"Necessary
Roughness"
review by Suzanne
Wednesdays at 10/9 central on USA Network
This is such a fun show, and I always enjoy
watching it. It has so many great elements. It's an
interesting drama, kind of like a soap opera. Dani (Callie
Thorne) tries to raise two kids while she deals with spoiled
athletes and dating for the first time. She is with the sexy
team trailer Matt (Marc Blucas), and sometimes they have
squabbles, but their relationship is solid and loving. There
is also equally-sexy Nico (Scott Cohen) and player TK (Mehcad
Brooks), more men in her life. She is a psychiatrist,
so there are lots of interesting psychological issues.
Also, it's a comedy with lots of humor. Then you have lots
of football stuff going on.
It really is the perfect show because it has
something for everyone. I hope it is doing well and keeps
coming back so we can continue to enjoy it. It just started
it's new second season, so don't miss it!
Characters Welcome.

USA
Network’s critically acclaimed hit series NECESSARY ROUGHNESS returns for
its second season with 11 new episodes on Wednesday, June 6 10/9c after the
season four premiere of the hit show ROYAL PAINS.
Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne returns in her acclaimed role as Dr. Dani
Santino, a Long Island psychotherapist and single mother who’s plucked out
of relative obscurity to become the sports-psychologist for the New York
Hawks. This season NECESSARY ROUGHNESS will tackle football off the field as
well as on. We’ll join the fictional New York Hawks at the start of a new
season… the OFF season… and get a peek at the “backstage” drama that comes
with training camp, the draft and the scouting combine.
The series stars Callie Thorne (“Rescue Me,” “Californication”), Marc Blucas
(“Knight and Day,” “Buffy, The Vampire Slayer”), Mehcad Brooks (“True
Blood,” “Desperate Housewives”), Scott Cohen (“Law & Order: Trial By Jury,”
“Gilmore Girls”), Hannah Marks (“weeds”) and Patrick Johnson (“Mean Girls
2”. This season we will also meet the mysterious owner of the Hawks Marshall
Pittman played by guest star Evan Handler. Other guest stars this season
will include Rob Estes, Gaius Charles, Paul Blackthorne, and NBC Sports’
Peter King. Amanda Detmer, Concetta Tomei and pro football star Terrell
Owens will all return to reprise their roles from the first season.
Created and executive produced by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro ("Miami
Medical," "The Challenge"). Jeffrey Lieber (“Lost,” “Miami Medical”) and
Kevin Dowling ("Sons of Tucson") also serve as executive producers. Inspired
by a true story, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS is a Sony Pictures Television and
Universal Cable Productions co-production. NECESSARY ROUGHNESS shoots in
Atlanta, GA.

UPDATE: I'll try to avoid spoilers here. I got to see the last two
episodes of the season, "Double Fault" and "All the Kings' Horses"- they are
great!! Best episodes of the season.
Dani finds a new romance. Her girlfriend has trouble dealing with being fat
(pregnant) but ends up having a happy ending before the finale. TK gets into
a whole lot more trouble in these two episodes, but things turn out
basically at the end. He gets a good friend and things turns a bit poignant
for them. Most of both episodes involve the Hawks.
The first episode is also about this tennis player couple that Dani helps.
Things get very racy in this episode. Her son also gets into a lot of
trouble in these last two episodes. The mid-season-ending cliff-hanger is
very good. One character is found dead!
Seasoned and brilliant actor Michael Imperioli returns as Jimmy. Also,
Lex Medlin (Owen, "Drop Dead Diva") has a small guest-starring role.
NEW EPISODE THURSDAY AT 10/9C!
"Double Fault" Airs Wednesday, August 22.
Dr. Dani treats mixed-doubles tennis players who
are all mixed up... on court and off. When something
important is stolen from TK’s apartment, Matt
finds himself going toe to toe with TK's agent,
Rob. Nico uncovers a major security breach at the
Hawks. Ray Jay wants to supplement his college
tuition. Jeanette’s pregnancy panic comes to a head.
"All the King's Horses..." (Mid-Season finale) Airs
Wednesday, August 29.
As the hawks season opener nears, Dani, TK, and the team
teeter on the precipice of disaster. Who will come crashing
down?
