The Client List

"The Client List" review by Suzanne
Sunday April 8 at 10:00pm ET/PT on Lifetime

I watched a few of these episodes, and I enjoyed it. It is a good soap opera. It's definitely something women should enjoy because it's on Lifetime and written more for a women's point of view than a man.

Jennifer Love Hewitt plays the same character as she did in the movie of this same, Riley. Her husband leaves her, and she tries to get a job so she can keep her house and support her son.

She gets a job in a spa, giving massages, but then she finds out that some of the other girls are also doing far more than giving massages, and they are making more money, so she does, too.

It is a soap opera aimed at women, so it's more about how she juggles her work and home life, and how she contends with being called names, as well as her growing relationship with her hunky brother-in-law. The relationships are more important than anything else. Also, she talks to the clients and even sometimes helps them with their problems.

There's a great cast, including Colin Egglesfield (who has been on "All My Children" and "Rizzoli and Aisles"), Cybill Sheppherd, and Loretta Divine (Grey's Anatomy).

It's definitely a good show. It may be about a "massage therapist", but it's not seedy. The writing and acting are great.

ABOUT THE CLIENT LIST: Everyone’s got something to hide and Riley Parks is no exception. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Riley, a single mother, living in a small Texas town and leading a shocking double life. Her secret would send shockwaves through the community and possibly land her in jail if it was ever exposed. Riley’s taken a job at a seemingly traditional day spa, but soon realizes that the spa offers a little more than just massage therapy. It’s not the happy ending she was expecting but it does open her eyes to a world she’s never seen before. The series follows Riley balancing these two worlds - one that revolves around her kids and family - and the other that revolves around the spa and it’s special clientele. These two worlds couldn’t be farther apart, yet she’s totally comfortable in both. Keeping them separate … now that’s the tricky part as she discovers she’s not the only one with secrets.

Golden Globe-nominated actress Jennifer Love Hewitt most recently portrayed “Melinda Gordon” on the CBS drama series, Ghost Whisperer, in which she played a young woman who delivered messages from the dead to the living.

Hewitt has amassed numerous feature film credits. She starred in Twentieth Century Fox’s live action/CGI features, Garfield and Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties; the DreamWorks action/comedy The Tuxedo, opposite Jackie Chan; MGM’s Heartbreakers, with Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman and Ray Liotta; I Know What You Did Last Summer, for which she won a 1998 Blockbuster Entertainment Award and the film’s sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer; and the comedies Can’t Hardly Wait and The Suburbans. Hewitt also starred in two independent features, The Truth About Love and If Only, which she produced with her production company Fedora Films.

She received critical acclaim as the title role in the ABC Original Movie The Audrey Hepburn Story, based on the life of the iconic Academy AwardÒ-winning actress. Hewitt is also known to television audiences as “Sarah Reeves” from the award-winning drama series Party of Five. Most recently, she starred in the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, The Lost Valentine, opposite Betty White. Hewitt received a nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made For Television for her role in the Lifetime Original Movie, The Client List, upon which the series is based.

Her first book, The Day I Shot Cupid, published by Hyperion, was a New York Times bestseller.

Hewitt resides in the Los Angeles area.

All-New Drama Based on Hit Movie Executive Produced by Hewitt also Stars Cybill Shepherd, Loretta Devine and Colin Egglesfield

LOS ANGELES, CA (March x, 2012) – The Client List, Lifetime’s new original drama starring and executive
produced by Golden Globe® Award nominee Jennifer Love Hewitt, officially opens for business on Sunday,
April 8, at 10:00pm ET/PT. Golden Globe winner Cybill Shepherd (Cybill), Emmy® Award-winning actress
Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy) and Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed) also star. Based on the
network’s hit 2010 original movie, Lifetime has ordered 10 episodes of The Client List.

The Client List is about Texas housewife “Riley Parks” (Hewitt), who, after being deserted by her husband, is
left in serious financial straits and takes a job at a seemingly traditional day spa in a neighboring town. But
when she realizes some of her co-workers also provide other services, Riley must make the difficult decision
whether or not to embrace an opportunity for her to resolve her financial hardships. The series will follow Riley
as she delicately balances a moral conflict between two starkly different lives -- one as a single mother in a
conservative town struggling to provide for her family and the other as a savvy and ambitious businesswoman
working with a raucous, sexy and unpredictable group of women. As Riley becomes more involved,
she struggles while working in secrecy knowing her family and friends would disapprove of her decision.
Shepherd stars as “Linette,” Riley’s mother; Devine plays “Georgia,” the spa’s feisty and disorganized owner;
and Egglesfield portrays Riley’s brother-in-law “Evan.”

The Client List is executive produced by Hewitt, Dannielle Thomas (The Client List), Howard Braunstein (The
Client List, The Informant!), Jordan Budde (GCB, 90210) and Efrem Seeger (Queer as Folk, The Fresh Prince
of Bel-Air), with Fedora Films and Jaffe/Braunstein producing, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
In its July 2010 world premiere, the Lifetime Original Movie The Client List, for which Hewitt received a
Golden Globe nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for
Television category, averaged 3.9 million Total Viewers. The movie was produced by Fedora Films and Jaffe-
Braunstein Entertainment.
