Jack: Where have you been? I called your cell phone a dozen times. When you didn't get back to me --

Jane: Make love to me, Jack. Please. I don't understand. Don't you want to?

Jack: Yes, of course, I want to. I want that more than anything.

Jane: Well, then what are you waiting for?

Jack: Answers.

Amanda: Human pa --

Cara: Papillomavirus. It's a long, scary name for a very common disease. It's actually so common that we've now suggested that women get vaccinated before they become sexually active. So your Ob is gonna go over all of this with you, ok?

Amanda: So, I mean, how could I not -- before the spotting and cramping, there was nothing.

Cara: Very often, people don't know that they actually have this. And that's why it's so widespread.

Amanda: So what now? I mean, do I take medicine, or --

Cara: Ok, what we need to do is find out what you're dealing with. In some cases, this virus can have little to no effect. Other cases, there can be serious complications.

Amanda: But it's definitely contracted through --

Cara: Sexual contact, yes. This doesn't have to be recent. This infection can go back months, even years.

Amanda: Years?

David: You. Have faith in me.

Angie: Is that really so hard to believe?

David: Frankly, yes. One minute you're accusing me of lying, working you. The next, you're singing my praises.

Angie: Let's not go overboard. I am in no way suggesting that I have faith in you as a man or a friend or a father.

David: I get the picture.

Angie: But as a doctor, results don't lie, and you have proven yourself over and over again in that operating room. So whatever personal flaws you have --

David: Of which I have many, I'm sure.

Angie: I have no doubt that you are a gifted healer.

David: Angie, Angie, Angie. Now who's working whom?

Greenlee: Well, you're lucky it was Angie that walked in and not David.

Ryan: She said she would help any way she can.

Greenlee: God, I love that woman. So? Did you find anything to incriminate him?

Ryan: Nothing I can really use. I did find something a little bit curious. I found this plastic key card with a logo on it. It had a barcode, a bunch of numbers, and it was titled "Project Orpheus."

Greenlee: What the hell is that?

Ryan: I don't know. I don't know, but I'm gonna find out.

Kendall: You came home for me. I didn't mean -- I know Pine Valley isn't your home.

Griffin: Maybe I'm starting to think it can be. There I was at the airport, pissed that I'd missed my flight. Nothing to do, so I took out your camera, started going through all those pictures. All those faces of you and the kids. Cara, Tad. I don't know. It just hit me. I was about to get on a plane, escape to another hemisphere, when all I really want is to be right here.

Kendall: In Pine Valley.

Griffin: With you.

Jack: Do you really think I don't know what you're doing?

Jane: And what's that?

Jack: Using sex to change the subject, but the subject is you. Erica, you haven't been yourself, not for a long time.

Jane: Not since the kidnapping.

Jack: That's right. That's right. You do see that, don't you?

Jane: Of course, I see it. Of course, I do. And I just don't know what's wrong with me. I mean, I'm trying to put that nightmare in the past. But every time I close my eyes or hear footsteps behind me, I just -- I don't -- but I will get it together. I promise.

Jack: You need help.

Jane: Don't be silly. All I need is you. You.

Jack: Come here. Sit down. Look. This -- this is out of my league. I honestly think you have post-traumatic stress. And I think you need to see a professional.

Jane: You know what? You're right. I do need help. And I am getting all the help I need, because of my job at the hospital. Knowing that I have a hand in healing people? That's what's going to heal me.

Jack: I think you would've done a lot better helping people, healing people if you hadn't made a deal with the devil.

Jane: What do I know about medicine? But David --

Jack: David is a megalomaniac who chews people up and spits them out. That's what David is.

Jane: Well, isn't it a good thing, then, that I'm not just people? That I'm Erica Kane!

Jack: You're not gonna cute your way out of this.

Jane: No, I'm not trying to. I -- I'm just saying. Look, David needed something, and I delivered, and you know what that means? That means that I've got him right where I want him.

Angie: For a man who's constantly beating his chest and demanding the world pays him respect, you certainly don't handle compliments well.

David: Maybe I'm just not used to receiving them, huh?

Angie: And whose fault is that?

David: All right. Other eye.

Angie: You still never answered my question. About the first patient you lost.

David: I did answer. I don't remember.

Angie: Bull.

David: It was probably during my Oncology residency. We seemed to be losing someone every day then.

Angie: Jim Shelton. 37 years old. Husband to wife Olivia. Father to daughters Elizabeth and Mandy. Car accident. Ugly. Finally got him stabilized, brought the family in. I was an intern, and I -- it was the first time that I'd witnessed relief like that. Pure, unabandoned relief. The family was literally counting their blessings -- until they weren't.

David: What happened?

Angie: Pulmonary embolism. Just like that, he was gone. I was shocked at how much it affected me, how many mornings I woke up thinking about him -- months after he was gone. Everyone remembers their first. Even you.

David: It was my father.

Greenlee: Project Orpheus. Never heard of it.

Ryan: All I could find on the Internet was some information on some arts projects and then a lot of information on the myth.

Greenlee: Refresh my memory?

Ryan: What, you're not up on your Greek mythology? Orpheus. He was a prophet and a musician.

Greenlee: I knew that part. I did.

Ryan: Ok. I totally believe you. Anyway, he descends into hell to rescue his wife.

Greenlee: Eurydice. That's right. Lavery, eat your words.

Ryan: I am very impressed with that. Anyway, only to lose her forever, because he disobeys the rules.

Greenlee: Bummer.

Ryan: Yeah.

Greenlee: Well, while you were snooping around hospital offices, I did some research of my own. It turns out that spa that Erica supposedly went to has no record of her being there. No treatments booked, no room reservation, nothing.

Ryan: Then where is she?

Greenlee: And with who?

Amanda: I can't believe this is happening.

Cara: Look, like I said, your Ob will answer any questions that you have, ok?

Amanda: You're here now. Just tell me, what do I need to know?

Cara: Ok. You know how Dr. Kapoor took your pap test? The results came back inconclusive, so we're running the test again.

Amanda: Why? What would you be looking for?

Cara: Your HPV test suggested you may be high-risk. That, on top of your cervical inflammation -- we need to rule everything out.

Amanda: Everything? You're starting to scare me.

Cara: I don't want you to be scared.

Amanda: Is this about the cervical cancer thing? Because you said that HPV could cause it.

Cara: It is a primary precursor, yes, but you know what? I don't want you to worry. Let's just wait for the test to come back, ok?

Kendall: I'm glad you're here.

Griffin: Me, too.

Kendall: I'm even more glad you owned up to the real reason why you came back.

Griffin: You're gonna make me regret this, aren't you?

Kendall: Oh, no. No. Actually, these feelings that you're having -- I'm having the same feelings. I just didn't want to push.

Griffin: Me, neither. I mean, after everything you've been through, I know this can't be easy for you.

Kendall: You're about the only person who actually gets that.

Griffin: It's why I didn't call you when I got back. I didn't want to scare you. I didn't want to overwhelm you. I was just -- I was stupid.

Kendall: No, no, it wasn't. The crazy thing is, in trying not to scare me, you actually did just the opposite. When -- when Ryan told me you never got on that plane, and that no one had any idea where you were --

Griffin: Zach. I am so sorry, Kendall. I never meant to put you through any of that.

Kendall: It's ok. Actually, it was a wake-up call. Made me realize I haven't fully dealt with his death yet.

Griffin: Zach was an enormous part of your life, and I can't even think of ever trying to replace him. But over the last year, you and I have gone from doctor/patient to friends to something more. A lot more. I don't know where this is gonna take us, Kendall. But --

Jane: Everything is gonna be just fine. You'll see. What?

Jack: I'm looking for the woman I love. But I gotta tell you, I look at you, I don't see her. Not at all.

Jane: What do you mean?

Jack: Don't you want us to go back to the way it was?

Jane: Oh, Jack, you have no idea. That is exactly what I want.

Jack: Then let me help you. Meet me halfway, Erica. Halfway.

Jane: I am. I -- I just need more time. That's all.

Jack: And if time isn't what you need, then what?

Jane: Then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Jack: We're already at that bridge. That's what I think. I love you. I love you more than life itself, and you know that. So great, you think you can do this with a little more time. We'll give it a try, but something's gotta give, and I don't mean maybe. You do understand that?

Jane: I do.

Jack: Good. Where the hell are you going?

Jane: The hospital. It's my therapy, remember?

Angie: You treated your own father?

David: No. But he was the first person I lost I felt responsible for. If I'd known what my mother was putting him through, really known, maybe I could've stopped him. Kept him from --

Angie: He committed suicide?

David: Yes. And I saw him do it. I guess I drew the short straw that day, huh?

Angie: David --

David: So there you have it. Did you get what you were looking for in my brilliant yet wounded psyche?

Angie: I'm sorry that happened to you.

David: Right. That's it for today. And for the record, I know you have your doubts, but restoring your sight means more to me than you will ever know.

Greenlee: I had a little run-in with David.

Ryan: She says casually, like an afterthought. What happened to me handling him?

Greenlee: That's a rhetorical question, right?

Ryan: Well?

Greenlee: Well, I asked him outright if he was messing around with Erica.

Ryan: And did he give you anything?

Greenlee: Besides grief for being jealous? No. He swore it was just business.

Ryan: Of course, he did. Look. I know that you're worried about your dad, ok? I am, too. I really am. But you gotta do me a favor.

Greenlee: Depends on what it is.

Ryan: Stop poking around the hornet's nest, ok? David is a dangerous guy, and that's on a good day, but when he feels cornered -- just -- just be careful, ok?

Greenlee: That goes for you, too. You think that Erica is the key, and she may be, but the more you push her, the closer she'll go to David. Believe me. If anyone knows, I know that.

Ryan: I hear you.

Greenlee: Good. And I know it doesn't always seem like it, but I hear you, too.

Ryan: Doesn't always seem like it. I gotta go.

Greenlee: Ok. I'll see you at home. Madison.

Madison: Hey.

Ryan: Hey. Wow. I -- I almost didn't recognize you.

Madison: That's the idea.

Ryan: Yeah, well, you look like a woman who knows what she wants. So I really -- I really, really hope you get it. I do.

Madison: Thanks. Me, too.

Greenlee: Kendall called. She thinks I should give your idea another shot.

Madison: What do you think?

Kendall: Whoa.

[Both laugh]

Kendall: Why do I all of a sudden feel like I'm in high school again?

Griffin: I would lend you my varsity jacket if I had one.

Kendall: Actually, I'll settle for just wearing your stethoscope sometime. Yeah.

Griffin: You know, Kendall, this is new for me. Investing in someone, staying in one place. In the past, when things got too serious, that was my sign to move on. And I never thought about it twice. That's why I jumped at the chance to go to South America.

Kendall: But you didn't go.

Griffin: I couldn't.

Kendall: Because of me.

Griffin: Yeah.

J.R.: No.

Amanda: Yes. I am a walking STD.

J.R.: Are you sure? Which one?

Amanda: HPV -- human --

J.R.: I know what it stands for. Unbelievable. What am I supposed to do now?

Amanda: You?!

J.R.: Yeah. I just got back together with Marissa. Now I'm supposed to tell her, "Hey, don't panic or anything, but you might want to get yourself checked out for an STD!" This is great, Amanda. It's just great.

Amanda: You selfish ass. HPV can cause cancer. Cancer! Thanks for giving a damn about me.

[Knocking on door]

Jake: Oh, hey. It's you.

Angie: I heard you up here. I tried calling, but you didn't answer the phone.

Jake: I was ignoring you. What do you think? Am I making too much noise for you? Is that the problem?

Angie: No. Listen, I just came up, because I wanted to get that crock pot that I let Amanda borrow.

Jake: Oh, right, yes. I think it's a crock you lent it to us, because I don't think we ever used it, actually.

Angie: Ha ha! I hardly ever use it, either, but Jesse's making a stab at pot roast tonight.

Jake: Oh, really? Watch out with his cooking.

Angie: Mm. Smells like you're making a stab at something, too.

Jake: No stab. I'm just -- I'm just reheating stuff. I don't think Amanda would appreciate getting food poisoning if I cooked, so I ordered in from Luigi's.

Angie: Chicken Marsala?

Jake: You're good. You want to sit down for a second?

Angie: And fresh flowers.

Jake: Now you're freaking me out. That's a gift.

Angie: Seems I hear of a special night planned.

Jake: Well, we are going to go for baby number two. Yeah.

J.R.: I'm sorry.

Amanda: You should be.

J.R.: Obviously, I don't want you to get cancer.

Amanda: Oh, thank you.

J.R.: But you didn't get this from me, remember? I got a clean bill of health.

Amanda: Whatever. Just tell who you need to tell, do what you need to do, but I let you know, so I'm done.

J.R.: Wait, wait, wait. What are you gonna tell Jake?

Amanda: I don't know yet.

J.R.: Ok, just relax. Let's think about this. If you didn't get the STD from me, and you didn't get it from Jake, you must've had it for a long time. Right?

Amanda: Probably.

J.R.: Which means you don't have to tell him anything. About us, I mean.

Amanda: Because then Marissa would find out.

J.R.: I don't want to screw things up with her.

Amanda: No. I will not let you make this about you.

J.R.: About me? This is my life, too. I have a right to protect it.

Amanda: Here's a tip. Next time you want to have gratuitous sex, think with a different organ, like, I don't know, your brain? Also, carry a condom and use it.

Madison: I listened to what you said, took a little bit of the edge off, but not too much. I don't want to sacrifice the intent of the concept.

Greenlee: Will you back up? I just want to get a look at the whole picture. You worked hard.

Madison: I did.

Greenlee: And you really believe in what you're selling.

Madison: I do.

Greenlee: Ok.

Madison: Ok, you like it?

Greenlee: I think it's worth spending some time on artwork and concept drawings, so go for it.

Madison: You won't regret this.

Greenlee: I better not.

David: It looks like someone's having a good day.

Madison: Took your advice. Got Kendall on my side to win Greenlee over. Totally worked. So thank you.

David: You're welcome. Does this mean you'll have that drink with me?

Madison: Why not? On second thought, maybe some other time. Looks like you already have company. Hi, Erica.

Jane: Hi.

Madison: Thank you again.

David: Anytime.

Jane: Well. What does she have to be grateful for?

Kendall: Ok, so this -- this whole thing, this is very new to me, too. I mean, I haven't done this in a very long time.

Griffin: I know, and you have your kids to think about.

Kendall: Yes.

Griffin: That's another reason I kept my distance. It's not gonna be easy for Spike and Ian to accept another person in their lives.

Kendall: Thank you for understanding. Not everyone has.

Griffin: Ok. All right. I officially draw the line at being compared to Reverend Ricky, the psychopath.

Kendall: Why? Why? You guys are so similar.

Griffin: You're so hilarious.

Kendall: You are. Not really. What is it?

Griffin: I don't know what to do. I don't know what to say next.

Kendall: That's cute. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I -- I don't come with a manual.

Griffin: No, you don't have Cliff Notes? No? Nothing? Can't throw me a bone?

Kendall: No. Sorry. What I can do, actually, is -- what if we just agreed to take things slowly?

Griffin: Yeah? Slower than we already have? Is that even humanly possible?

Kendall: I know. You have a point. How about slower, moving forward?

Griffin: Ok. I can do that.

Kendall: Yeah?

Griffin: Yeah. One step at a time.

Kendall: Right. Oh, and here's a little bone for you. You've already taken the first step. We're really doing this.

Griffin: We're really doing this.

Ryan: You got any word from Tad on Griffin? You're back!

Griffin: I'm back.

Ryan: It's good to see you, man.

Griffin: You, too.

Ryan: Thank you so much for the phone call. I really appreciated that.

Kendall: I'm sorry. Sorry. I -- I meant to. I just got a little -- got a little caught up. Caught up. Yeah.

Ryan: Well, all right. So you here to stay?

Griffin: That's the plan.

Ryan: What changed your mind?

Griffin: I don't know. I guess I was setting down roots when I wasn't looking. Too much to leave behind.

Ryan: That's great. I guess you haven't talked to him about Hayward.

Kendall: No. Not yet.

Griffin: What about him?

Ryan: You know he's back running the hospital with Erica, right? Well, we think something's up.

Griffin: With which part?

Ryan: With all of it. With how he got Erica to sign on, with his partnership to begin with, with what he's gonna do with the hospital once he gets control of it.

Griffin: Run it? As far as Erica's concerned, from her announcement it sounded like it was her idea.

Kendall: Another move probably orchestrated by David.

Griffin: No wonder Dr. H. is so paranoid. People really are out to get him.

David: Madison had asked my advice on something. It panned out, so she came by to thank me.

Jane: Of course, it panned out. You're a genius.

David: Let's hope we can say the same about you. How'd it go with Jackson?

Jane: He's definitely worried.

David: But you assuaged his fears.

Jane: All he wanted to do was talk about my behavior lately. He thinks I need help.

David: So what did you tell him?

Jane: I told him that I'm fine. That my work at the hospital is all the help I need.

David: And that worked?

Jane: I didn't give him a choice.

Greenlee: So she actually said that. That helping to heal others will help her heal herself.

Jack: Yes, she did.

Greenlee: Since when?

Jack: Well, it's a very noble notion, but I'm not buying it for a minute.

Greenlee: Yeah. That's not Erica.

Jack: Well, the Erica we know and love, or at least one of us, is essentially unrecognizable these days.

Greenlee: And she really doesn't see that?

Jack: If she does, she doesn't see it as any kind of a problem.

Greenlee: Well, I wish I could sit here and tell you that she just needs time --

Jack: But we both know you'd be lying. She just keeps moving, pulling further and further away from me. And lately it hit me that I may not be able to get her back.

Jake: Baby. Hi.

Amanda: Hey, Angie.

Angie: Hey, sweetie.

Amanda: Something smells good.

Angie: Your husband has been hard at work.

Jake: No, no, hardly, no. I'm just -- I'm repurposing the food that Luigi's hooked us up with. Ha ha ha! Oh, Angie's here to get the crock pot that we never used.

Amanda: Oh, I never gave that back to you. I'm sorry.

Angie: No, no, no. It's no problem. Listen, I'm gonna get out of here, because I know your husband has something special in store for you.

Jake: Why you gotta go blow my cover? I might've said something about maybe trying to make a baby. I don't know. Ha ha ha!

Angie: Listen, I really am happy for both of you.

Jake: Thanks.

Amanda: Well, no news to report yet.

Angie: I know, but it's a beautiful thing when everybody's on board. Excited about the future.

Jake: All right. Get outta here. You want me to walk you back to your pad?

Angie: I think I can make it. You guys can get started on your lovely night.

Jake: Be careful with that crock pot, all right? Give Jesse my love. Tell him good luck. You ok? You sure?

Angie: Bye.

Jake: All right.

Amanda: What have you done?

Jake: Oh, you know. Did a little of this, little of that. Those -- peonies. Remember I called them "peonies" once, and they're your favorite. And -- oh, apple cider that's not necessarily your favorite but pretty important if you're gonna try to make a baby. And there's chicken in the oven and there's key lime pie in the fridge. And -- [Turns on soft music] Got that going for us, because I got a feeling the string quartet's gonna be a little late. Kidding. There's not gonna be a string quartet. Unless, of course, you want a string quartet, then I'll get you one. You can tell me whatever you want. Just tell me. I'll make it happen. Babe? What is it?

Amanda: I love you so much.

Jake: And I love you.

Amanda: I can't believe that you did all this. Because this is so much more than I deserve.

Jake: What are you talking about? You deserve all this. You deserve it all. You deserve the world. I'd give you the world if I could.

Ryan: You heard how he found Greenlee after her accident, right, and kept her for, like, over a year. David has got a way of controlling people with drugs, sometimes with his in-your-face personality.

Kendall: I know this must sound like the complete opposite of the man that you looked up to as your mentor, but I'm telling you, Griff, what Ryan's saying is true.

Griffin: You know, when I first heard the stories about Dr. H., I couldn't get over it. I know that he is no angel, but to pull this kind of crap is --

Kendall: Well, now?

Griffin: Now that I've seen the guy in action, there's obviously a lot that I don't know about him.

Ryan: So you will help us.

Griffin: I'm not sure what you think I can do.

Ryan: We're not asking you to do much. Just kind of hang out. Stay close. Keep your eyes and ears open. Maybe we can figure out what the hell's going on here.

Kendall: We just want to help my mother. We want to keep her safe.

Griffin: So do I. If David is trying to hurt your mother in any way, you can count on me to put a stop to it.

Jane: Jackson is handled. It's ok now.

David: Ok for what?

Jane: For us to spend more time together. We just have to be careful, that's all. Just make sure that when we meet, that everyone thinks that it's strictly business. And it will be. Naughty business, that is.

David: So much for being careful, huh?

Jane: I thought that you were a man who liked to live dangerously.

David: Oh, I am.

Jane: Even when it comes to women?

David: Especially when it comes to women.

Jane: Well, then, come on. Let's go live dangerously. Take me back to your room right now.

Greenlee: Well, I hate that you're hurting, but in Erica's defense, it's really not --

Jack: I'm sorry. What did you say?

Greenlee: In Erica's defense, it's not her fault. Yes. If anyone knows how David can make you do things you never thought you'd do and turn your back on people you never thought --

Jack: Oh, good. I have that to look forward to.

Greenlee: No. No. The day that Erica comes to her senses and launches that miniature frame into your arms, that's what you have to look forward to.

Jack: Who is calling who miniature?

Greenlee: Hey, I'm bigger than her.

Jack: In many ways, he says. What if that day never comes?

Greenlee: It will. It will, just like it did with me.

Jack: You know, it seems to me like you actually want this -- Erica and me together.

Greenlee: I want what you want.

Jack: I want my fiancée back.

Greenlee: Then fight for her, Dad. Don't give up.

Jack: Greenlee, fighting is all we seem to do about this. I'm running out of steam here.

Greenlee: Well, then, I'll buy you some energy drinks. I gotta go.

Jack: Come here before you go. I love you so much. I don't think you have any idea how much.

Greenlee: It took me a while, but yeah. I actually do.

Jack: Good. Get out of here.

Cara: What's up?

J.R.: Hi. I need to get some tests run.

Cara: Ok. Got that from the nurse. What are you looking for?

J.R.: Well, there was this -- there was this bachelor party and there was -- there were some girls there. I was kind of hoping for a man doctor.

Cara: You got me. So go ahead.

J.R.: Ok, well, anyway, one of the guys called me and said that one of the girls might've had -- something.

Cara: Ok. Do you have any idea what it was?

J.R.: I think it might've been HPV.

Cara: Oh.

J.R.: "Oh." What does that mean? "Oh"? What am I supposed to do?

Cara: Well, hmm. If you think that you might be infected, then you should probably be smart about it. Practice safe sex. Possibly tell your recent partners. It's entirely up to you.

Jake: It's too much, all this.

Amanda: No, it's --

Jake: No, no, it's too much. It's screaming in your face, "Let's make a baby." That's not the way to do it, and I know in your heart you're still disappointed, so --

Amanda: Please stop --

Jake: No, no. Forget all this. You know what? Let's just take it easy. Relax. Here, look. Start with a little massage, ok? Let's start with your feet, toes, and I'll work my way up to your temples and everything in between. How's that sound?

Amanda: Please stop. Sorry, I can't. I'm sorry, I just can't. [Crying]

Ryan: Thank you for signing on.

Griffin: Whatever I can do.

Ryan: And I think I speak for all of us when I say welcome back.

Kendall: Wow. Really? Ok. You want to get a bullhorn? Are you done?

Ryan: I was trying to be friendly.

Kendall: Can you believe? Get out of here.

Ryan: I'm leaving.

Kendall: Ok. Take care now. Nice seeing you again. Really.

Ryan: Yeah.

Kendall: Ok. Bye. Sorry about that.

Griffin: Why?

Kendall: Well, I mean, he was acting like we were going off to the prom or something.

Griffin: I see. You're still in high school mode.

Kendall: A little bit. Yeah. It'll wear off. I promise.

Griffin: Ok, well, how about we hold off on the prom and go to dinner tomorrow night?

Kendall: I'd love to. But be warned -- I do not kiss on the first date.

Griffin: Oh, yeah?

Kendall: Mm-hmm.

Griffin: If that's the case, we'd better get that out of the way right now.

Kendall: Really?

Griffin: Yeah.

Griffin: Good night, Kendall.

Kendall: Good night, Griff.

[In Griffin's jacket there is a "Project Orpheus" access card]

Jane: I miss you. I miss being near you. Nothing else even seems important anymore.

David: And I miss you, too. Desperately. But we have to be patient. We act impulsively and everything could be done. Game over.

Jane: So what's our next move?

David: Why don't you meet me in my hotel room tomorrow afternoon? All right? We'll take it from there.
