canít let your personal life interfere with business.
Amanda: We're trying, Evan.
Evan: Oh, you're trying? Well, that's not good enough, Amanda. We set this briefing two days ago.
Amanda: I know that, too.
Evan: But now your mom -- she's just wandered off.
Amanda: She hasn't -- she hasn't wandered off. She has a lot on her mind.
Evan: Well, her mind should be on business.
Amanda: It will be.
Evan: Oh, it will be? Well, let me tell you something, young lady. You donít walk into a boardroom and fake it. You have to have done your homework. You must know what's going on.
Amanda: Ok, Evan.
Evan: But no, I've been so busy trying to track down you and your mother, I haven't had --
Amanda: Evan, that's enough!
Evan: Fine. We're all a little tense, I guess.
Amanda: Yeah, I guess so.
Evan: Well, I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to go back to the office. When you find your mother, why donít you give me a call?
Amanda: Look, Evan, about the Ace Corporation --
Amanda: I would -- I would swear that Iris was listening at the door when we were discussing it.
Evan: Well, that figures.
Amanda: So what do we do?
Evan: Well, I think I'll just pay her a visit on the way to the office.
Amanda: Good idea. Evan? I'm sorry about all this.
Evan: It's ok. Just call me when you find your mother.
Amanda: I will.
Sam: Is he gone, finally?
Amanda: Yeah. You know, we have a special meeting tonight at the boardroom at the conference.
Sam: Yeah, I know that. Oh, listen -- I'm going to go call Mrs. Martin and tell her that she needs to take care of Alli, ok?
Amanda: How are you doing?
Jamie: Oh, fine. Stevenís down for his nap. Ah, yeah.
Amanda: What about you? Did you get any sleep last night?
Jamie: Ah. I tell you, Amanda, I -- I keep thinking about one thing. Am I doing the right thing?
Amanda: Yeah, you are.
Jamie: There's no way I could go on living with Vicky. And there's no way I could leave Steven.
Amanda: That's what I mean. I know you're doing the right thing.
Jamie: Vicky loves Steven.
Amanda: Yeah, well, we've all seen how she treats the people that she loves.
Jamie: And she is going to fight me, Amanda.
Amanda: So let her.
Jamie: And I've seen how she is when she's backed into a corner.
Amanda: You just canít let down, Jamie.
Jamie: Vicky worrying about Steven and what all of this is going to do to him.
Amanda: Steven is still too young to really know what's going on.
Jamie: Yeah. But this is just the beginning. I think the sooner we're divorced, the better.
Iris: Well, Evan, this is a surprise. Lucas, I donít think you've met Evan Bates. Evan, this is Lucas.
Lucas: How you do?
Iris: So, Evan, what can we do for you?
Evan: Well, I just thought I'd bring by a copy of the agenda for the board meeting on Friday.
Iris: Oh, how sweet of you.
Evan: Well, if you open that up, you'll see that there's some allotted time for any comments or presentations you may care to make.
Iris: Thank you, Evan. I can read.
Evan: Now, I can assume that you'd like to say a few words?
Iris: You can bet I will.
Lucas: I think that can wait till Friday, but thank you for including her.
Evan: Oh, no problem. Now, will you be advising Iris during the meeting?
Lucas: Iris doesn't need my advice for addressing the board.
Evan: Really? I had you figured just, like, orchestrating this whole thing.
Catherine: Excuse me. I finally got through to that party you were trying to reach.
Lucas: Terrific. We'll be leaving now.
Iris: Well, thanks for stopping by.
Lucas: Nice to have met you.
Evan: Some kind of emergency?
Lucas: No, just business -- you know, the early bird, the worm --
Iris: Goodbye. Nice to see you, Catherine.
Lucas: We'll talk.
Evan: Well, you know, I suppose I should be going, too. So this means that we're going to see each other --
Evan: At the meeting on --
Iris: Why did you really come here?
Evan: I told you, Iris, to bring you a copy of the agenda.
Iris: Oh, donít give me that. What are you after?
Zack: What a great place.
Caroline: That's the view from Cass' room.
Cass: Well, from the balcony actually.
Caroline: Well, you can see the beach almost from inside the room.
Caroline: Even from the bed.
Felicia: Listen -- you did a wonderful job on the office. Cass likes it, I can tell he does.
Frankie: Yeah. Right, well, I can tell you something else he likes.
Felicia: Wait a minute -- I think you're reading too much into all of this. Cass and Caroline have always been -- well, they've been friendly.
Frankie: Oh, yeah, that's friendly, all right.
Felicia: That is not the same thing as "serious."
Frankie: Yeah, well, I donít know what the big attraction is.
Felicia: What, are you kidding me? I mean, look at her -- she's gorgeous. She's got a great body, she treats him like a king. She's got a great job --
Frankie: I'm not talking about her, Felicia. I'm talking about him. Winthrop's not a bargain, you know? He's always got that smart mouth, he talks like he's so cool -- what's to like?
Felicia: There is a lot more to Cass than you know.
Frankie: To Cass?
Frankie: You have got to be kidding.
Felicia: No, I'm not.
Frankie: Cass is this far away from being a dweeb.
Frankie: You know, and he always has the nerve to call me insensitive. Nicoleís been in the bin for, what, two weeks now, right? He's already taking vacations with Princess Di over there?
Felicia: You know something? I mean, this is just a thought, of course.
Frankie: Yeah -- what are you talking about?
Felicia: But I would say from the way you sound that you're just a -- a tad bit jealous of Caroline.
Felicia: Yeah. Pretty funny, isnít it?
Frankie: It's very funny.
Frankie: Oh, Felicia, that's, like, so far off base. It's ridiculous.
Felicia: Well, I just said it was a thought, you know.
Frankie: But it's absurd. I canít believe you would even say that.
Felicia: Think about it. I've got to say goodbye to everybody, ok?
Frankie: Ok. I'll see you later. Jealous? Oh, that -- that is rich.
Mitch: There's no need to be.
Rachel: I think I'm in control and then everything gets to me.
Mitch: You know it's going to take time.
Mitch: I'm sorry that Felicia didnít tell me that you had called. She probably left me a note, I never saw it.
Rachel: I know it's silly to worry about Matthew. I mean, not every dream is a premonition.
Rachel: Jamie and Vicky have separated.
Mitch: I heard there had been trouble.
Rachel: We were in a court hearing all yesterday. The judge has awarded temporary custody to Jamie.
Mitch: It should've made for a very long day.
Rachel: I -- I wanted to talk to Mac about it. So what do I do? I -- I have a dream about him. I try to talk to him about it in the dream. But he canít hear me. It's just hard, you know. It's hard going through this without him. The kids just turn to me.
Mitch: As they should. You're a great mother.
Rachel: The board meeting is on Friday.
Mitch: Yes, I know.
Rachel: I mean, I feel like Macís whole company is on the line and -- it's what he left his children.
Mitch: And you.
Rachel: I feel like if I'm not smart enough, you know, if I'm not sharp enough, this whole company will go to the sharks.
Mitch: You mean like Iris?
Rachel: Yeah, Iris was one of them. I mean, she's circling.
Mitch: Look, you will handle her like you always have.
Rachel: Yeah, I think I will, sometimes. The whole company's going down the tubes and the -- my whole family has been falling apart ever since Mac -- everybody keeps looking at me.
Mitch: You're the head of the family now.
Rachel: Well, I'm afraid.
Mitch: You're going to be fine.
Rachel: Yeah, well, what if I'm not? What if I canít do it? What if I canít handle all of this by myself? I'm sorry.
Rachel: I donít know why I'm going on like this to you.
Mitch: Well, you needed to talk and I said that if you ever needed me that I would be here, I meant it.
Rachel: I appreciate it. I appreciate your listening to me. I guess it's -- it's just easier to talk to somebody when they're not counting on you.
Mitch: Now, you canít let all of this stuff get you down. You canít just feel like you're holding up the world.
Rachel: Listen, when Matthew gets back, maybe we can -- maybe the three of us can go out to dinner.
Mitch: Sure. I'd like that.
Mitch: Hi, honey.
Mitch: Rachelís here.
Felicia: Yes, I can see that. Hi, Rachel.
Felicia: What's going on here?
Rachel: Well, I've got to go.
Rachel: Thanks for this.
Mitch: Wait -- that's for me. I have got to answer that.
Mitch: I'll be right back.
Felicia: Listen, why donít I make us some iced tea and -- and we can talk?
Rachel: No, I've got to go.
Felicia: Wait a minute. You know, there's nothing that I wouldnít do for you. You can always count on me.
Rachel: Can I?
Felicia: Yes. Of course you can.
Rachel: Then why didnít you give Mitch the message?
Felicia: What message? Oh, my God. I'm so sorry. I -- I forgot. I mean, it slipped my mind. I've been so preoccupied with -- with trying to find my daughter.
Rachel: Yes, I know what that's like. I know what it's like to have a child out there somewhere and you donít know what's happening to him. I've got to go.
Felicia: Rachel -- I really am very sorry.
Rachel: I know you are. So am I.
Amanda: Hi. Is everything ok?
Jamie: Oh, yeah. He was asleep before I left the room.
Amanda: Oh. Good. Maybe it was just gas pain or something. You know, you pick them up, it goes away right away.
Amanda: Makes you feel like a real earth mother.
Jamie: Yeah. Yeah.
Amanda: You know, I -- I canít help feeling really bad about all of this.
Jamie: The divorce?
Amanda: I was Vickyís friend. I was always on her side.
Jamie: Yeah, well, she was different then.
Amanda: Still, I -- I pushed for you to marry her when she found out she was pregnant.
Jamie: Amanda, I wouldnít have married her unless I'd wanted to. I fell in love with her.
Amanda: All this time, you could've been with Lisa.
Jamie: If I wanted to be with Lisa, that's where I'd be. I loved her, Amanda. But part of me wanted the -- wanted the excitement and the risk that I would have with Vicky.
Amanda: Are you saying that you loved them both at the same time?
Jamie: Well, it's possible. Donít you think?
Amanda: Yeah. Sure.
Jamie: Huh. Listen, I -- I should let you get back to work, ok?
Amanda: Yeah. Yeah, I've got a lot of stuff that I have to learn for the board meeting tomorrow.
Jamie: I understand that Evanís been really important to you these -- during all this.
Jamie: Well, it's lucky you have him.
Jamie: I'll talk to you later.
Amanda: Ok. Bye.
Evan: Iris, I'll tell you one more time -- I came by just to give you a copy of the agenda.
Iris: Nonsense, Evan. You came here to see what I was planning for the board meeting on Friday.
Evan: I wish you'd give me more credit than this, Iris.
Iris: Oh, what for?
Evan: Because of course you're planning something. Otherwise, why hire such a heavy hitter like Lucas to advise you?
Iris: Lucas has been a very great help to me.
Evan: Maybe I'm a little jealous.
Evan: I mean, we were one hell of a team, Iris.
Iris: Mm-hmm. We were, weren't we?
Evan: And we did know how to have fun.
Iris: Mm-hmm, until you decided to switch sides and sisters.
Evan: You and Lucas -- do you have the same arrangement we did?
Iris: Darling, just because you'd jump into bed with the Coryís doesn't mean to say that I run my business the same way.
Evan: I'm not in bed with anybody.
Iris: Oh, that'll be a first. Just how did you convince Rachel and darling little Amanda about -- to forgive you for all those lies?
Evan: This may be a little hard for you to grasp, Iris, but I told them the truth and then I offered to resign.
Iris: And they took one long, lingering look at you and those baby blues and decided to forgive you?
Evan: They know where my loyalty is, Iris.
Iris: Huh. I wonder if Sam knows that his wife's knight in shining armor has all sorts of ways of showing his loyalty, hmm?
Evan: You know, it's kind of funny how you've gotten me made out to be some type of gigolo. I guess I never knew how much you really did care.
Iris: Nor I you.
Evan: But do you know what I really care about more than anything right now? Cory Publishing.
Iris: Well, isnít that a coincidence, because that happens to be my great passion at the moment, too.
Evan: All right. So what's your little plan for Friday?
Iris: Well, you just might have to wait, sweetie pie. Look, Evan, I've tried to be fair. If the members of the family want to destroy Cory Publishing because they want to get at me, well -- well, I guess it is war.
Evan: I guess so, Iris.
Lucas: Mr. Bates, I see you're still here.
Evan: Yes. Actually, I was just leaving. I will see the two of you on Friday.
Iris: Friday, then.
Lucas: Any trouble?
Lucas: He's a nice-looking man. Have you known him long?
Iris: How come you're back so soon?
Lucas: Thought you might wanted to hear this news.
Iris: Oh, what news? What news?
Lucas: I found out who Ace Corporation is. You're not going to believe this. Move it along. Nothing to see.
Zack: Frankie, can you get the insurance report on the Jacobson fire for me?
Frankie: Well, it's in there.
Frankie: Well, Cass is in there with Caroline.
Zack: Well, look, I'm sure he wonít mind. Look, I really need that information, ok? Thanks.
Cass: Now, what should we do for the rest of today, huh? Technically, I'm still on vacation, you know.
Caroline: Well, maybe we could pick up where we left off in St. Martin, hmm?
Cass: Well, now, there's an interesting idea.
Cass: Are you all right?
Frankie: I'm fine, thanks. It's just that they're so heavy, you know -- ow.
Cass: Frankie, you shouldnít carry so many books. What happened? Did you hurt your hand? Let me see.
Frankie: I'm fine, thank you.
Cass: Did you hurt it?
Frankie: I'm fine, I'm fine. Thanks.
Cass: Ok, well, be careful, all right?
Frankie: Ok, great.
Zack: Did you get that report?
Frankie: Uh, look -- I'm sorry. Uh -- I'll get it later when Cass and Caroline are done talking.
Zack: It's all right.
Zack: Look, you've been kind of quiet today. Is anything wrong?
Frankie: No, no, everything's fine.
Zack: I mean, if you need to talk or anything --
Frankie: Yeah. Thanks, Zack.
Frankie: Actually, there is something, you know? Um --
Frankie: This Caroline Stafford -- what do we know about her?
Zack: Hmm, let's see. She runs an art gallery, manages some artists -- you know, things like that.
Frankie: Yeah, I know all of that, but when did she start taking an interest in Cass?
Cass: So -- so I guess I'll see you when I get there, ok?
Caroline: I'll be waiting.
Cass: Frankie, I want to talk to you alone, please.
Caroline: Nice seeing you, Zack.
Zack: Yeah, you, too.
Caroline: And the offices look really nice, frank.
Amanda: Shh. Hi.
Amanda: I love this room.
Sam: Yeah, me, too.
Amanda: It's so quiet, peaceful, safe.
Sam: Do you remember when Alli was as small as Steven?
Amanda: I was just trying to. You know, it's already blurry. Seems like such a long time ago.
Sam: Yeah. She's growing up fast, isnít she?
Amanda: I know.
Sam: You know, I was thinking.
Sam: It wouldnít be bad if we had another baby in the family.
Amanda: No, it wouldnít. Not in the immediate future, however.
Sam: Why not?
Amanda: Not when you're working so hard.
Sam: Is that going to change?
Amanda: Look, things are just a little tough right now, that's all.
Sam: Look, Amanda, I know that Cory Publishing is very important to you.
Amanda: Not more important than you and Alli. Family comes first. You do know that, donít you?
Sam: Sure. Yeah, I know, I know.
Donna: Everything is fine, darling.
Vicky: Is that what Dad says?
Donna: Everything is fine.
Vicky: It wasn't last week.
Donna: Victoria, I donít want you to worry about me and Michael when you have all these other things to deal with, all right?
Vicky: Yeah, well, the way I figure it, one marriage on the rocks in this family is enough for one year.
Donna: Well, I have to go. That nursery school is going to kill me if I'm late again. Are you all right?
Vicky: Donít worry.
Donna: I do worry. Why donít you come with me?
Vicky: No, no, thanks.
Donna: Go pick up Michael Spencer?
Vicky: I just have to be alone.
Donna: Are you sure?
Vicky: Mom, yeah, really. I'll -- I'll call you if I need anything.
Donna: How about dinner tonight?
Vicky: No, Mom -- I'll call.
Donna: Ok. I just wish -- I'll call you later. And remember -- this isnít forever. Love you. Bye.
Singer: Little blue dreamer go to sleep let's close our eyes and call the deep slumbering lamb that just begins one day is done and little dreamers spin first take my hand then let it go little blue boy you're on your own little blue wings as those feet fly little blue shoes that walk across the sky May your path be your own guide I'm with you and each day you'll grow we'll be there, too and someday you'll go we'll follow you as you go as you go
Frankie: This is serious, isnít it?
Cass: Yes, it is.
Frankie: Yeah, I can tell by the look on your face and you never want to talk to anybody alone in your office unless it's serious.
Cass: It is very serious.
Frankie: Yeah, so, look, if you're going to yell at me, Cass, just --
Cass: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, will you?
Frankie: Well, just get it over with, ok?
Cass: Frankie -- all I wanted to do was say thanks.
Frankie: Oh, you like the offices?
Cass: Well, that, too -- they're spectacular -- but what I meant was thanks for setting things up. I really needed a vacation.
Frankie: Well, sure. Sure.
Cass: You're a good friend.
Cass: And I appreciated it. Now let's get to work.
Mitch: Sorry it took so long. Sometimes I think those guys actually work at being dense.
Felicia: Rachel left.
Mitch: Are you ok?
Felicia: I was supposed to give you a message to call her the moment you got back from New York.
Mitch: Yes, I know. We talked it out. She's ok.
Felicia: No, she didnít seem that way to me.
Mitch: Was she angry with you?
Felicia: She's never really treated me quite like that. I'm actually a little worried about her.
Mitch: Look, I told her that if she ever needed me for anything, that I would be there. That's all there is to it.
Felicia: Well, I was hoping that there was something that the two of us could do together for her.
Mitch: Look, I thought you understood about Rachel.
Felicia: I do understand. Of course I understand. You know that.
Mitch: Well, whenever we had anything that we ever had, that was a long time ago.
Felicia: I know that. But Mac is gone now and you do have a child together.
Mitch: Just like you and Lucas. Look, Rachel belonged with Mac like I belong with you, ok?
Amanda: Well, if Mom isnít here -- should we just go ahead, or what?
Sam: Well, what's Evan got that's so important?
Rachel: Hello, everybody. I'm sorry I'm late. Did you start without me?
Amanda: No, no, but Evan is here.
Rachel: Yeah, I know. I saw him on the phone on the way in.
Sam: Apparently, he's got some big news.
Evan: Yeah, very big. Listen, I'm really sorry about the call.
Rachel: Well, before we start anything, I'm sorry I didnít make the earlier meeting.
Evan: Never mind that now. There's something more important to discuss -- I found out who owns the Ace Corporation.
Sam: And that big block of Cory stock?
Evan: Well, you may not like this, but it's somebody that you know very well.
Vicky: Well, yes, I've heard of you, Mr. Lucas, but I must admit I was hardly expecting a visit. What can I do for you?
Lucas: I have some news that might interest you. And then I have a proposition.
