[Indistinct voice on P.A.]

Tad: You want to tell me why you moved out?

Cara: I'm just giving you space.

Tad: I don't remember asking for any.

Cara: I know. That's why I did it.

Tad: At least you're still wearing that.

Cara: We both agree that things just got extremely complicated, all right? Great love of your life just came back from the dead.

Tad: Cara, you and me --

Cara: And Dixie. You guys need to figure things out, and I don't want to make it harder by hanging around.

Dixie: I could use a drink myself.

J.R.: Are you crazy? I know Hayward didn't fix that bad heart of yours.

Dixie: Hey, what's the worst that could happen? I could die, right? But you don't care. You don't believe I'm your mother anyway. Oh. So you do believe.

J.R.: I didn't say that.

Dixie: It's not what you said. It's what you did.

J.R.: You're right. Who am I to tell anyone not to have a drink?

Dixie: Cheers.

J.R.: Don't!

[Machine beeping]

Jake: Baby, please. I don't know what's going on. She's supposed to be awake by now.

Anesthesiologist: Doctor to doctor, I won't sugarcoat it. She should've come out of it an hour ago. I got no explanation as to why she hasn't.

Jake: I can explain it. She's late to everything. Amanda. Come on. Please don't keep me waiting any longer.

Erica: Oh, Jack. I dreamed about this. The whole time I was locked up, first by Jane, then in Oak Haven, the only thing that kept me going was thinking of being alone with you. I didn't have a window. I didn't even know if it was day or night. Oh. When they took me away from St. Barts --

Jack: Shh.

Erica: Just before our wedding.

Jack: It's all over. And I will never let anyone take you away from me again.

David: Respirations rapid and shallow. Pulse 160.

Griffin: Hey. You all right? You look like you've seen a --

David: Dr. Castillo, you gonna just stand there and gawk or are you gonna help me keep this man alive? Let's go!

Greenlee: Yes, this is really happening.

Kendall: Zach.

David: Get an IV started.

Ryan: Kendall.

Greenlee: Let them help him first. Then you can be with him.

Griffin: You want to tell me what we're up against here?

David: He's fighting a systemic infection.

Griffin: Caused by?

David: Why don't we point fingers later, all right? Right now, this man needs antibiotics and fluids pumped into him as fast as we can get them.

Griffin: You had this whole time -- excuse me. You didn't tell me?

David: You want to crucify me? That line is outside. Right here, a man is dying.

Griffin: For the second time, David.

David: That's entirely up to you, Doctor. In case you've forgotten, I lost my medical license. Legally, I'm not allowed to do anything to help him.

Griffin: Oh, so you're concerned with legalities now.

David: The way I see it, you have two choices. You could either be the hero, or you can go outside and inform Kendall that she's become a widow twice over.

Greenlee: I know you must have a lot of questions.

Ryan: We all do.

Kendall: Right now just one. How?

Ryan: We don't have the whole story.

Greenlee: But here's what we do know.

Erica: Oh, Jack. You didn't have to do this. You didn't have to take me on this trip.

Jack: Well, to be honest, my motives weren't entirely unselfish. I didn't want to share you with anyone. Are you hungry?

Erica: I'm starving.

Jack: Good. Hang right there.

Erica: Ha!

Jack: There you go. Take a bite of one of these. It's those little cakes that you are so fond of.

Erica: Oh, Jack! Oh, Jack! Where did you get these?

Jack: Well, in my travels, I stumbled across this little patisserie and so I sent the hotel guy down there to get some for us.

Erica: Mmm! Heaven.

Jack: Mm. Sure.

Erica: [Giggles] This is so beautiful.

Jack: Good.

Erica: I still can't believe that you flew to Brazil, you found Jane, somehow brought her back to Pine Valley, got her to confess to everything. I mean, she took my life, and you got it back for me.

Jack: Not as quickly as I should have, though.

Erica: Well, that's true. I mean, one look at her, and you should've known it wasn't me.

Jack: I knew something wasn't right.

Erica: Something? You looked into her eyes. You slept in the same bed.

Jack: And that is all we did in that bed.

Dixie: It's nice to see that you care about my life, even as you're ruining your own.

J.R.: You don't get to do this.

Dixie: Do what?

J.R.: Pop in and out of my life, tell me what I can and can't do.

Dixie: Why? Because you're all grown up now? You're certainly not acting like it.

J.R.: Tad already gave me the tough love speech.

Dixie: Well, apparently, he's not tough enough.

J.R.: You see this? It's my choice.

Dixie: It's not a choice. You call that a choice? What does your son think about that choice?

J.R.: Leave A.J. out of this.

Dixie: He loves you. You're hurting him. Don't you realize that? Just like you're hurting me. You're hurting Tad.

J.R.: Leave me alone, too.

Dixie: Ok. I get it. You're the big man now. Ok, how about this: How about every time you take a drink, I'll take one, too? Let's see if you can keep up with me.

J.R.: Get out of here.

Dixie: No.

J.R.: You always end up leaving anyway. So why don't you save us both a lot of grief and just go?

Tad: No. Don't do this, ok? Please don't do this. Don't -- don't leave. Don't. You can't. For one thing, let's not forget the reason we got married in the first place. We can't risk you being deported.

Cara: I appreciate that, and if it's ok with you, I would like to continue to keep up appearances. I'd like to have the mail sent to your home, and I will stop by from time to time.

Tad: And do what? Send out Christmas cards together?

Cara: Whatever it takes.

Tad: This is crazy. Where are you gonna go? Where are you gonna stay?

Cara: I'm actually staying here at the hospital. I'm in the on-call room. It's very comfortable here.

Tad: So now you're telling me you're gonna end up fighting some first-year resident for a pillow? What sense does that make?

Cara: It's not gonna be for long, ok?

Tad: How long?

Cara: Until you and Dixie figure out where you two are.

Tad: Well, I got news for you. We were never especially good at that. And that was before she came back from the dead. You're my family. You know how the girls feel about you. What am I supposed to tell them? What am I supposed to tell Kathy?

Cara: They're gonna be fine. They have their real mothers now. Both of them, you know? I'll tell you -- this is just karma. That's what this is. Because Jake was perfectly happy with Amanda and their child before I showed up out of the blue and that just screwed everything up for them.

Tad: Don't you say that. Don't you ever say that. You want to talk about karma? You want to talk about your karma? You saved Jake's life.

Cara: Thank you. Look. Here's the deal. If you want to try again with Dixie, I want you to have that chance. I don't want to hold you back.

Tad: How do you think you're doing that?

Cara: Because I know you. I know you. You give your word, you're not gonna break that. You've made a commitment to me and no matter what it costs you, you won't break that. And who knows? Maybe -- maybe you and I will take that trip to Martha's Vineyard -- and maybe we won't. But either way, I will be so happy that you found love again. Excuse me.

[Machine beeping]

Jake: You have to have some sort of explanation for this. A delayed emergence -- it's rare.

Anesthesiologist: We'll check her kidney function, but some patients just have a rough reaction to anesthesia.

Jake: It was the brief arrhythmia on the table, wasn't it?

Anesthesiologist: Possibly.

Jake: Great. I had a patient in the field with a similar experience, and that guy -- that guy's still in a coma today.

[Machine beeping]

Ryan: David must have found Zach after the plane crash and somehow kept him alive.

Greenlee: Just like he did with me after my motorcycle accident.

Kendall: How is that possible? And why am I finding out about this right now?

Ryan: Those are both really good questions, and after David finishes helping Zach, we will get some answers.

Kendall: So -- you just woke up and -- and Zach was there?

Greenlee: We were locked in a room together.

Kendall: So David was holding him against his will.

Greenlee: We don't know that.

Kendall: Then why else wouldn't he come back to me?

Bianca: Ryan, I got your message, but I must've heard you wrong. I thought that you said that Zach was -- alive. Oh. Oh. Oh, but how? Where has he been all this time?

Greenlee: David had him hidden away.

Bianca: What's wrong with him?

Ryan: He's got some sort of an infection.

Bianca: Is he gonna be ok?

Dixie: J.R., you have to know how sorry I am that I haven't been here for you, but I love you so much. Everything I've done is to get back to you, to my family.

J.R.: Family? Is that a joke? That family was a mess long before you ever took your little trip to the great beyond, and I'm sure you'll find a way to blame that on Hayward. Because he forced you to sleep with him while you were married to Tad, right? And you had to run off to Europe to find yourself, without telling us the most important detail, that you were pregnant.

Dixie: Sorry, J.R. I'm sorry. Ok? I know I made a lot of mistakes. A lot.

J.R.: A mistake? A mistake is using your salad fork for an entree. Or forgetting to take your library book back. But running out on your husband and your son, that is not a mistake. That's a travesty. You know what I was doing the whole time you were gone? Trying to keep my family together. Trying to make that perfect family that I never had.

Dixie: J.R., you can have a perfect family --

J.R.: What are you gonna offer me? What kind of advice? Other than to run, because that's always been your choice. When I needed you the most, you left me with my father.

Dixie: Adam -- he loves you.

J.R.: In his own way, right? So do you. The wrong kind of love -- it can be poison. The kind that didn't kill you. I tried being like my father. I tried to not be like him. I just ended up failing miserably. Now I'm just a drunk. So since you're not dead -- you're gonna have to learn to live with that.

[Machine beeping]

Jake: You know -- I gave Trevor his breakfast this morning, and you know how normally he's so quiet, but he couldn't stop talking like a blue streak. I think it's just because he was nervous about you, and he didn't understand. He seemed upset about something. He said he was trying to tell you something and wasn't ab -- able --

Amanda: Trevor was trying to tell me a joke, but he couldn't remember the punch line. And he was trying to cheer me up before my surgery.

Jake: Guess that's what it was. You know, you left me for too long.

Amanda: I'm sorry I worried you. But I wish you hadn't woke me up, Jake. It was so beautiful.

Jake: By all accounts, your surgery was perfect. Had a moment, though, a moment on the table where your heart was doing gymnastics. You pretty much got all perfect scores except this one judge. He was like, "What?" And they were like, "well -- " surgeon says they got all the cancer, and hopefully the lab will confirm that, ok?

Amanda: We don't need to wait on the test results. I know I'm cancer-free.

Jake: How do you know that, baby?

Amanda: Because they told me.

Jake: Who told you?

Amanda: I can't remember, but I'm sure I'm ok.

Jake: Wow. Maybe you were just dreaming, you know? You were down pretty hard, so maybe that's what it was.

Amanda: No, it wasn't a dream. It was the most beautiful place. And I knew that you and Trevor were waiting on me, but I didn't want to leave.

Jake: Hmm. I'm certainly glad you came back for the party. Complete with balloons. You see? Somebody sent you some balloons.

Amanda: My dad was there. He was talking to me. And Harold.

Jake: The dog Harold?

Amanda: He had cancer, too, and he jumped in my lap, and he licked me in the face.

Jake: [Chuckles] You sure it wasn't me? I was hovering pretty closely there for a while in your personal space.

Amanda: I'm serious, Jake. Something's gonna happen. Something amazing.

Jack: I'll never doubt you again. I can promise you that.

Erica: I'm gonna hold you to it.

Jack: Sure, you will. What is it?

Erica: Oh, nothing.

Jack: Well, here I am in the city of lights in a beautiful hotel with the most beautiful woman in the world, with whom I'm madly in love, but where are you?

Erica: I'm right here. I'm right here with you.

Dixie: J.R., I am so sorry that you're in so much pain. I am.

J.R.: That's all right. I know exactly how to numb it.

Dixie: You know, when they took Kate from me --

J.R.: Kathy. Her name is Kathy.

Dixie: Kathy. You know, they kept her from me.

J.R.: Yeah. Who kept you from me? You know, when you got back from Europe, it was weeks before I even knew that you were here.

Dixie: I'm so sorry, J.R. I'm so sorry, but it's the past. I can't do anything about it now, but I'm here. I'm here now.

J.R.: For how long, till it becomes too hard or something or someone better comes along?

Tad: Hey! That's enough. Nothing that has happened this time around is her fault. You want to get angry at somebody, you get angry at me.

Kendall: I thought I'd finally figured out how to live my life without him. I was moving on, Binks. How terrible is that?

Bianca: How could you possibly have known? Zach wanted you and the boys to be happy, to live, and you thought he was dead. We all did.

Kendall: I should've listened to my heart when it told me that he wasn't. He needs to make it. Zach is fighting his way back to us.

Bianca: Yeah. He's not gonna stop fighting now.

Kendall: David did this. I don't know how, but he did.

Bianca: Don't question it now, ok? This is a miracle, and Zach is alive, and he just needs our positive energy now to get better and to stay that way.

Kendall: The boys, the boys, Spike and Ian.

Bianca: They get their dad back.

Kendall: Mom. Mom.

Bianca: Oh, she's in France. Uncle Jack took her away. One of us will call her. You just need to focus here, ok? Stay strong for Zach.

Ryan: If you were so hell-bent on going off with David --

Greenlee: You would've tried to talk me out of it.

Ryan: Yeah. I would've, and when that didn't work -- because we all know when you set your mind on something, there's no changing it -- at least I would've gone with you, and I would've been able to watch your back.

Greenlee: You're right. I'm sorry.

David: He's not responding.

Griffin: You need to tell me everything you've done to him.

David: Nothing I haven't tried before. I was slowly withdrawing the Orpheus treatment along with the accompanying sedatives.

Griffin: And the infection?

David: That was a recent development. Once he showed signs, I added the antibiotic.

Griffin: Which apparently didn't work.

David: That's because Zach here pulled out his I.V. before they had a chance to.

Griffin: Should've kept me informed.

David: Oh, really? Why would I do that, Doctor? Don't you already feel compromised with what little you did know?

Griffin: You would've had backup.

David: Oh, yeah? And who said I don't?

Griffin: The games, Dr. H. You're playing with people's lives here. You said so yourself on that DVD, that I was the only one who had the ability to carry out this treatment. If that were true, then you should've brought me on board, all the way on board.

David: Maybe you should ask yourself what you're really angry about here. Is it because you missed your chance at being a part of medical history, or is it because you fell in love with Kendall, only to find out that her husband is still alive? Or maybe it's a little bit of both.

Griffin: What was the idea behind putting Greenlee in with Zach?

David: I thought some familiar stimuli might help bring him back to consciousness again.

Griffin: Contact with someone he knew.

David: Yes. That's right. She was available, and she was determined to find out what I was capable of, so why not?

Griffin: Well, I'll let you make that argument with Ryan. I've done everything I can for him. If his fever doesn't break soon, his organs are all going to --

David: It'll break.

Griffin: You better hope so, and you're right about Kendall. Someone I care about deeply just saw her dead husband wheeled into this E.R. alive. You've given Kendall hope, and if what you did takes that away again, you're gonna wish you were dead.

Greenlee: When David figured out my symptoms weren't real, I tried to leave, and that's when he drugged me.

Ryan: Son of a bitch.

Greenlee: Yeah. Well, you know what? He's keeping Zach alive, and there will be plenty of people to go after David later. I need to call my dad. Can I borrow your phone?

Ryan: Yeah, yeah.

Greenlee: Thank you.

Ryan: Ok.

Griffin: Looks like for the moment, we have the infection under control. His temperature has come down a little. Kendall, hey --

Kendall: I'm fine. I'm fine.

Griffin: No, you're not. Would you get your sister a glass of water?

Bianca: Of course.

Griffin: Thank you. Come here. Sit down. Sit. Listen. I -- I can imagine that this would be quite a shock for anyone, but you're my heart patient.

Kendall: I'm ok. I'm all right.

Griffin: I'm gonna give you something for your anxiety.

Kendall: Don't. Don't. Don't pull the doctor card with me. Did you know?

Griffin: Kendall --

Kendall: Is that why you pulled away from me? All those times you said that Zach could be alive, did you know for a fact that he was?

Greenlee: Dad, are you and Erica sitting down?

Jack: One of us is. Greenlee, is it -- is it that bad?

Greenlee: That good. Turns out, Dixie isn't the only one who's come back.

Jack: Who is it now?

Greenlee: Zach.

Jake: You know, you scared me. You were gone so long.

Amanda: Jake, we don't have to be afraid anymore.

Dixie: How'd you find me?

Tad: It's a piece of cake. You agreed to stay away from J.R., pretty much guaranteed you were on your way over here.

J.R.: Right, here or somewhere new to find yourself all over again.

Tad: I'm sorry. You're gonna have to learn to ignore him while he's drunk.

J.R.: Yep. Yeah, and getting drunker.

Tad: Why? You still pissed that I let you spend the night in jail to dry out?

J.R.: That's gonna cost me my kid.

Tad: Right. That's gonna cost you A.J. It's the same old song and dance, isn't it, J.R.? Whenever you need anybody to blame, it's somebody else. It's me. Now it's your mother. Maybe it's Marissa or Scott or Adam. You really want to find the problem, it's no further away than the nearest mirror, though I got to warn you, it's not very pretty.

J.R.: Right. Yeah. From now on, what I do, where I go -- my choice. I don't need any of you.

Dixie: The hell you don't. No. I did not drag myself back from the dead to bury a son. I am moving in here, and I am not leaving until I make things right.

Erica: How's Kendall doing?

Greenlee: Well, under the circumstances, she's doing ok. Griffin is checking her out now.

Erica: Checking her out? Is she all right. Is it her heart?

Greenlee: Well, she's had quite a shock -- we all have -- and we're all here for her.

Erica: All right. I'll be on the next plane home.

Bianca: Is that my mom?

Greenlee: You know what? I've got Bianca here for you.

Bianca: Mom?

Erica: You tell Kendall I'll be there in the morning.

Bianca: No. I don't think you need to do that.

Erica: Why not?

Bianca: Well, I drove by the penthouse on my way over, and there's an army of paparazzi camped outside. I guess with everything that's going on with you -- I mean, the kidnapping, David's stabbing, the Oak Haven fire, Jane's confession --

Erica: So what you're saying is that if I were to come home, I would just lead the whole media circus right to Kendall.

Bianca: Just stay there with Uncle Jack. You just got there. Get some rest, and then this'll all die down, and then you can come and be here with Kendall without the cameras.

Erica: How is Zach?

Bianca: Well, he's still fighting an infection, but I'll keep you in the loop, and I promise I'll tell Kendall to call you as soon as she can.

Erica: Ok, honey, and then you take care of your sister.

Bianca: I will. I love you, Mom.

Erica: I love you, too, honey. So Zach is alive. He's really alive.

Griffin: You're normal.

Kendall: Yeah. We have moved completely past normal.

Griffin: No argument here.

Ryan: Can I get you guys anything?

Kendall: I'm fine.

Griffin: She could use something to eat.

Ryan: I'm on it.

Griffin: Thank you.

Kendall: You still never answered my question.

Griffin: With everything we've gone through these past few months, you should never have to ask. We never decided what this was between us, what we are to each other, but you should know that, if anything, Kendall, we are friends. So did I know for a fact that Zach was alive and then not tell you?

Kendall: You would never keep something like that from me. I'm sorry.

Griffin: You don't have to apologize to me. I'm happy for you.

Kendall: Thank you.

Griffin: You can see your husband now.

Tad: I don't think it's a very good idea for you to move in here.

Dixie: Well, why not?

Tad: Well, I think you would be more comfortable at my house. No. Hey, look. Kathy would love to have you there. It's important that you're there for her, and we don't know what David has done to you, ok? Nobody does. You need to be checked out. You need to recover, and I don't think this is the place for you to do it.

J.R.: First time in a while I actually agree with Tad.

Dixie: Well, I think it's not up to either one of you. I just heard you say to him that he blames everybody else for his problems, right, and isn't that the same thing that you've just been accusing me of, that I'm always the victim of what everybody "does" to me, that it's never my fault, never lands on me, it's never Dixie? Well, if that's the case, then that has to stop. That has to stop right now, because you're my son, and if you go down, that's my failure. It's my failure as a mother. You say that I screwed up your life? Ok. Ok. You're right. I own that.

J.R.: You know what? Save the mother-of-the-year speech for someone who cares. I'm out of ice.

Dixie: Son. My son, please. You cannot blame me for ruining your life and then not allow me to just try to fix it. You can't tell me that I'm always leaving you and then tell me to go. You say that all you want is somebody who cares enough about you to stick around. Well, guess what. I'm here now, ok?

Jake: Come in.

Cara: Hi.

Jake: Hi.

Cara: I have the results from the lab.

Amanda: My cancer is gone.

Cara: It is. We were able to get all the involved tissue, so very happy for you guys.

Jake: Thank you.

Cara: Here, Jake.

Jake: Yeah.

Cara: So you had a good feeling about the surgery, I take it, huh?

Jake: Amanda had some very vivid dreams when she was under anesthesia.

Amanda: I told you, they weren't dreams.

Jake: Ok. All right.

Amanda: I saw what's going to happen, and it's gonna be wonderful, and we're all gonna be a part of it.

J.R.: This is my home, and you're not welcome here.

Dixie: I -- all right. Well, then let's call Adam, all right? I think he'd be very interested to know what's going on here.

J.R.: All right. Fine. Stay wherever you want, ok? Take the whole damn wing. You stay out of my way.

Dixie: No. I'm gonna be in your way 24/7.

J.R.: I said I don't need your help!

Dixie: Ok. Ok. You don't need my help. What do you want?

J.R.: I just want my son back.

Dixie: Ok. Then we both want the same thing, because I just want my son back, too.

Jack: You know, I've got a wonderful idea. Let's let the world turn a couple of times without us. What do you say?

Erica: I say that's a wonderful idea. Love the sound of that. You know --

Jack: What?

Erica: We were supposed to be married by now.

Jack: Yeah. Eh, the hell with it. You want to skip straight to the honeymoon?

Erica: I won't tell if you don't.

Jack: Hmm.

Bianca: People are gonna come after you for this.

David: So what else is new, Bianca? The people in this town will always find ways to see what I'm doing as wrong.

Bianca: Yeah, but what really matters right now is that Zach is alive and that Spike and Ian and Kendall can be a family again, and that is all because of you.

David: Well, I appreciate you saying that, Bianca. Didn't I tell you? Once I gave them back the loved ones they lost, they'd come around.

Griffin: I doubt anyone will be putting up a statue of you in the town square just yet.

David: Well, just give them some time. You know, it's not too late to change sides, Dr. Castillo, to be a part of the miracles that I'm performing, unless you're so determined to keep fighting me with everyone else.

Ryan: Hayward looks awfully happy with himself, doesn't he?

Greenlee: He gave us Zach back. Something like that buys a lot of forgiveness.

Ryan: It also raises a hell of a lot of questions, like how the hell was Hayward there when Zach's plane went in the ocean?

Zach: Kendall.
