From the Akron Beacon Journal 4/18/07:

Carey Quizzing? Cleveland's own Drew Carey has signed to host the game-show pilot Power of 10 for CBS, says The site says the show ``has contestants trying to guess the results of nationwide surveys of five questions, with each answer increasing in value by multiples of 10 -- starting with $1,000 and ending up at $10 million.''

Carey has done the game thing before, in the anarchic environs of Whose Line Is It Anyway? as well as on the special Play for a Billion. If you prefer him in sitcom form, the complete first season of his Drew Carey Show will be on DVD on Tuesday.

See many articles about the show and its cast!

It appears that the show has been canceled; I never heard or saw an official announcement, but the cast has been moving on to other things.  I guess ABC knew that if they made an announcement, we would fight for the show, so they just let it slowly, quietly die away.  What a shame!

Deidrich Bader (Oswald) is set to star in a 2004 fall series called "Center of the Universe", starring John Goodman.

In March 21, 2004 Drew Carey appeared in Fountains Of Wayne's Music Video Mexican Wine as an announcer. (TV Tome)

Craig Ferguson (Nigel) has a new sitcom at ABC called "Hot Mom".

March 15, 2004
Christa Miller Lawrence (Kate) has been cast as the female lead in an untitled CBS comedy project starring Andrew Kennedy.

Cynthia Watros (Kellie) is in a new series called "Saint Louie" on CBS.

Catch reruns of The Drew Carey Show in syndication (check your local listings) and reruns of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" on ABC Family Channel.

Drew Carey is not on the fall schedule this season but might return as a mid-season replacement (they are still planning to tape new episodes).  Please watch for it! I believe that the show is still good, but the network moved it around so much and pre-empted it so often that people forgot about it.  It was on a lot this summer with lots of new episodes but who watches TV in the summer...anyway, at least it has not been canceled.

Drew got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

The show has moved to Mondays! It's followed by Drew's other show, "Whose Line Is It Anyway?".  Now it's on Fridays...wish ABC would stop moving it :(

Kate (Christa Miller) has left the show! :(  She will only be seen for a few episodes this season.

Joining the cast is Cynthia Watros ("Titus" and "Guiding Light").

Rumor has it that this is the final season of the show.

Drew will star on the 11/4 episode of "Nikki" on The WB, which is also run by Drew Carey Show producer Bruce Helford.  According to Entertainment Weekly, "Carey will play a Vince McMahon-like character who buys Dwight's professional wrestling league.  'He plays a bad guy for the first time,' says Helford, who adds that Nikki will also benefit from several new writers this season.  'Drew's way more versatile than what we usually see.  He's really different this time--except he still has his glasses on'."

According to TV Guide,  "Drew's love life heats up this season, but in a very complicated way".  Drew and Mimi will be "more playful" and less "mean-spirited".

This July, Suzanne went with some friends to visit Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles.  If you get a chance to go to LA, check it out!  It's a great tour with a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff.  The highlight was seeing the sets for The Drew Carey Show and for Friends!  They were dark and there was no one around (and they wouldn't let us take pictures! :(  but it was cool to see it anyway.  Suzanne also bought a Drew Carey T-shirt that she proudly wears.

11/8/00:  ABC has renewed its improv series Whose Line Is It Anyway? through the 2003-2004 season, Variety reports... The Drew Carey Show airs its second live episode tonight on ABC...

I haven't had much time this year to update the page or even watch the show that often.  Drew is going strong!!!  And he must be really busy with TWO hit shows and having "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?" as the lead-in.  Despite tough competition from "West Wing" and other shows, the show is still doing really well.

"Millionaire's lead-in helped The Drew Carey Show attract its largest audience for an ABC season premiere (13.61 million) in four years.  It was also the network's largest Wednesday premiere audience (13.48 million) in four years." --Mr. Showbiz

Thanks very much to everyone who's contributed to this page by sending me information! Thanks to Mike Moore for the Halloween picture!

Drew starred last year in "Geppetto" on ABC.

The Howard Stern Show on 6/5/99  featured 15-plus segments, including appearances by Drew Carey .

Drew in court! 1/99

The last season finale had Drew, the cast, and guest-star Hal Linden not only dancing as usual, but singing "Brotherhood of Man" from the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".  They did a great job!!! How will they top it this season?

Drew's 1st season theme was "Moon Over Parma" sung by Drew (my favorite theme!) Last season's theme song was "5 O'Clock World" by The Vogues. Ask for their CD Greatest Hits collection in your local record store. This season's theme is "Cleveland Rocks" on by The Presidents of the United States of America (Ian Hunter sang the original version but PUSA covered it for the show). The new PUSA CD "Pure Frosting" has the theme! So does the new Drew Carey CD.
You can get .wav files of them at the D.R.E.W. page linked below.  Here's another place to find the latest theme at Nita's Corvette Page.

Drew sued by A&W!

Drew's summer game show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"  Also starring Ryan Stiles (Lewis) was a big hit so they're bringing it back in the Fall.  An hour of Drew!

Carey on Fire for Smokers
WEST HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - Drew Carey was an unlikely leader of a smoke-in yesterday at Barney's Beanery, a popular West Hollywood hangout. The sitcom star and others lighted up to protest of a state law that bans smoking in restaurants and bars. But Carey says he isn't even a smoker and was taking part only because he believes the law is "insane." The demonstration could be the beginning of a new activist career for Carey. "I've never done anything like this in my life," he said. "But protesting is fun and I may do it again -- if I don't get arrested." The protest resulted in a $100 fine for Barney's.

Carey Likely to Host `Line'

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - ABC is finalizing negotiations with Drew Carey to host and executive produce a summer version of the British improv comedy game show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Carey's sitcom co-star Ryan Stiles will be a regular player on the series. Celebrities compete in four improv games, and the host adds and subtracts points for any reason he wants.

Fan Staci went as Mimi a few years ago onHalloween!

The Drew Carey Show kicked the butts of both 3rd Rock From the Sun and Star Trek: Voyager! Both changed their time slots. Go, Drew! (Even though I like those other shows, too)

E! Online's Review From Last Fall: Not Such a Beautiful Day in Drew's Neighborhood It's going to be a busy fall for Drew. First, he gets a new housemate: Coworker Larry (Ian Gomez) moves in after getting fired. Then, he gets new neighbors: a buppie couple (yet to be cast) who aren't thrilled about living in Drew's blue-collar 'hood. They're even less enthusiastic when they meet the guy next door--just as he gets cuffed in front of his house. Like, arrested? You got it. Unbeknownst to Drew, Larry's holding a friend's marijuana stash, and Drew pays the price. Not only is he arrested, but he's in danger of losing his house.
