Josh Griffiths is the new Head Writer, replacing Maria Arena Bell, who was
not given a reason for her firing by CBS or Sony.
Scott Hamner, Y&R's co-head writer, is taking a temporary leave of
absence, saying he needs a few months off.

Michael Muhney (Adam) and his wife, Jaime, are expecting their third
child, a boy on November 10. His on-screen brother Joshua Morrow (Nick)
tweeted a picture of side-by-side ultrasounds, saying, "As if I would let @michaelmuhney
beat me in anything. Coming soon to theaters everywhere in November....."
Yep, Morrow and his wife, Tobe, are expecting a baby in November, too! The
couple are already parents to sons Cooper, 9, Crew, 7, and Cash, 4 -- and
are thrilled to have a baby girl on the way!
The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards to honor those behind
the scenes was held at the Westin Bonaventure on Sunday, June 17, 2012. GH
was the most winning soap, taking home statues for Casting, Costume Design,
Song, and Technical Direction; Days won for Makeup and Stunt Coordination;
B&B won Art Direction/Set Direction and tied Y&R for Hairstyling; AMC was
the winner in Editing and tied Y&R for Sound Mixing; OLTL won Lighting; and
Y&R took home Score.
Seven-year-old Max Page, who appears on a recurring basis as Victoria's
son, Reed Hellstrom, has left the L.A. Children's Hospital where he had heart surgery on June 14. He
was born with a congenital heart defect that has already necessitated

American Idol alumni and real-life lovebirds Diana DeGarmo (ex-Angelina)
and Ace Young got engaged on the finale of American Idol on Wednesday, May
23, 2012, when he surprised her with a ring and a heartfelt proposal on one
knee while she cried and was rendered speechless.
The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations
were announced on May 9, 2012. GH led with 23 nominations overall, followed
by Y&R (16) and Days (15). AMC, B&B, and OLTL each received 11 nominations.
The Emmy Awards ceremony will be aired live on HLN on Saturday, June 23,
2012, from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.
The 33rd Annual Young Artist Awards were given out on Sunday, May 6,
2012. Robbie Tucker (Fen, Y&R) tied Tate Berney (ex-AJ, AMC) for Best
Performance in a Daytime TV Series in the 12 and Under category, while
Andrew Trischitta (ex-Jack, OLTL) and Austin Williams (ex-Shane, OLTL) tied
in the category's older group. Haley Pullos (Molly, GH) took home two
awards: Best Guest Starring Young Actress 11-13 category for her appearance
on "House" and Best Performance in a Daytime TV Series. Danielle Parker
(ex-Emma, AMC) won for the same title in the 10 and Under category. Emily
Alyn Lind (ex-Emma, AMC) won the Best Performance in a TV Series by a
Recurring Young Actress 10 and Under for her role on "Revenge," while Erin
Sanders (ex-Eden, Y&R) was named in the Recurring Actress 17-21 category for
her part on Nickelodeon's "Big Time Rush."

Joshua Morrow (Nick) was on crutches after undergoing a cartilage graft
on his knee. He explains: "It's an injury I've been battling for a few
years. I finally bit the bullet and had the surgery because the pain was
getting to be too much. It's a 7-month recovery process, but I'm totally
off the crutches now. I was only on them for a few weeks. I'm walking now,
I've got a limp, but I'm getting there. I think the show thought I was too
gimpy for any love scenes, and I didn't even have to take my shirt off,
which is rare."
After the Academy Awards show on February 26, 2012, Sean Young
(ex-Meggie, Y&R) was asked to leave the official post-Oscars party, the
Governor's Ball, because she didn't have a ticket but later returned and
allegedly slapped a security guard when she was asked to leave again. She
was placed under citizen's arrest then booked at the Hollywood police
station for investigation of misdemeanor battery and released on $20,000
bail.
Y&R marked its 23rd consecutive year (1,196th consecutive week) as the #1 daytime drama
for the week ending December 2, 2011, according to
Nielsen Media Research. The winning streak began the week of December 26,
1988 - January 1, 1989.
The Directors Guild of America nominated seven people in the Outstanding
Directorial Achievement in Daytime Serials for 2011: Larry Carpenter for
OLTL; Mike Denney for Y&R; William Ludel for GH; Scott McKinsey for GH; Cynthia
J. Popp for B&B, Casey Childs for AMC; and Angela Tessinari for AMC. The winner announced at the 64th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on
January 28, 2012, in Los Angeles, CA is GH's William Ludel for Luke's
intervention episode.
On January 19, 2012, the nominees for the 43rd NAACP Image Awards were
announced, celebrating the accomplishments of people of color in the fields
of film, television, music and literature and honors individuals or groups
who promote social justice through creative endeavors. The nominees in the
daytime categories were: Outstanding Actor in
a Daytime Drama Series: Bryton James (Devon, Y&R), Emerson Brooks (Erica's
captor, Ben, AMC), & James Reynolds (Abe, Days), and B&B's Aaron D. Spears
(Justin, B&B), and Texas Battle (Marcus). Outstanding Actress in a Daytime

(Dr. Lewis). The winners were announced during a live telecast on NBC on

Francesco Quinn (ex-Tomas del Cerro, Y&R, 1999 - 2001) died suddenly in
Malibu, CA, of a heart attack on Friday, August 5 at the age of 48. The
actor, the son of Hollywood legend Anthony Quinn, collapsed while out
running with his son, Max.

Nikki Leaves Jack! With Victor missing in action, Sharon decides to take a
closer look at the terms of the pre-nup she signed. Sharon sets the legal paper
ablaze in the fireplace. Nikki barges in and demands to know what Sharon is
burning. Sharon claims she is simply stoking the fire. Nikki storms out and
returns to Jack, who surprises her with his plans for their honeymoon. But Nikki
insists that she can’t leave while Victor is missing. Jack warns Nikki not to
leave because he may not be waiting for her when she comes back, but she does
anyway.
Ratings for 7/16: 3.2
Avery makes a special request in order to help Paul on 8/13. Nick has a
proposition for Victoria on 8/15. Sharon forms an alliance with Tucker to take
over Newman Enterprises on 8/16. Also, Daniel and Heather take a passionate step
forward in their relationship, despite a conflict of interest. Phyllis plays a
dangerous game with Tim’s affections on 8/17.

Victor Disappears! Mere hours after marrying Victor, Sharon catches him in an
emotionally charged encounter with Nikki. Sharon returns to the ranch and when
Victor fails to show up, she begins drinking. Tucker then arrives for a meeting
with Victor and finds an inebriated Sharon, who wants to track down her MIA
husband. First stop: The Abbott backyard, where guests are celebrating Nikki and
Jack’s new marriage. Sharon, angry and drunk, staggers in. Abby, Nick and
Victoria fret about their dad’s whereabouts and begin their own search.
Meanwhile, Jack wakes up on his wedding night and finds that Nikki is not in
bed. That’s because she is outside leaving a voicemail for her ex.

JR Cacia appears on 8/8 as Detective Harvey, who is looking into Victor’s
disappearance.
Jim Holmes appears on 8/9 and 8/10 as Dr. Hoffman, who hypnotizes Eden.
George Kotsiopoulos appears on 8/7 as George, who is a part of the reality TV
version of Restless Style.
Phyllis tries desperately to keep Tim quiet on 8/8. Meanwhile, Billy is closer
than ever to discovering an important secret and Neil’s first date with Harmony
turns into a disaster. Eden’s mental health may be in jeopardy on 8/9.

Tim Returns! With Phyllis suspected of foul play in Tim Reid’s disappearance,
Ronan subpoenas Beth’s phone records and learns she’s been making calls to
Mexico. The FBI agent then travels there and finds Tim on the beach. Ronan tries
to convince Tim to return to Genoa City. At first, Tim resists, so Ronan becomes
extra-persuasive. Meanwhile, Phyllis confesses to Nick that she bribed Tim to
leave town. Ronan returns to Genoa City with Tim and the interrogation begins.
Tim then calls Phyllis and warns that he will spill what he knows unless she
meets with him. Phyllis has no choice but to agree.
Abby Makes Amends! Despite not getting any jail time for her kidnapping hoax,
Abby is smarting from having to do community service. Ashley isn’t amused by her
daughter’s complaints. Her mother’s attitude moves Abby to meet with Katherine
and apologize for her publicity stunt. Abby then presents Katherine with a check
to make up for all the donors who backed out. Abby also makes a surprising
request that her donation remain anonymous. However, when Katherine later hears
Ashley lament about her daughter’s selfishness, La Chancellor outs Abby’s
generosity.

Jerry Douglas appears on 8/1 as John Abbott, the late Abbott patriarch.
Bonnie Franklin appears in mid-August as Sister Celeste, a nun who interacts
with Victor.

Heather makes demands on 7/30. Avery is the bearer of bad news on 7/31. Victor
