Felicia: Oh, ok. Ok.
Felicia: A little less heart palpitations if you don't mind. A few jagged edges -- my nerves. Oh, please. All right, come on, let's just work. All right, now. All right, now, here. "Time progressed until --" "time went by until --" "as time passed --" let's just put "later." "Then, later --"
[Knock on door]
Lisa: Courtney, hi.
Courtney: Hi! How are you?
Lisa: Fine. How are you?
Courtney: You're fine?
Lisa: Mm-hmm, more or less.
Courtney: This is a face of a person that is fine?
Lisa: Oh, all right -- I've had better days.
Courtney: Well, when your ex-fiancť is on his honeymoon, you tend to have those kind of days.
Lisa: Hey, I am not just sitting around here thinking about them.
Courtney: You're not?
Lisa: No. I'm cleaning and thinking about them, watching TV and thinking about them.
Courtney: What about if we go to lunch?
Courtney: Yeah. I want you out. I want you dressed to impress. Tops -- what do you say?
Lisa: Well -- ok. Hey, Feliciaís doing a show there today. That'd be fun.
Courtney: Ok. Let's see a smile. Let's scratch the smile. Let's see some new clothes, ok? Now, come on, Lisa. Like the man said, this is the first day of the rest of your life.
Lisa: I'll pretend you didn't say that.
Iris: What do you want?
Jason: Now, is that any way to treat a guest in your -- in your lovely new palace here, huh?
Iris: You weren't invited.
Jason: Hey, I could be bringing bread, salt, or maybe a very nice housewarming gift for you for all you know.
Iris: Huh. Well, I doubt it.
Jason: Yeah. Father and daughter, huh?
Iris: I won't tolerate any rude remarks, Jason.
Jason: I like it, I like it. I like -- I like the technique, I like the brush effect, the -- the texture. Yeah, it makes a guy feel all warm and gooey inside.
Iris: Get to the point, Jason.
Jason: Mac hates all the Frames, but this is one Frame who could tell him a nice little secret about his -- his daughter.
Iris: Jason, please.
Jason: "Mac, she was the chief. She was going to take over Cory Publishing, but then she charged in at the last second to save the day." How do you think he'd feel about that? He'd probably keel right over in his tracks, wouldn't he?
Iris: All right. What do you want this time, hmm?
Jason: What do I want? That's how it always comes down to you. That's how you translate it, right?
Iris: Well, you're a very demanding man, Jason.
Jason: So you pay off Jason.
Iris: Well, let's just call it a financial relationship, hmm?
Jason: Yeah. You give Jason a few crumbs and he wags his tail and walks off the other way.
Iris: Jason, after all the money that you've demanded and received from me, I would hardly talk about crumbs!
Jason: What is a few thousand here and a few thousand there compared to the millions that you Cory's have?
Iris: Are you going to give me a lecture on poverty and wealth or are you going to try and get to the point?
Jason: The point is daddy needs to know some secrets about you.
Iris: Oh, Jason, don't start on me now! I am not in the mood!
Jason: What is your problem? You got this incredible new place, you got a huge dividend on all the money you invested in Cory Publishing.
Iris: How did you know that?
Jason: I know all about you, sweetheart.
Iris: Then why are you harassing me? Wasn't it a big enough thrill for you to go barging in on Jamieís wedding reception yesterday?
Jason: "Barge"? That's what I did, huh? I barged, huh?
Iris: Oh, yes, you barged! You were very rude to just about everybody there!
Jason: Huh, your daddy told me that this morning.
Iris: You spoke to daddy today?
Jason: Yeah. Yeah, he spoke to me.
Iris: Well, what -- what did he say?
Jason: He drove out to the farmhouse in the limo. Now, that was something you should've seen -- this big black limo coming out the farm road in the mud and the chickens and the dogs --
Iris: Jason, what --
Jason: And then it stops and then the chauffeur gets out --
Iris: Jason, what did he say?
Jason: And steps in the mud, goes around, opens the door and here this elegant topcoat, and your dignified father gets out in that fantastic ascot --
Iris: Jason, what did he talk about?
Jason: He said I will never change and he looked down his nose at me.
Iris: For God's sake, Jason, stop commenting and get to the point!
Jason: The point is I am not good enough to do Cory work anymore.
Jason: He fired me from the spa project, that's what.
Jason: Yeah. Yeah.
Iris: Well -- he -- that's absurd. He -- he would have to have a better reason than that.
Jason: He doesn't need a reason. He's a Cory -- that's the Cory way.
Iris: Jason, he must have told you why.
Jason: He didnít. He hates me -- that's why enough. And I'm just a -- hey, I'm just not positive that you didn't have something to do with him dumping on me.
Iris: Oh, shut up and let me think!
Jason: What's to think about? The game's up, Iris. Mac's done everything he could to me. I -- I think the two of us just might -- might go down together.
Iris: No, Jason. There has to be a way out of this.
Jason: There's no way out of it. I -- I think maybe you had something to do with him dumping me. There's no reason why you weren't a part of it.
Iris: Jason, just calm down.
Jason: I'm not going to calm down. There's nothing to calm down about!
Iris: Jason, please.
Jason: No. I'm just going to go talk to your daddy about you. Ok? Oh, I may not do it right now. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow. Or maybe I'll do it next week and you can sweat a little bit, ok?
Evan: Hi. Come in, come in. Come in.
Caroline: I will.
Evan: May I take your coat?
Evan: Well, you look pretty.
Caroline: My, what's this?
Evan: I had that sent up.
Caroline: How thoughtful. I like the way you think.
Caroline: Well, when you said that we needed to meet, I assumed it was business.
Evan: Actually, Caroline, I --
Caroline: I didn't realize that you were talking about other needs.
Evan: Caroline, I want to --
Caroline: You know, it doesn't mean that I can't think of those needs, like right now. I really like the fact that you needed to see me in the middle of the day.
Evan: Caroline, Caroline --
Caroline: It's really sexy when a man, you know, can't wait till sundown to --
Evan: Caroline -- right.
Caroline: Excuse me.
Evan: Well, listen, I've been doing some thinking.
Evan: Well, I want to make some changes in my life.
Caroline: Should we have lunch before or afterwards?
Evan: Caroline --
Evan: Marry me.
Felicia: Oh, honey, I -- I'm so sorry. I almost killed you. I -- I'm sorry -- look what I did.
Mitch: What is wrong with you? Hey, hey.
Felicia: I don't know what I was thinking about. You didn't use your key --
Mitch: Felicia --
Felicia: If you had used your key, I mean, I would have --
Mitch: Hey, Felicia.
Felicia: I'm sorry.
Mitch: Hey, it's ok. I'm fine. You're fine.
Felicia: In other words, I should calm down, right?
Mitch: It wouldn't hurt, you know.
Felicia: I am so sorry, really, I am.
Mitch: Well, don't be sorry, but do you realize you're letting this get to you?
Felicia: I know. I can't seem to help it. I didn't sleep very well last night.
Mitch: I know that.
Felicia: I heard every noise and every creak and the clock --
Mitch: Yes, I know you thought that that guy was coming back.
Felicia: Yeah, I did. No.
Mitch: But there was nobody there.
Felicia: No, he wasn't there. You're right. He wasnít. I know.
Mitch: You must be exhausted.
Felicia: No. Actually, I'm not. All I want to do is pace, I'm so wired.
Mitch: Look, you're going to be fine.
Felicia: You know what? I don't think that I should do my talk show today.
Mitch: Yes, you can.
Felicia: No, actually, I feel so anxious about going out.
Mitch: Look, you're going to be fine. I'll be there.
Felicia: You -- you will?
Mitch: Yes, yes, that's why I came home.
Felicia: Thank you, thank you.
Mitch: Look, you're going to be fine, but don't let this guy get to you.
Felicia: Then you do believe me, I mean, about what happened last night?
Mitch: Yes. Why wouldn't I?
Felicia: I don't know. Sometimes I don't know if I believe it myself.
Mitch: Look, I know that you were there when the lights went out.
Felicia: Mitch, there was someone in there with me.
Mitch: Look, there's no trace of them.
Felicia: He knew my name.
Mitch: I'm sorry, there's no trace.
Felicia: You know, that's really the scary part.
Mitch: What do you mean?
Felicia: Well, it's like he might be a ghost or something.
Mitch: Felicia, come on.
Felicia: Either that or --
Mitch: Or what?
Felicia: Or maybe I imagined the whole thing.
Jamie: What is it?
Vicky: Oh, I am sorry. I can't help it.
Jamie: What are you afraid of?
Vicky: It's just --
Jamie: Just what, hon?
Vicky: I've made so many mistakes in my life and done so many things to people, just crummy things, and --
Jamie: We've all done a few of those.
Vicky: Yeah, but now I'm with you, and I --
Jamie: And what?
Vicky: I don't know. It's like how can I be this happy? Maybe I just don't deserve it.
Jamie: Oh, Vicky, Vicky. People don't deserve each other. They just -- just love each other.
Vicky: Is it really that simple?
Jamie: I think so.
Jamie: Whatever happens just -- just is.
Jamie: Kind of like the night air, for instance, or the night sky.
Vicky: Oh! Right on cue.
Jamie: Why not?
Vicky: Jamie, did you do that?
Jamie: Hire the guitarist?
Jamie: See, I figured if I played my cards right, I just might get the girl.
Vicky: Oh, Jamie. You have the girl, as long as we both shall live, remember?
Jamie: Sounds great to me.
Vicky: I wanted to be so beautiful on our wedding night.
Jamie: What, do you think because you're pregnant you're not beautiful?
Vicky: Well, do you think I am?
Jamie: Yeah. All I want is just to have you close to me just like this, dancing to the music.
Vicky: Oh, well, I could get used to that.
Jamie: Do you know the words to this song?
Vicky: No, no speak-a Spanish, no.
Jamie: I'll bet there's a te quiero in here somewhere.
Vicky: Te quiero?
Jamie: It means "I love you."
Vicky: Oh, te quiero.
Jamie: We're a family now. We did it.
Jamie: So let's let go of all those insecurities and start enjoying it.
Vicky: Oh, I'll try.
Jamie: And always remember --
Jamie: We're both here because we want to be here.
[Vicky and Jamie laugh]
Vicky: Well, help me up.
Mitch: What are you working on?
Felicia: Cue cards for today's show.
Mitch: You ready?
Felicia: Mitch, you really think that Jason is involved?
Mitch: I don't know.
Felicia: You have to admit he was around when I was trapped in the restaurant.
Mitch: Look, you know I don't trust him.
Felicia: I mean, he needles me, he bugs me all the time, he put that record on.
Mitch: What record?
Felicia: It was just an old 45 I got out. He put it on the stereo. It doesn't matter. It's not really important.
Mitch: Anything with him is possible. I don't put anything past him.
Felicia: I don't really think it was him.
Mitch: And I don't know that.
Felicia: Do you think that Jason might know what my real name is? I mean, he -- let's not talk about this anymore. You're right. Ok, let me just try and do this work. It's just that I -- I'm having trouble concentrating on it.
Mitch: Well, just try harder.
Felicia: I -- this is so stupid. I don't know why I'm doing it. I'll just have them do a rerun for today's show, that's all.
Mitch: Come on, where is the old Gallant spirit?
Felicia: What spirit, Mitch? What? I mean, even the name Gallant is a total fake.
Mitch: Felicia, come on, now.
Felicia: You know that I have built my whole life on smoke and mirrors. I'm nothing more than Fanny Grady, I always have been Fanny Grady, and right now Fanny Grady is terrified and --
Felicia: Please, Mitch --
Mitch: I'll get it.
Felicia: I don't want to see anybody today, please.
Mitch: Look, you're fine. You'll be fine. Just get it together.
Felicia: I canít.
Mitch: Yes, you can. Maybe Fanny Grady can't, but Felicia Gallant Blake can. Now, come on.
Felicia: You know, you can't will this to happen. It doesn't work like that.
Mitch: Yes, you can.
Cass: Hey. Sorry to barge in on you like this.
Mitch: No -- timing couldn't be better. Come on in.
Cass: Oh, good. Hi!
Stacey: Hello, again.
Felicia: Hi. Look who's here.
Felicia: Stacey, Zack.
Cass: Brought the whole gang.
Felicia: Nice to see you.
Stacey: Nice to see you, too.
Zack: Well, look, we were on our way over to a celebration lunch, and we decided we wanted you two to join us.
Mitch: Sounds terrific, sure.
Felicia: I -- I really -- I don't think that I can.
Mitch: Actually, we can. We can stop by Tops. You have to go there on the way to the show, so sounds great. What's the celebration?
Stacey: Well, I did it. I decided to join Edwards & Winthrop.
Mitch: No kidding.
Zack: Yeah, we're really excited. I mean, the office is going like wildfire.
Cass: Yeah, it is going to be a little small, of course.
Stacey: Yeah, we'll probably end up hating each other, but, you know, what the heck.
Mitch: Well, congratulations, I hope.
Mitch: Let me get a jacket.
Zack: Oh, Mitch, you weren't by any chance the photographer who took the pictures for that article on the water department fraud, were you?
Mitch: No, but I know who did that.
Zack: Listen, we're working on a case, right, and I was wondering --
Cass: Ok, what's the deal?
Felicia: What deal?
Cass: Something is really bothering you.
Felicia: No. You know, I always get tense before I do a show, that's all.
Cass: Now, don't give me that.
Stacey: What is it? What's the matter?
Felicia: I'm fine, really.
Cass: Don't give me that, either.
Felicia: Ok. I've been having some phone calls.
Stacey: What do you mean, crank calls?
Felicia: I was in Tops last night, and the power went off, and I think somebody was in there with me.
Cass: A burglar?
Felicia: No. No, it wasn't a burglar. It was somebody who deliberately was trying to terrify me.
Cass: Why would anyone do that?
Felicia: I don't know why. It just -- it just seems to be happening.
Cass: Ok, ok, take it easy.
Felicia: Oh, I'm sorry, Cass. Stacey, I'm -- I'm sorry. It has to do with when I was a kid, I think. It has to do with this article.
Stacey: Oh, you mean the rags-to-riches publicity I've been seeing --
Stacey: Oh. Well, that's not unusual, you know.
Felicia: What do you mean?
Stacey: Well, I've had clients that have had that happen to them. You know, you get your picture in your paper or you get some sort of publicity and all --
Cass: The wackos come crawling out of the woodwork, right.
Stacey: Yeah, and especially if you're a woman.
Felicia: Why? Why a woman?
Stacey: Who knows about that.
Cass: Well, some people don't like to see women getting ahead, doing well --
Stacey: Yeah, or maybe they have trouble with women in positions of authority.
Cass: Well, don't look at me. I was at the wedding last night.
Felicia: Oh, Cass, stop.
Stacey: But you're going to have to protect yourself, Felicia.
Felicia: Right. Maybe I should start to carry a gun, is that it?
Stacey: No, no, no, but you've got to keep your eyes open and keep the doors locked, and most importantly, make sure that he doesn't get to you, because that's what he wants. He just wants to have some sort of power over you.
Mitch: Just let me know what I can help you with and I'll be glad to.
Zack: All right. Thanks, buddy.
Mitch: No problem.
Zack: Great. Well, look, I'm starving, so are we about set to go, or what?
Cass: I don't know, Zack.
Felicia: Ah, absolutely. Let's go.
Stacey: Ok, great.
Cass: Good girl. That's the ticket. We'll get the elevator.
Felicia: All right, good.
Zack: Sounds good.
Mitch: So you did change your mind.
Felicia: Well, you know what? I think it's all just because of publicity. You know, all the crazies come out of the woodwork.
Mitch: That's right.
Felicia: Right. Ok. I'll get my stuff, all right?
Felicia: I'll be right there.
Singers: "Cherish" is the word I use to describe all the feeling that I have hiding here for you inside
Cass: Hey, Felicia, we got the elevator, come on.
Cass: Hurry up.
Felicia: All right.
Jason: What, do you think a drink is going to make everything all right?
Iris: No, but I think it might calm you down so we can discuss this rationally.
Jason: There is nothing to discuss.
Iris: Yes, there is.
Jason: You don't listen very carefully. I said your old man fired me, canned me. Got it?
Iris: Look, Jason, I had nothing to do with this.
Iris: I bet our dear little Rachel had a hand in it, though. Do you want another one?
Jason: No, I don't want another one.
Iris: Listen, just give me time. I'm sure I can get daddy to change his mind.
Jason: I expected him to honor that contract, a simple contract. He talks to Cass and he finds some loophole that he can can me -- not the company, not Frame construction, just me!
Iris: I'll handle it.
Jason: Got to admit it's nice to see you squirm a little bit.
Iris: Jason, I'm trying to help you.
Jason: Oh, sure, you are. I think you're scared to death, chief.
Iris: Look, there is nothing that can't be worked out!
Jason: Yeah, as long as you can keep Jason in tow, keep him happy. Problem is you've got a problem now, Iris -- me.
Iris: And I'll find a solution, believe me!
Jason: Your father humiliated me. He didn't just take my job away. He took away everything. Now, you take that away from a Frame and a Frame's going to fight.
Iris: I've got my own money.
Jason: What, are you going to get me my respect? You going to get me my dignity back? How are you going to do that?
Iris: Jason, in time you will feel differently.
Jason: I'm not going to feel any differently.
Iris: Please, Jason. Jason, where are you going?
Iris: Jason, you're not going -- you're not going to tell daddy, are you?
Jason: Thanks for the drink, chief.
Iris: Jason, you wouldn't dare!
Jason: You can bank on it.
Caroline: All right. Ahem. So what's the joke?
Evan: There's no joke.
Caroline: You want to marry me?
Caroline: Evan, we have a little problem, darling. You don't love me.
Evan: Well, listen, why don't we get engaged, and then we'll just see what happens.
Caroline: What are you trying to do?
Evan: I'm being serious. I just don't think that we can go on like this.
Caroline: A nice casual relationship?
Caroline: Evan, love, any chance we had at a romance was shot when we were in New York years ago.
Evan: I know, but --
Caroline: And we're just a beautiful habit. Hmm?
Evan: Ok, but, see, now is the time that we can change all that.
Caroline: If we change things, we're going to lose it.
Evan: Yeah, I guess.
Caroline: But I'm touched. I really am.
Evan: That I wanted to get serious?
Caroline: No. That you wanted to make an honest woman out of me.
Evan: And an honest man out of me.
Caroline: You know, it's amazing. This is the first time we've ever really talked about us.
Evan: I know.
Caroline: We must be changing, or one of us must be.
Evan: Caroline, I really, really care about you.
Caroline: I know you do. And I care about you. But we don't care enough, do we?
Evan: Probably not.
Caroline: Do you want to tell me what's really bothering you?
Evan: How's things at the gallery?
Caroline: Great. Sam keeps drawing them in.
Evan: Good, and how's things going with him?
Caroline: Fine. I mean, you know, he's my project, so I love him.
Caroline: Hmm. But, you know, I'm getting a little possessive with him, you know. He's really quite a fascinating young man.
Evan: Sam really isn't right for Amanda, is he?
Caroline: Well, why don't you tell me about that, huh? Do you think Samís not right for Amanda?
Evan: Well, see, Sam and Amanda, they're like --
Evan: Well, they're all hearts and flowers, pure sap.
Caroline: Yeah, it is a bit sticky, isn't it? I mean, who would want that?
Caroline: Hmm. And, I mean, Amanda makes him so good. I mean, oh, she's so good, they're so good. Sort of like the way the sort of effect we had on one another when we first met in New York, hmm?
Evan: Well, times were different then.
Caroline: Well, money was certainly tighter.
Evan: You can say that again.
Caroline: You slept on the subway.
Evan: Well, I think you slept anywhere you could.
Caroline: Oh. You had great drive.
Evan: Oh, that's because there were places to go.
Caroline: Yeah, I know. We mingled with the rich and famous, and we -- God, we spun a really good story.
Evan: We made it work.
Caroline: We certainly did. And then you met Iris.
Caroline: And our whole life changed.
Courtney: Did you see those two guys checking you out over there?
Lisa: Not really.
Courtney: Lisa, I want you to be a little bit more observant.
Lisa: I'll try.
Courtney: Do you realize how much you have going for you?
Lisa: Oh, Courtney, let's not talk about me.
Courtney: Sorry, but that's why we're here.
Lisa: Oh, great.
Courtney: Do you know how many women would kill for your eyelashes?
Courtney: For what?
Lisa: For lunch and the encouragement. I need it.
Courtney: It's my pleasure. Listen, I think I'm going to powder my nose. If my drink comes back with all lime in it, make them take it back.
Lisa: Will do.
Courtney: And no sad thoughts while I'm gone?
Lisa: I'll try.
Jason: Lisa, don't tell me you're here alone.
Lisa: Don't even think of sitting down.
Vicky: Are you sure this is ok -- for the baby?
Jamie: Absolutely. What did Dr. Peterson tell you?
Vicky: She said it was fine.
Jamie: What's wrong?
Vicky: When we made love before, I could be proud of my body, and now I --
Jamie: Vicky, I love you and I want you.
Vicky: I never thought this could happen, Jamie. I want to be the best wife more than anything.
Jamie: You are the best wife. You just have to let go and trust me.
Vicky: Let go and trust you. Let go and trust.
Jason: A shame you didn't make it to Jamie and Vickyís reception. It was great. Fantastic food. Practically anybody who was anybody in Bay City was there. Enjoy your lunch, Lisa. Have a good one.
Courtney: Caught you.
Lisa: I confess. I was not thinking happy thoughts.
Courtney: If we were at the academy, I'd tell you to hit the floor and give me 20.
Lisa: There's something to be thankful for.
Courtney: Lisa, you're going to have to shape up.
Lisa: I'm trying.
Courtney: Look at me. Dumped by Zack, do I feel bad? You better believe it.
Lisa: I'd never know it.
Courtney: And he won't know it, either. The last thing I want him to hear, that I am depressed.
Lisa: Well, that's kind of hard with Jamie.
Courtney: Lisa, Jamieís married. Let it go.
Lisa: I know. I just don't know what to do next.
Courtney: What we're doing right now. You're getting decked out and moving on. Ahem.
Mitch: Yeah. No.
Felicia: Hi, Stu.
Stu: Listen, I'm glad you got here early.
Felicia: Listen, we were going to have some lunch first, but I really do need to talk the schedule with you. All right, guys, why don't you go ahead and sit down and I'll join you in a minute, all right?
Cass: Ok. Ok.
Zack: Excuse me, Cass. I have to speak to someone, ok?
Cass: Yeah, sure, Zack.
Courtney: Hello, Zack.
Zack: Lisa. You here for lunch?
Courtney: Yep. We had the afternoon off, and we decided to treat ourselves.
Courtney: Business lunch?
Zack: Yeah, yeah, sort of. Cass' sister just joined the firm today.
Courtney: Oh, good. Sounds like you're growing.
Zack: Leaps and bounds. Well, I just thought I'd stop over and say hi. Enjoy your lunch.
Courtney: You, too. Bye.
Lisa: Thanks. Bye.
Courtney: There, you see? It can be done.
Lisa: Well, you handled that very well, but I could tell.
Courtney: Tell what?
Lisa: That it hurt.
Courtney: That my heart was breaking? Wrong. My heart is definitely on the mend, definitely on the mend.
Caroline: You know, I still can't believe it.
Evan: What's that?
Caroline: That we're calling it off.
Evan: I just guess it's too casual, that's all.
Caroline: Oh, casual or not, we still made it special.
Evan: We're still friends?
Caroline: I'll settle for that. Anyway, you've been so serious the last few weeks.
Caroline: It wouldn't have anything to do with Iris, would it?
Evan: What do you mean?
Caroline: Well, I mean, she certainly has influence on you.
Evan: Iris doesn't run my life, Caroline.
Caroline: I didn't say that, but she's important. When she came to New York, everything seemed to turn for you.
Evan: Yes, when I found out she moved to Bay City.
Caroline: What do you mean?
Evan: Nothing. Nothing.
Caroline: You really are in a strange mood. Are you sure you're all right?
Evan: Yes, I'm fine.
Caroline: Well, I guess you always were a strange one.
Evan: Yes, the all-American weirdo.
Caroline: You know what I mean. As well as I know you, it's like I don't know what's going on inside. It's like you've got your own little secret agenda going on.
Evan: Maybe I do.
Caroline: Well, what is it?
[Knock on door]
Iris: I ought to die laughing with you -- oh, Caroline.
Iris: Well, it's always a pleasure to see you, especially here.
Caroline: Well, I was just leaving. Take care of yourself. Bye-bye, now.
Iris: Bye. Well, we having a little light lunch, hmm?
Evan: It's not the way it looks. I asked her to marry me.
Evan: Oh, don't worry. She said no.
Iris: Oh, I'm not worried. It's your sanity I'm concerned for. Why did you do a stupid thing like that?
Evan: Knock it off, Iris.
Iris: "Knock it off"? You toss me a bone and you expect me to ignore it? Hey, what are you up to? Hmm?
Evan: Nothing. Well, maybe -- no, I just like to keep you off balance, that's all. Would you like something to drink?
Iris: No, thank you. Look, something's happened.
Iris: It's Jason.
Iris: Look, I'm not going to let him ruin everything. He's working with someone, I know he is, and it's someone who -- who knows me.
Iris: That's why I'm here. I want you to find out who it is.
Felicia: Stu, do me a favor, will you? On the first commercial break, can you give these cards back to me? I want to look them over. I'm not remembering things too well today. All right?
Felicia: Oh, hi, honey. Stu, I'll be right over in a minute, all right?
Felicia: How you doing?
Lisa: All right. How are you?
Felicia: Yes, I'm fine. Don't I look fine?
Lisa: No, you seem nervous.
Felicia: Well, I'm always a little tense, you know, when I do the show.
Lisa: Felicia, you're never nervous when you do the show.
Felicia: Well, it's a special show. It's the Valentineís Day show.
Felicia: Ok, if I tell you something, promise not to tell anyone?
Lisa: Of course.
Felicia: I think I'm being followed.
Felicia: You know, followed, strange phone calls. Somebody is definitely trying to scare me, and you know what? It's working.
Lisa: Well, what do they say on the phone?
Felicia: Nothing. They just play a song. I know it has something to do with when I was a kid. I just don't know what.
Lisa: I hate to say this.
Felicia: Tell me, what?
Lisa: I've had the same feeling.
Lisa: Not any phone calls or anything, but I've had this feeling that I've been followed.
Mitch: When was this?
Lisa: A couple of times. Once I was in the park with Matthew, and I could swear there was someone watching us.
Mitch: Were you able to get a look and see what they looked like?
Lisa: No. That's why I didn't say anything.
Felicia: Now, listen to me. I don't want to alarm you, but, I mean, I'm not exactly the hysterical type.
Lisa: And, Felicia, if you're going to tell me to be careful, it's ok.
Felicia: Honey, keep your doors locked.
Mitch: Definitely lock your doors.
Felicia: Why would someone want to follow you and me?
Lisa: I don't know. Listen, I know you got to get ready for your show, so I'll talk to you later.
Lisa: Bye, Mitch.
Felicia: Lisa, be careful.
Lisa: I will.
Mitch: How are you doing?
Felicia: Nervous. I didn't expect Lisa to say that. It makes me wonder.
Mitch: About what?
Felicia: Well, you know, I was hoping that this might be Jason, that he might be involved in some way. I mean, he's such a creep. But, I mean, why would he want to do anything to Lisa?
Mitch: I don't know, but if Lisa is involved, it could mean that just -- well, it has to do with the Grady family.
Mitch: No, let's not think about Jason at this point. Just get ready for work.
Felicia: Ok. Ok. Mitch, look.
Vicky: Oh, this was such a surprise, Majorca.
Jamie: Oh, good.
Vicky: Is this where you changed your mind about me?
Jamie: Well, it's where I got a chance, finally, to see the person you really are.
Vicky: Hmm. Well, I know. Why don't we come back here every year for our anniversary?
Jamie: Every year?
Vicky: Yeah. We can get a little vacation home.
Jamie: Well, I know I don't think that'll work.
Vicky: Why not?
Jamie: Well, we just might decide we'd like a little bit of variety, you know?
Vicky: Oh, yeah, that's true. Coming back to the same place every year is dull.
Jamie: But we'll definitely bring the kid back, though.
Jamie: Good. That's settled.
Vicky: Oh, Jamie, we have all our lives together to plan things.
Jamie: Hmm. What do you say we just live for right now, while everything is just so -- perfect?
Vicky: I like that. Together forever, perfect forever.
Iris: Jason is threatening to tell daddy about everything once again.
Evan: Jason's all talk.
Iris: Oh, I used to think that, but he was so violent last night. He was edgy. You know, he's so sensitive about not being good enough, not having enough money. He's liable to do anything!
Evan: All right, I'll put pressure on him. I'll find out if he's working with someone and I'll find out who.
Iris: Oh, please do.
Evan: And you have to work on your father.
Iris: Oh, Jasonís timing is so uncanny.
Evan: Don't overestimate him.
Iris: I suppose you're right. You know, I should realize -- he worked on a farm. Hardly gives him qualifications for the business world. I mean, his family was so poor, they just --
[Evan slams drink down]
Evan: Iris, being rich doesn't make you a genius.
Iris: I never said it did.
Evan: Yeah, you didn't exactly play it too cool with him, did you, egging him on and rubbing his face in the dirt?
Iris: Well, I got him off our back when it needed to be done! You should be grateful.
Evan: Oh, now's the time for me to be grateful. Shall I grovel now?
Iris: I'm sorry. That was a bad choice of words. Look, I'm just edgy. I didn't mean it.
Evan: Ok, just forget it.
Iris: I won't let Jason destroy what I have with my father!
Evan: I know that.
Iris: I'm going to win, and he is not going to put me in the position like your poor mother was.
Evan: You can leave my mother out of this.
Iris: I liked her. I was fond of her.
Evan: I know, you told me that.
Iris: I was pleased when, you know, when she came between Rachel and daddy, and I didn't listen to what people said about her.
Evan: Iris, you knock it off.
Iris: Oh, but she didn't -- don't you see, she underestimated her opponent. She didn't realize how --
Evan: Don't you ever say anything about my mother again! Do you hear me! You got that?
Iris: Yes, all right. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I -- I just -- I just meant that she was robbed of so much --
Evan: She was robbed of everything! And then she was killed.
Iris: Yeah -- by Rachel Cory! And we're not going to forget that. Are we?
Cass: Don't tell me this guy is coming on to you.
Stacey: Uh, pretty unsuccessfully.
Cass: Good for you.
Jason: What is it, Cass? Nicole is not around? You think you own every lady here?
Stacey: Excuse me. I don't think that I mentioned that my name is Stacey Winthrop.
Jason: You're related to this creep?
Cass: Stace, why don't you go back to the table? I'll be right there.
Cass: Jason, most every woman is either someone's sister or someone's daughter.
Jason: Get off my back.
Cass: Well, actually, while we're together, why don't we discuss the money that you still owe Vicky. Maybe we can come up with some payment schedule.
Jason: Don't you bug me about that. You were the man that got Mac Cory to cancel my contract for the spa.
Cass: This is true.
Jason: Mm-hmm. You mess with my life and you expect to pay for it. Just expect that.
Cass: Oh, Jason, you really should use a breath spray.
Stacey: No, I have definitely run into worse than that.
Lisa: You mean you didn't fall for Jasonís special charm?
Courtney: Oh, is that what it's called?
Stacey: Oh, the years of single life.
Lisa: Oh, tell me about it.
Cass: Hi, everybody.
Stacey: Oh, Cass. We were just talking about the distinct advantages of being single in a society with double standards.
Cass: I think I'll go now. No, no, actually, for once in my life I'll do the smart thing and I'll keep my big mouth shut.
Lisa: Hmm. Stacey, congratulations on your new job.
Stacey: Oh, thanks. My partners here just bought me an exquisite lunch.
Cass: Yeah, it's the last free meal you're going to get out of us.
Lisa: Well, I am almost ready for that paralegal test.
Cass: Well, that's good, because with Stacey joining the firm, we're going to need all the help we can get.
Courtney: You going to be able to fit everyone in that small office?
Zack: Oh, not small. Intimate.
Courtney: I got an idea.
Cass: Let me guess. You've got a barn you want to convert into a suite of offices.
Courtney: No, no, I'm changing the subject. Stacey, since you are new in town and since I am determined to get Lisa out of the house, what do you say we all get together and go somewhere this week?
Stacey: I would love to do that. Since I've been back in Bay City, everything is new to me anyway, so that would be great.
Mitch: And you look terrific.
Felicia: I feel terrific, thanks to you. You got me to go to work and stop worrying about all those little dumb noises.
Mitch: Good. Remember, I'll be here.
Felicia: I love you.
Mitch: See you later.
Felicia: Ok. Oh, Stu?
Stu: Felicia, somebody gave me a note for you.
Felicia: Who was it?
Stu: Some guy who was hanging around.
Felicia: Who left you this?
Stu: Said his name was Noah.
