Ryan: Greenlee, have you seen my shirt anywhere, by any chance?

Greenlee: Looking for this?

Ryan: You're not gonna make this easy for me, are you?

Greenlee: What do you think? I'm gonna go get dressed.

Ryan: Thanks.

Greenlee: Ahem. It feels like we haven't done this in forever: Gotten dressed up, had a nice meal. I guess we really haven't had anything to celebrate. I don't mean to be insensitive. I know you're still having a hard time after the baby. I just thought --

Ryan: I'm fine, and you're right. We really haven't done this in a long time. I'm glad we did.

Kendall: Yeah. So am I. I just kind of wish I knew what the occasion was. You couldn't tell me on the phone?

Greenlee: To give you an excuse not to show up?

Kendall: I'm here. I'm here. I'm ready to party and kick my heels up and raise my glass! Who are we raising our glass to? Oh. I guess this is why you ditched me.

[Krystal and J.R. laugh]

Marissa: Wow. That is what I call progress.

Bianca: What, J.R. and Krystal?

Marissa: Yeah. God, even just a couple of months ago, he would never have been able to make my mother laugh -- me either. I don't know, though. He just gets to me, so I'm thinking of giving him another chance.

Jack: What the hell are you doing?

Jane: Oh, Jack, you saved me. You really are my knight in shining armor.

Jack: What is this?

Jane: You caught me in a moment of weakness, that's all.

Jack: And what if I hadn't been here?

Jane: But you are, and you always are here for me, and that's why I love you so much. Come on. Let's just go back to our table, ok?

Jack: You were about to take a drink.

Jane: No. I just picked it up without thinking, that's all. I've had so much on my mind lately, and I keep doing things like that. The other day I just almost brushed my teeth with my eye cream.

Jack: Maybe you should go to a meeting.

Jane: A meeting? You mean AA? Of course not. No, that's not necessary.

Jack: It is if you're having weak moments, Erica. You know this.

Jane: You know something? Maybe none of this would've happened if you hadn't pressured me earlier.

Jack: So this is my fault?

Jane: Oh, I'm just saying we were having this perfectly wonderful day, and then you just kept trying to pressure me into talking about my daughters and all the trauma we have been through, and I didn't want to do that. And so I may have had a weak moment, and if I did, it has passed now, and I'm fine. Ohh. Cortlandt Electronics -- Caleb asked me to finish a project. He's been so busy with Asher, and he asked me to take care of it.

Jack: You never mentioned that.

Jane: No, because it completely slipped my mind.

Erica: You can come in. I won't bite. You must get lonely, too. Jane leaves you alone for days at a time sometimes. I'm sure that's very hard for you to be all by yourself.

Ben: You should eat before it gets cold.

Erica: Guarding someone else's prisoner can't possibly be what you wanted to do with your life. How did you get into this, Ben?

Krystal: Ok, wait a minute. No, no. Just so we're clear here -- I mean, you can make me laugh, but that does not mean that you got me in your corner.

J.R.: Come on. That was some of my best stuff.

Krystal: I mean it. I'm gonna be watching you, and if you hurt my little girl --

J.R.: I won't. I belong with Marissa, and I'm gonna prove it to you and anyone else who doubts me.

Bianca: You really must believe he's changed.

Marissa: In some ways, he has. In other ways, no, he hasn't changed at all. But I'm not as naive as I used to be, and he knows he can't pull the same stuff that he used to pull. So if we can build a relationship that's based on honesty and trust and provide a stable home for A.J., a real family, that's all I've ever wanted. Say something.

Bianca: If you giving it another try with J.R. is what you want, then I'm happy for you.

Marissa: More than anyone in the world, I knew you would understand.

Griffin: I didn't ditch you.

Kendall: That was Greenlee who called right before you blew me off.

Griffin: I didn't know you were going to be here.

Greenlee: Come on, kids. We're here to celebrate. The charges against Griffin were dropped.

Griffin: Yeah, I still have to do community service.

Kendall: Yeah, hopefully he'll be at the hospital. You can work with Leona.

Griffin: Leona and I get along great.

Kendall: Yeah? Wait until you start working with her. You'll have to deal with her toilet brush.

Greenlee: Who wants champagne? I know I do. Why don't you go grab a bottle.

Ryan: Yes.

Greenlee: We'll toast to Griffin's freedom.

Ryan: Ok. Great. How about you guys sit down? You, over here, please. Ok? Go ahead. Grab a seat. You can tell me how you got Liza to cave, ok?

Greenlee: I'm sorry.

Kendall: No problem. I love being ambushed. Love it.

Scott: Don't you even want to know why I'm here?

Madison: I told you I don't want to talk to you. Was I not clear enough?

Scott: No, you were very clear. You were also very upset. Madison, how long are you gonna be mad at me?

Madison: I don't want to talk about this.

Scott: You're going through a tough time, right? You want me to stay away, you want your space, but you know what? I'm not gonna do that. I'm not, because I know that you are in pain, and I can't just sit back and watch that. Ok? I'm gonna do everything I can to try to fix this, but you -- you won't even look at me. You won't even try to remember what we had.

Madison: "What we had?" What we had meant nothing.

Scott: What we had meant everything to me.

Madison: You feel better telling yourself that? Less guilty?

Scott: I hate what happened, Madison. I hate seeing you in this much pain.

Madison: Then stop reminding me of it. Get out!

Scott: I'm trying to remind you how good it was between us.

Madison: What part? The lies? Your secret deal with Greenlee?

Scott: Obviously that part was a mistake.

Madison: You traded my dignity for a "get out of jail early" card. That wasn't a mistake. You knew exactly what you were doing.

Scott: Yes. Ok. In the beginning, there was a deal. Madison, I came to genuinely care about you.

Madison: So much that you never once told me why you really came into my life.

Scott: Because I was scared, Madison. I was scared that I was gonna lose you. I mean, come on. I love you.

Madison: Don't say that. Do not say that.

Scott: What am I supposed to say? Please, just tell me, what am I supposed to say to you, because I want to make this right. I want to show you how truly sorry I am.

Madison: You had a million chances to come clean. We moved in together, and you said nothing. We made love. Nothing. I invited you to be in the room when my baby was born. Still nothing. Ryan came to our place after Greenlee finally told him everything, and you just let me defend you, let me go on and on and on about your loyalty.

Scott: Yes, I could've said something, but what would that have accomplished? Like I said, I was scared that I was gonna lose you.

Madison: That doesn't do anything for the hole in my heart, or the pit in my stomach. So take your pathetic apologies and just go. Go! Get out!

Scott: Madison, please.

Madison: Get out! Get out, Scott! Get out! Go! Get out! Get out! Get out! Get out! Get out! Agh! Agh! Ah!

Scott: Can I talk to you for a minute? It's important.

Ryan: Yeah. Um, excuse me.

Scott: It's about Madison. I've never seen her this upset -- in fact, I didn't want to leave her alone.

Ryan: Where is she?

Scott: She's upstairs at Fusion.

Ryan: I'm on it. Hey, um, sorry, guys. Madison is having a really tough time, so I got to go check that out.

Kendall: Everything all right?

Ryan: That's what I'm gonna go find out. I should probably do this alone, ok?

Greenlee: Let me know if I can help.

Ryan: Ok.

[Phone rings]

Kendall: It's Jackson.

Griffin: Go ahead.

Kendall: Ok, thanks. I'll just be a minute.

Griffin: Ok.

Kendall: Hello?

Jack: Kendall, I need some help with your mother.

Kendall: Uh, what kind of help? What happened?

Jack: I caught her about to have a drink.

Kendall: What?

Jack: She didn't go through with it, but she was about to.

Kendall: What did she say?

Jack: Nothing that made any sense. But I got to tell you, nothing she says or does lately makes any sense. I was scared then, but now, I got to tell you, I am scared to death.

Kendall: Ok, now you're freaking me out.

Jack: Look, just -- we need to get ahold of Bianca, and we need to confront your mother. Now.

Kendall: Ok. I'll be right there. Can you hand me my purse?

Greenlee: Wait. You're leaving, too? So much for celebrating.

Kendall: I'll explain later.

Greenlee: Well, I guess it's just you and me.

Griffin: Looks that way.

Greenlee: I don't know whether to hug you or hit you.

Griffin: I get that a lot.

Man: Erica Kane?

Jane: Yes? Yes, that's me. Would you like an autograph?

Man: How about a picture? I'm here with a reporter. We're doing a story on summer cocktails. But you are way more interesting than any drink.

Jane: Well, thank you. Yes, I'd be delighted to give you a picture.

[Camera shutter clicks]

Jane: Oh. You know what? If you stick around, I might just be able to give you a really big scoop.

Ryan: Madison? Madison, you here? Are you ok?

Madison: I'm trying. I'm trying so hard. I keep pushing it away, and it just keeps coming back. She keeps coming back. No matter what I do, our little girl is still coming back! She's still with me!

Bianca: Sure. Of course, Uncle Jack. I'll be right there. I have to go -- something going on with my mom.

Marissa: Anything wrong?

Bianca: I don't know. He said he would tell me when I got there.

Marissa: Ok. I'll look after Miranda. Just call me when you're done.

Bianca: Thanks so much.

Marissa: Did you have something that you wanted to give me?

Bianca: Yeah. I thought I had it, but I must've just left it at home.

Marissa: Oh. Ok. Hey, take your time with Jackson. I'll just see you later.

Bianca: Hey, wait, J.R. There's something I want you to have.

Jane: Greenlee. May I speak with you?

Griffin: Hi, Erica.

Greenlee: Why?

Jane: Oh, it'll just take a minute.

Griffin: Go ahead. It's good to see you.

Jane: Good to see you. Thank you. Oh. So, Greenlee, have you thought any more about selling the hospital?

Greenlee: Why? You know someone who wants to buy it?

Jane: Yes. Me.

Greenlee: You want to run a hospital?

Jane: I want to acquire it.

Greenlee: Ok, it's not like a cosmetics company or anything. There's no glitz or glam.

Jane: Oh. I would not be running the day-to-day. We would find someone else to do that. But I would like to make the purchase, and it would become part of Cortlandt Electronics, a subsidy.

Greenlee: You mean a subsidiary?

Jane: Yes. Greenlee, this is an amazing opportunity, one that you do not want to pass up.

Greenlee: What's in it for you?

Jane: I get to show my gratitude to all the wonderful doctors of Pine Valley Hospital who have saved so many of the people I love. And you know if you sold the hospital to Erica Kane, she would make it the most first-rate medical facility in the country, bar none.

Greenlee: You're serious about this.

Jane: Yes.

Greenlee: All right. I've already had the hospital lawyers drawing something up. Talk to them.

Photographer: One more shot, Ms. Kane?

Jane: Yes. Why not?

[Camera shutter clicks]

Photographer: Thank you much.

Jane: Thank you. Ok.

Greenlee: What was that?

Jane: Oh, I just wanted to shake on it.

[Phone rings]

Jane: Oh. Excuse me. Jack? Jack, you've caught me right in the middle of a meeting.

Jack: I'm at Kendall's. I need you here right away.

Jane: I'm working.

Jack: I spoke to Caleb. There is no project that you have to finish. No matter where you are, Erica, I need you to get over to Kendall's, and I mean right now. Don't make me come and track you down, because I will.

J.R.: A music box?

Bianca: Yeah. The song it plays, Marissa's father used to sing it to her when she was a little girl.

J.R.: Really?

Bianca: Yeah. She still hums it when she's scared, and it makes her feel calm.

J.R.: Wow. How did you find it?

Bianca: Just give it to Marissa, so she always feels safe.

J.R.: Why don't you want to give it to her?

Bianca: I think it'll be better coming from you.

J.R.: So you're on board? You'll help me win back Marissa?

Bianca: Just give her the gift. It'll make her happy.

Greenlee: He isn't back yet.

Griffin: He's probably dealing with something important.

Greenlee: What is it with men like you?

Griffin: Brilliant and handsome?

Greenlee: You always have to play hero. Is it possible, just once, you see a damsel in distress, and you just keep on walking?

Griffin: Oh, some questions are better left unanswered.

Greenlee: That is such a cop-out.

Griffin: "Do these jeans make me look fat?" "Which one of my friends is the hottest?" Do not answer.

Greenlee: I didn't ask you about my jeans or my friends.

Griffin: Look, whatever's going on with you and Ryan, I am not getting involved.

Greenlee: Who said anything about Ryan? I'm just trying to look into the male psyche, get some insight.

Griffin: Nice try.

Greenlee: You see a woman in trouble, and you just have to save her. It's programmed into your DNA -- same as Ryan's.

Griffin: Uh-huh. Busted.

Greenlee: All right, then just throw me a crumb here.

Griffin: Look, I don't know either of you very well. But from what I've seen and from what I've heard from Kendall, Ryan is committed to you. And you are definitely more than capable of taking care of yourself -- same as Kendall.

Greenlee: We're definitely not damsels.

Griffin: To you and Kendall.

Erica: So your life didn't turn out the way you planned it, did it?

Ben: I just came to get your tray.

Erica: No, I think you want to talk to me as much as I want to talk to you. So is Jane blackmailing you? Is that how she's keeping you here?

Ben: You're asking too many questions.

Erica: Ben, I'm just trying to figure it out. I'm just trying to figure out why Jane thinks she can control people like this. She's holding me prisoner while she takes my life, and I think she's doing the same to you, Ben. The only difference is that you are not locked up. You're free. You can just walk away any time you want to.

Ben: No, I'm not!

Erica: Why?

Ben: Because I'm the reason she did all of this.

Kendall: Hi, Mom. Come on in.

Jane: What is this all about?

Jack: I'll let your daughters explain. I love you.

Jane: Ok. It's obvious that Jackson told you that I lied to him about having to be at Cortlandt. And I didn't want to, but I --

Kendall: Have you been drinking again?

Jane: Oh, I can't believe that he even told you about that. That was nothing.

Kendall: It's not "nothing" for an alcoholic.

Bianca: You worked so hard to be sober, Mom.

Jane: And I am sober. I didn't drink.

Kendall: But you were going to.

Jane: No, no, no. Look, you are making this something much bigger than it really is.

Bianca: Is that how you felt about my anorexia?

Kendall: Or what happened with Zach when I lost him? I thought I had everything under control, but I didn't -- nowhere close. I was in denial.

Jane: I'm not in denial. I'm fine. I'm more than fine. In fact, I've never been better.

Kendall: Ok. Then why have you been avoiding us?

Jane: What?

Bianca: The other day I invited you to breakfast with me and the girls, you said you had a hair appointment.

Kendall: Yeah. And then I tried calling you, like, five times yesterday. I left you messages, and you never called me back, not even once.

Jane: All right. Look, I've been avoiding you for your own good.

J.R.: Smile for the camera. Heh heh heh. That's great. Ohh. When I was their age, I used to love trains. Who you calling?

Marissa: Oh, I was -- I don't know. It can wait.

J.R.: Was it Scott?

Marissa: Why? Would it be a problem if it was?

J.R.: No. Of course not. I got you something. I hope you like it.

Marissa: Why did you do this?

J.R.: Open it up.

Marissa: Ok. Hold onto that.

["Forevermore" plays as Marissa hugs J.R.]

Madison: Why did you come here?

Ryan: Because Scott was worried about you.

Madison: I -- I let him have it. I keep asking him to stay away, but he won't.

Ryan: It's because he cares about you.

Madison: He thinks that we can start over. I just -- I can't.

Ryan: You want me to take you back to Frankie and Randi's?

Madison: No. If I go there, I'm just gonna sit around and think about Sara. I need to get back to work. I need to keep my mind on other things.

Ryan: I can hang out if you want.

Madison: No. It's ok.

Ryan: I -- I don't mind.

Madison: I know. I appreciate that. I'll be ok.

Ryan: Ok. So if there's nothing else that I can do --

Madison: Actually, there is. Help me clean up the place?

Singer: All these questions in my head all these words --

Greenlee: Madison has a meltdown, and you enlist Ryan?

Scott: Are you still trying to keep them apart? Guess what -- this time it's not gonna happen.

Greenlee: I'm not trying to keep Madison and Ryan apart. But I don't think throwing them together is going to help anybody.

Scott: Do you know how much it kills me to see the pain that Madison's in? All I want to do is to help her, make everything easier, make it all go away, but I can't. There's only one person that can do that: Ryan.

Greenlee: That's not true. She has Frankie. She has Randi.

Scott: Ok. No. You know what you have to do? You have to stop pretending that you can control this.

Greenlee: Listen, I feel horrible for what Madison is going through. But I don't think Ryan is the solution to her pain.

Scott: They lost a child.

Greenlee: Exactly. They both lost a child. Madison is not the only one suffering here. Ryan finally has a chance to be happy, to have the life that he always wanted. Yes, that includes me, but I'm not gonna apologize for wanting that for both of us.

Scott: Ok. You know what time it is? Time to face reality. Ok? Because everything that you did to keep Ryan away from Madison -- it only brought them closer.

Jane: The reason that I have been avoiding you is fear.

Bianca: What are you afraid of?

Jane: The people who kidnapped me. They're still out there, and for all I know, they could come after me again. And when I think about that -- and that gives me a lot of anxiety. I didn't want to just dump that on you.

Bianca: You wouldn't be dumping it on us. We want to help you, Mom.

Kendall: Listen to me. We're gonna get these people that kidnapped you, ok? We're gonna catch them, and they're gonna pay.

Jane: I would really like to just forget about the whole thing. Come on. No more of this serious conversation, ok? Come on. Let's go shopping.

Bianca: Mom, stop.

Kendall: Please, Mom. Please, just let us be here for you. Ok? It's gonna be ok. Binks, just get in on this. Come on.

Jane: Girls, come on, please.

Kendall: No, Mom, we are not letting you go. You are stuck with us no matter what.

Jane: Oh, my phone.

Bianca: I didn't hear anything.

Jane: It's on vibrate. Oh! Wonderful.

Kendall: What is it?

Jane: It's a message about a surprise that I am planning for the family.

Bianca: What kind of surprise?

Jane: I certainly can't tell you about it. Then it wouldn't be a surprise.

Kendall: Wait, Mom. Where are you going?

Jane: Not to a bar, if that's what you're worried about. Really, just forget about that. So, kisses!

["Forevermore" plays]

Marissa: How did you find the song that my father sang to me?

J.R.: It wasn't easy.

Marissa: I can't believe you even remembered. I didn't think you were listening when I told you.

J.R.: Marissa, I always hear every word you say.

Greenlee: How's Madison?

Ryan: She's not great, actually. I wanted to stay up there with her, but she insisted that I don't.

Greenlee: What did she want?

Ryan: She wanted to stay up there and work. You're not happy that I went, are you?

Greenlee: I didn't say that.

Ryan: It's ok, Greenlee. This isn't easy. None of this is easy. Madison and I lost a child together, and we've got to go through it together.

Kendall: Griff, hi. What are you doing here?

Griffin: When you left, you seemed kind of stressed, so I wanted to make sure you were ok.

Kendall: Thank you. I'm ok, I think. I was just dealing with my mom.

Griffin: Is she all right?

Kendall: Yeah, yeah. I think so. Bianca and I -- we're on it.

Griffin: Ok. I'll let you get back to whatever it is you were doing.

Kendall: So what's in the bag?

Griffin: Your lunch.

Kendall: Oh. Lunch?

Griffin: You left without saying anything or ordering anything, so I thought you might be hungry.

Kendall: Mmm! My goodness. Yummy. This smells delicious. I cannot wait to get into this.

Griffin: Ooh. You got some on your dress.

Kendall: Oh, great. Where?

Griffin: Right there.

Kendall: Oh. Heh heh.

Griffin: What's wrong?

Kendall: This dress. The last time I wore it was with Zach.

Erica: Ben? You can't be the reason Jane's doing all this. You're a decent, compassionate person. I think Jane's manipulating you, Ben. I think she's trying to get you to take the blame for all of her crimes. Look, Ben, I'm just trying to understand this, just trying to understand you, so I can't help you.

Ben: You can't help me.

Erica: Yes, I can. And I will, Ben, if you'll just talk to me. And we can work together, get back to our lives, just not allow this woman to hold us prisoner anymore against our will.

Ben: I'm responsible. What she lost? I'll never forget that terrible day.

Jane: Don't say another word.

Singer: How come we love and hate? How come we give and take? How come you wanted space? You felt so close to me

J.R.: Hey, you two, the conductor's on a break. But as soon as he's back, just one more time around, ok, then we got to go.

Marissa: J.R., this is the most thoughtful gift anyone's ever gotten me.

J.R.: You ain't seen nothing yet.

Marissa: Hey. Huh.

Griffin: Sorry if the food I got you was messy.

Kendall: It's ok. This stain will come out. It's fine. Um, no. Just this dress -- the day that I wore it with Zach, we were all together as a family. We were walking. And the boys were rolling down the hill, and we were all laughing and happy. And every time I looked at this dress in the closet, I haven't been able to put it on. It brought back too many painful memories. But today I put it on without thinking. Is that progress?

Griffin: Yeah. I think it is.

Opal: Hey there.

Jack: Hey, Opal. Hi. Thanks for coming. Sit down.

Opal: Yeah. I got your message. What gives?

Jack: It's Erica. Her behavior is becoming more and more alarming.

Opal: We've known she's been off her game ever since she came back from that horrible ordeal. Maybe we ought to just --

Jack: Opal, I caught her about to have a drink, and I do mean alcohol.

Opal: Oh, you're kidding.

Jack: No. When I confronted her, she said she accidentally picked up that glass, and she had no intention of having that drink.

Opal: Oh, my Lord. That means she is in a lot more trouble than we even thought.

Jack: Except she wants everyone to think she's just fine. But the truth is she's anything but.

Erica: What happened to you, Jane? What happened to you on that terrible day? Ok, Jane. You have a secret. I'm gonna find out what that is.
