The Tribe: Series 1, Part 1 DVD cover

The Tribe: Series 1, Part 1

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 3/8/12

This is a really interesting show. I'm surprised I've barely heard of it before. It grabbed me right away and made me want to keep watching.

This is a teen drama, but it's a great show that anyone should enjoy. It's a futuristic show where all adults have been killed by a virus, and the children have to fend for themselves in a cruel world.

Some of the acting is amateurish, but it works anyway, somehow. I look forward to seeing more of the show.

It's not a terribly realistic show, although probably more so than most teen shows. They face problems of starvation, thirst, sickness, pregnancy, and battles over turf, but they still act like kids and want to play video games and eat candy. They don't really seem to be as affected by their parents' deaths as they should be. Also, where are all the dead adults? They don't explain a lot about what happened before, and there are huge logic gaps. They just let little kids run around all the over the place and no one falls and skins their knees, even.

It's not a show you want to think about very deeply but just sit back and enjoy the fun of it.
