Dante: [Groans] Morning already?
Lulu: Mm-hmm. You should get used to waking up early, dad.
Dante: It wasn't a dream, was it?
Lulu: We're having a baby!
Luke: Hey, slim, I'm going stir-crazy in here. I haven't seen you since heather told you that robin was alive. Let me know how you're doing, will you? And please don't buy into heather's lies.
Steve: So, what's my mother done now?
Heather: At least tell me what's going on here. I mean, who's here to see me? Could it be Luke? Could it be Steven Lars? Am I forgi -- ven?
Todd: No. No. And no.
Jason: [Sighs] [Clears throat]
Carly: Hey! What are you doing here? Come in. Come in. So good to see you.
Jason: Hey, joss. Looks great.
Carly: [Chuckles] I know it's a beautiful day and she should be out playing, but I'm not letting you out of my sight for one minute.
Jason: What happened?
Carly: Last night, she went missing.
Alexis: [Exhales] Coffee.
Sam: Oh, there's -- there's more in the kitchen. You okay?
Alexis: I'm tired. I think I got enough sleep last night, but I'm so tired, and I don't know why.
Sam: Well, you did have a long day. And what happened at Wyndemere? The security company called and said the alarm was tripped. Everything okay?
Alexis: Actually, I don't think things are okay at all.
Jerry: Oh, dr. Keenan. Why are you back so early?
Ewen: We need to talk about the sick business that went down here last night.
Dante: Breakfast is ready.
Lulu: I hope you're not expecting me to drink that.
Dante: Yeah, you got to get your recommended daily allowance of calcium.
Lulu: I don't like milk.
Dante: Well, but the baby does, so you got to drink up, mama. Maybe we could lay off on the "mama," "dad" stuff.
Dante: Well, sure, but, you know, you started it.
Lulu: Yeah, I just think I might need to ease into it. We're gonna be somebody's parents.
Dante: I know. Some kid is gonna be completely dependent on us.
Lulu: I'm starting to get freaked out.
Dante: Well, I'm scared. It's scary. I mean, parents don't know how to do it the first time, right? It's -- it's all on-the-job training.
Lulu: I just don't want to mess him up.
Dante: Or her.
Lulu: You have a preference?
Dante: Just that she's as sweet -- or he -- as sweet and as smart and beautiful as their mother -- you -- are.
Lulu: Or like you.
Sam: What was the problem at Wyndemere? Anything missing?
Alexis: You know what? I don't know. I think I fainted.
Sam: Wait. You think? What happened?
Alexis: I went over to Wyndemere. I called out for security. The next thing I know, I wake up on the -- on the sofa. Must have gotten dizzy and passed out.
Sam: Well, how do you feel now?
Alexis: I'm really tired.
Sam: Okay. Did you have the security company call you a doctor?
Alexis: I never saw them.
Sam: Wait. Wyndemere security company called you to say that the alarm was tripped, but they never showed up?
Alexis: I don't know why Nikolas has an alarm system in the first place. Anyone who wants to row their boat over to that house of horrors is welcome to whatever they can fit in their boat.
Sam: You still don't know what tripped the alarm.
Alexis: I have no idea. And you know what? I'm chalking the whole thing up to the place is cursed.
Ewen: A-are you going to answer me?
Jerry: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you asked a question. So, what was it about last night's events that troubles you?
Ewen: Troubles me, uh -- all of it. That you drugged Alexis Davis and your own niece.
Jerry: Oh, come on. Josslyn just had a little adventure. It's in the blood. It's in the family. Both my parents were quite the risk takers. I mean, lady Jane still is. She's trekking through the jungle, looking for orchids. Jax, I mean, has never met a mountain he didn't want to climb or a wave he didn't want to surf. Josslyn was just -- honoring a family tradition.
Ewen: Family tradition, eh? Is that by being snatched from her bed and dragged to an abandoned house in the middle of the night and drugged by her own uncle?
Jerry: Well, she's back with her mother, isn't she? Last night's events was nothing more than a pleasant dream to Josslyn.
Jason: What time did you realize Josslyn was missing? How long was she gone, and where did you find her?
Carly: I went to check on her last night, and she wasn't in her bed, and Johnny and I went looking for her.
Jason: Johnny was here?
Carly: Johnny was here, and thank god he was here, 'cause I would have lost my mind.
Jason: Who found her?
Carly: Johnny found her, and he had nothing to do with her disappearance. He was with me the whole time.
Jason: Where did Johnny find her?
Carly: Out by the swing set. She must have been sleepwalking.
Jason: Has she ever done that before?
Carly: No. No. And I hope to god she never does it again.
Jason: Are you sure she got out there by herself?
Carly: Why? What are you thinking?
Jason: [Sighs] You know, Jax. Maybe he wanted to visit her without anybody knowing.
Carly: But Jax wouldn't take her outside.
Jason: Well, I mean, if he missed her and wanted to see her -- yeah.
Carly: Okay. All right. Hey, girl. [Chuckles] Um, you know last night, when you were outside and Johnny found you? Was there anybody else with you? It's okay. You can tell me.
Dante: We're gonna love this kid, and that's all anyone can ask.
Lulu: You're right.
Dante: Are you still freaked out?
Lulu: Yeah. But I didn't know I could be so happy about something I didn't even know I wanted.
Dante: Right? It's like the best accident that could ever happen. I mean, you heard me. I was ready to shout it from the rooftops.
Lulu: You kind of did.
Dante: I can't help it. I just wanted everyone to know.
Lulu: Actually, I don't think that's a good idea.
Luke: Heather didn't go to Ferncliff quietly. She tried one final mind game on Anna. I'd tell you all the details, but you probably don't want to hear them.
Steve: You're probably right about that. [Sighs] I owe you an apology.
Luke: If it's for all the blood you people have been siphoning of, apology accepted.
Steve: If I hadn't agreed to supervise my mother, she never would have been released from Ferncliff.
Luke: You screwed up. The doctors at Ferncliff screwed up worse.
Steve: I've been wanting to say something to you ever since you were released from I.C.U. I've been so busy with Olivia --
Luke: How is she doing?
Steve: She's on the mend. I told her how sorry I am. I wanted to do the same to you.
Luke: Well, from what I hear, you saved my life. So -- we'll call it even.
Steve: I'm just glad you and Olivia should both make a full recovery and that my mother is locked up in Ferncliff, where we won't have to worry about her hurting anyone else.
Luke: Maybe. But what about mother's little helper?
Heather: Todd manning. And I thought you were avoiding me.
Todd: What ever gave you that idea?
Heather: You don't return my calls. I leave you messages.
Todd: Do you? Really?
Todd: Oh. Yeah, you're right. There's only 97 of them, though.
Heather: It's not healthy, you know.
Todd: What? Being away from you? [Chuckles] Helps my well-being.
Heather: I was referring to your state of denial. We talk about it often in group. You can never get rid of your problems by sticking your head in the sand.
Todd: So where do you stick your head? [Chuckles] I'm sorry. Where were we?
Heather: I wouldn't be so cavalier if I were you. I may be locked up in this hell hole, but I can still ruin your life.
Todd: All right. What is it that you want?
Heather: My terms remain the same.
Todd: You want me to get you out of here.
Heather: If you don't, you give me no choice. I'll have to call Samantha and tell her that that baby of hers is alive and well and living in Llanview. Alice the cat is about to explore.
Dante: You don't want to tell people about the baby yet?
Lulu: At least until we have something to tell. I haven't even seen a doctor yet.
Dante: You said that test was, like, 99% accurate, right?
Lulu: Yeah, but, still, I don't want to jinx it.
Dante: Since when are you superstitious?
Lulu: I just don't want to rush into anything. I don't want to give my dad an unnecessary heart attack.
Dante: All right. Yeah. Yeah. You have a point there. I don't want to flip my mother into overdrive when she's just getting back on her feet.
Lulu: So you agree. We should get the facts straight before we say anything.
Dante: Actually, you know, I think -- I think that's a great idea, you know, keeping it between us -- just our little family. It's like the three of us against the world.
Luke: For all we know, that spud could still be out there, doing your mother's bidding.
Steve: Okay, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Luke: Well -- [Chuckles] Moving bodies around, terrorizing people, holding me hostage, writing a newspaper column -- your mother had a lot on her plate. At some point, she had to delegate.
Steve: Are you saying my mother had an accomplice?
Todd: In case the doctors haven't explained this to you already, you've been diagnosed as being not just a danger to yourself but to others. So no one -- not even me -- I can't get you out of here.
Heather: Don't underestimate yourself, Todd. Come on. Remember when I was supposed to go to the big house for Anthony Zacchara's murder? Hey, you got me out of that. You found me a look-alike, and you had him come on down to the station and give me an alibi.
Todd: No, I just paid the guy. You found him.
Heather: That's true. I did. I can be quite brilliant at times. You know, I used to do very well on those standardized tests in school. You know the ones where you fill in the little dots?
Todd: Clearly they weren't testing for sanity.
Heather: Your sarcasm can be very hurtful at times. But I have faith in you. I know you can get me out of here.
Todd: Okay, let me walk you through this, and try with that fine mind of yours to grasp all the facts, okay? When you killed Anthony Zacchara, the cops -- they couldn't build a case against you. But they caught you red-handed. You shot a woman up with LSD.
Heather: Yeah, well, her son is not a very objective witness.
Todd: You shot a guy.
Heather: By accident! I love Luke.
Todd: Well, sure, nothing says love more than hog-tying you in a shack. Luke Spencer almost died in that fire. So did the police commissioner, after you hit her on the head and took her gun. That's attempted murder and assault on a -- on a police officer with a British accent! This is way, way beyond anything that I can clean up.
Heather: Then I guess you've got a problem.
Luke: At one point, when I was in that garden shed, turning into mulch, heather, apparently overbooked, sent a friend of hers to feed and water me.
Steve: I'm sorry. I didn't know this. Did you tell the police?
Luke: I don't know. I don't -- I don't think so. My head's been pretty fuzzy, you know.
Steve: Yeah, you've been on some powerful medication.
Luke: Thank you for that, by the way.
Steve: So you don't remember anything.
Luke: Well, I didn't. But I think it's starting to come back to me.
Steve: Do you know who my mother's accomplice was?
Luke: As a matter of fact, I do. It was Jason.
Carly: You sure you didn't see anybody? Not even daddy? I know you miss daddy. And I miss him, too. So if you talked to him, I wouldn't be upset with you. It would be okay, and you can tell me.
Jason: You know, whatever happened, she doesn't remember. It's okay.
Carly: It's okay, baby. You can keep coloring. You're doing a great job. [Sighs] See? It doesn't make sense.
Jason: No, it doesn't make any sense. But at least she seems okay.
Carly: Thank god. So -- you didn't tell me what you're doing here.
Jason: Yeah, um -- I just wanted to tell you this in person. I didn't want you to hear it from somebody else.
Carly: This sounds bad. What's going on?
Jason: Sam and I are, uh, getting a divorce.
Sam: Sure you don't want to go back to bed and rest up a little?
Alexis: Nah. I'm good. I'm gonna get down to the office and work on the restraining order.
Sam: [Sighs] Well, I know anything you can do, john will appreciate it.
Alexis: Did he say where he's staying?
Sam: Yes, he called and left a message and said he was staying at the rendezvous motel.
Alexis: Good. I'm glad he didn't go running back to Llanview and he took my advice. In the meantime, I'm gonna make this case my priority.
Sam: Yeah. Mom, I don't want to overload you, but you're about to have another client. Me. Jason and I are getting a divorce.
Ewen: I'm sick of your riddles, jerry. What are in the vials?
Jerry: Well, you're hardly in a position to interrogate me.
Ewen: I'm your accomplice. I-if anything happens to them, I'm looking at murder charges.
Jerry: Oh, you already are. But not for Josslyn or Alexis. They won't feel any of the aftereffects after their time at Wyndemere last night.
Ewen: So why those two?
Jerry: Why not?
Ewen: What's -- what's the connection?
Jerry: You see, it's the little mysteries that keep life entertaining. But I can assure you, it will become clear very soon.
Lulu: Thank you. So, dr. Lee has a cancelation. We have an appointment in an hour.
Dante: Wow. We get to find out everything there is to know about this little guy.
Lulu: Or girl.
Dante: Yeah. Is dr. Lee gonna be able to -- tell us what we're gonna have?
Lulu: Uh, I don't know. But I'm sure she'll be able to tell us my due date.
Dante: Really? You hear that, little one? Get to find out when we get to meet you.
Ewen: I took an oath, jerry, to first do no harm.
Jerry: But you've already broken that oath, haven't you? Look, you need something a little more calming. So why don't I make you a nice cup of tea, all right? Good.
Ewen: Isn't there something easier to drug me with?
Jerry: I'm not going to drug you. I need you to be in full possession of your faculties if you're gonna be of any use. Also, it would be very helpful if you weren't always on the verge of a panic attack. So sit down, close your eyes, modulate your breathing, and I'll make you a cuppa. All right, mate?
Sam: Jason came by yesterday.
Alexis: Was john here?
Sam: It got uncomfortable for a minute.
Alexis: How uncomfortable?
Sam: Well, john was upset about the restraining order and not being able to see his son and Natalie, and I was comforting him and gave him a hug, and Jason walked in right in the middle of it.
Alexis: This isn't why you're getting divorced, is it?
Sam: No, but he isn't exactly thrilled about it.
Alexis: Well, I get that, but doesn't he get that you might need someone to talk to?
Sam: Yeah, we talked about it.
Alexis: You and Jason.
Sam: Mm-hmm. We -- we did it yesterday. We talked about everything.
Sam: And with the way things are now, the loss of the baby, I can't get past it. It's just too much.
Alexis: You don't even want to try?
Sam: I have, mom. I can't get past what Jason did. We agreed to have a divorce. Will you take my case?
Alexis: You know that I'll do anything I can to help you. But you know once the paperwork gets filed and the lawyers get involved, a divorce has a life of its own. I want you to be very sure that this is what you want.
Carly: A divorce?
Carly: You can't fix this? There's no other way?
Jason: We agreed to talk to the lawyers. No one's gonna contest anything. It should be a very simple process.
Carly: Okay, Josslyn, honey, we need to go.
Jason: What are you doing?
Carly: I'm gonna go talk to Sam.
Jason: No, you're not. It's okay, Josslyn. Keep drawing. See, this is exactly why I wanted to talk to you.
Carly: So you could restrain me?
Jason: I want to thank you. I appreciate everything you did.
Carly: I didn't do anything.
Jason: You were happy for me. When things started to fall apart, you tried to help me repair it.
Carly: Because I love you. You're my best friend, and I would do anything in the world for you. You know that.
Jason: I know that. Do not try to fix this. Just let it happen.
Carly: You know what kills me is that Sam swore up and down that she could accept you and your life no matter what, and the first time something goes wrong, she takes off.
Jason: Just stop.
Carly: No! Because you're a good man. And Sam should have faith in you. She should have known that you were gonna love that baby instead of shacking up with john McBain.
Jason: I don't want to talk about it.
Carly: You should want to talk about it. 'Cause Sam's a victim. Sam's always a victim. Let's feel sorry for Sam!
Jason: We made the choice to stop hurting each other. When something's broken this badly, you just got to let it go.
Carly: But you love her, Jason. Regardless of whether you should or I think she's right for you, you love her. So do you want to give up?
Steve: So my mother's accomplice was Jason Morgan?
Luke: No, Jason Voorhees.
Luke: Tall, wears a hockey mask, carries a machete.
Steve: You mean from "Friday the 13th."
Luke: Yeah. That's the one.
Steve: So my mother's accomplice wore a hockey mask and carried a machete.
Luke: Which he used to split open a pineapple.
Steve: So why wear a mask?
Luke: He didn't want me to see his face.
Todd: I'm the one with the problem? I have a problem?
Heather: Yeah. If you can't get me released, I have no choice. I'll have to let my fingers do the walking. I'm sure I've got Samantha's number around here somewhere.
Todd: Fine. You go ahead. But you're only hurting tea.
Heather: Yes. Tea will lose her baby, and, well, she'll probably hate you forever. But you're used to that, aren't you?
Todd: [Clears throat]
Heather: And I suppose I'll end up locked up here forever. But I'm used to that, too. And you'll be arrested for kidnapping. But you've been in prison before. Isn't that right, Todd? Only this time you're gonna go away for a lot longer.
Todd: What is it that you expect me to do?
Heather: You figure it out. I certainly can't stay here. I mean, I have get to the people that I love.
Todd: You don't really think that anybody wants to see you.
Heather: I've made mistakes. I understand that. But I have to try to make it up to Luke and Steven Lars.
Todd: You shot Luke in the back!
Heather: Well, love does mean never having to say you're sorry.
Todd: And Steven Lars' girlfriend -- you shot her up with LSD! She's probably running naked through the woods right now, looking for a drum circle! No, that's actually -- yeah, that -- that'd be --
Heather: Are you suggesting that they won't forgive me?
Todd: I'm saying that what you've done might require more than, you know, a "say it with flowers" kind of apology.
Heather: I'm Steven Lars' mother.
Todd: Oh, boy.
Heather: He needs me. No one can take care of Steven Lars the way I can. No one would go to the lengths that I have. I've done everything to protect him. I saved his medical career. No, I saved his life. He'd be rotting in a jail in Memphis if it weren't for me.
Todd: Wait a minute. What did you just say?
Heather: I was simply just trying to explain the depths of a mother's love. But I could hardly expect you to understand that.
Heather: I know that Steven Lars will forgive me. After everything I've done for him, he has to.
Todd: Because, um, [Chuckles] You made it look like some woman -- Maggie Wurth -- killed a man in Memphis.
Heather: With a brilliantly composed suicide note, if I do say so myself.
Todd: Oh, go ahead. Say so yourself. [Laughs] But now the whole world knows that Maggie Wurth didn't write that letter, and so the whole world knows that she didn't eighty-six that patient.
Heather: What are you getting at?
Todd: Well, you know, the cops -- they love to arrest people. So, uh, I'm sure now that they're reopening the case, they will go back to looking after the first suspect that they had, your beloved Steven Lars.
Steve: So, my mother's accomplice wearing the mask -- you never saw his face?
Luke: Nope. Just a hockey mask.
Lulu: Dr. Lee is running a little late, but she knows I'm here.
Dante: All right. I just went and checked on my mom. She's still sleeping. But, uh, you want to go see your dad?
Lulu: Yeah, just, uh, remember. It's our secret.
Dante: Yeah, I know. I'll keep it between the three of us. I will.
Dante: I mean it.
Dante: All right.
Steve: Hey. Perfect timing. I was just gonna go check on Olivia.
Dante: Oh, she's sound asleep.
Steve: Good. Good. Rest is the best medicine in this place. Why don't you spend some time with your dad?
Dante: Hey, I'll be right back. Hey, Steve.
Steve: Yeah? What's going on?
Dante: Have the Memphis police contacted you?
Steve: Not yet.
Dante: I haven't said anything because of my mother's situation, but that stuff's all gonna have to come out.
Steve: Yeah, I understand.
Dante: All right.
Steve: Make sure Luke tells you about the accomplice.
Lulu: What accomplice?
Luke: Heather Webber's partner in crime.
Todd: Isn't it funny -- and I don't mean like funny "ha-ha." I mean funny "ah" that Steven Lars hasn't been arrested already since, you know, the Memphis police department -- they were ready to prosecute before you came up with your -- you had a word for it. What was your scheme? What did you call it? Brilliant! Your brilliant scheme!
Heather: Nothing could happen to Steven Lars. I will not allow it.
Todd: Yeah, well, there's probably nothing to worry about. I'm sure that the Memphis police department's real busy, you know, eating donuts and going to Graceland. But they could open the case again, you know, eventually.
Heather: You really think the police will come after Steven Lars again?
Todd: It's just a matter of time, you know. And then your precious baby boy will be just like you and just like me -- locked up forever.
Heather: No. That can't happen.
Sam: You know how hard it was for me to marry Jason. I was only able to do it because of how much I loved him and how strong I thought we were together. [Sniffles] I thought we were gonna be married forever.
Alexis: Sweetie, I get it. You just started thinking about this. You still have time to change your mind.
Sam: I know. No matter how much I want things to go back to the way they were -- my marriage is broken. No amount of trying is gonna be able to fix that.
Alexis: Is john McBain a part of this?
Sam: Yeah, mom. Obviously. I mean, I don't think that john set out to hurt my marriage intentionally. I mean, he didn't even know me before he got here. But, yeah, there's this connection between us, and because of that, it provoked Jason. And what he did from it I won't ever be able to forgive him.
Alexis: But what if john went back to Llanview and wasn't at the rendezvous motel?
Sam: It's still too late for me and Jason. I mean, that's what we talked about yesterday. He's sorry. I know he is. He's truly sorry. But I can't get past it, mom. I miss my baby so much and the pain is so deep that every time I look in Jason's eyes, I see the guy who abandoned me when I needed him the most.
Alexis: I'm sorry, sweetie.
Sam: I mean, it's over. I can't believe it. I can't believe we're getting a divorce.
Jason: There's nothing left to fight for. You know, what Sam and I had is, uh -- it's gone, Carly.
Carly: I'm sorry.
Jason: It's okay.
Carly: No, it's not okay. You don't deserve this. You don't deserve this. Hey! [Chuckles] Look, I'm sorry that I got really loud and emotional there, but Jason's just kind of sad right now, and I was trying to make him feel better. Want to give Jason a hug? Yeah? [Chuckles]
Carly: There you go.
Jason: Thank you. I feel better already.
Carly: Yes. Yes, you're a good girl. Ooh, what -- what's that? What happened?
Ewen: Now, what have you got in here?
Jerry: Can I help you with that?
Watch out, wishful thinking
Ewen: Yes. I need to know what you injected Alexis and Josslyn with.
Jerry: Oh, why don't you take it to the lab, have it analyzed? But I could spare your hospital the expense. Give it to me. There we go. Mm. Ah. Very refreshing. Perhaps you've heard of it. It's called h2o.
Ewen: Very funny.
Jerry: You were the one who wanted to know what was in the vial.
Ewen: And I-it's nothing but water? What is this, a test?
Jerry: Think of it as an educational exercise. See, I knew you'd be blundering about, looking for answers, so this is a safe and sane way to let you know that I'm always one step ahead of you.
Ewen: And I'm just supposed to blindly follow your orders?
Jerry: It would make things simpler. Time is of the essence, and I can't have you slowing me down.
Alexis: I completely understand. I also understand why you don't want to drag this out. So to answer your question, yes, I will represent you.
Sam: Thank you. I just -- I want to keep it as simple as possible.
Alexis: How does Jason feel about this?
Sam: Um, he's gonna have Diane represent him.
Alexis: Yeah, I don't know if that's such a good idea. She doesn't do amicable.
Sam: She'll do whatever Jason says. I just hope he doesn't force me to take alimony or a settlement or something. I don't want any of that.
Alexis: I'm just sorry that you have to go through this at all, after the baby.
Sam: I'll be okay.
Alexis: You are always so strong. I just wish that you didn't have to be.
Sam: [Chuckles] That makes two of us.
Alexis: All right, listen. So, your fairy godmother has the day off. I'm gonna do my best to fill in, try to make this divorce as painless for you as possible.
Sam: Okay. Thank -- thank you. I appreciate that. I mean, I-I appreciate you.
Carly: Sweetie, how did you get this red mark on your arm? It wasn't here yesterday. Did you bump it on something?
Jason: Maybe she got bit by something when she was playing outside.
Carly: It doesn't look like a mosquito bite. I wonder what it could be. I'm not trying to overreact, but she's still on antirejection meds, and the doctor said I should be really, really careful, so --
Jason: Okay, then maybe we should take her -- to the hospital.
Carly: Okay. Hey, let's go for a ride, okay? Yeah? Come on.
Lulu: So, this guy wore a hockey mask, and you didn't think to mention that before?
Luke: [Chuckles] Honey, I just -- I just remembered. I've been sort of out of it.
Dante: Okay, so you don't know what he looked like, but did he say anything to you?
Luke: No, the conversation was limited to monosyllabic grunts, and I wasn't really paying that much attention. I was focused on the food and water that he brought.
Lulu: It's bad enough that I didn't know you were missing, but to think of you starving --
Luke: Actually --
Dante: You remember something?
Luke: Yeah, I was trying to negotiate with him, you know, trying to get him to let me go. And for a while, I thought he might.
Dante: Like he was showing remorse?
Luke: Well, he was showing some kind of humanity behind the mask. I mentioned that I have a daughter and that I wanted to get back to her, I needed to see her again, and -- that's when he kind of softened up. I mean, I don't know. It was almost like maybe he's got a daughter, too.
Lulu: Hmm, maybe that's helpful.
Dante: If he was telling the truth. This guy works for heather Webber. It's not really, you know, a reliable source.
Luke: No, all I know is that when I mentioned lulu -- I thought he was gonna let me go.
Lulu: You were really thinking about me when you were tied up.
Luke: You find that surprising?
Lulu: I guess I just don't expect you to be sentimental.
Luke: I don't think it's sentimental to think of the people you love when you're dying. You're my only daughter, baby. You're on my mind more than you know.
Heather: I won't let them arrest Steven Lars. They are not sending my baby to prison.
Todd: It's okay, all right? You know, don't worry about it. They probably have their hands full down there.
Heather: So, the whole case might just fall through the cracks.
Todd: Well, there's a lot of cracks, you know. And a lot of files. And, you know, it's easy for them probably to lose track.
Heather: Right. I've seen the way the P.D. Operates in this town. It's a miracle they get anything done.
Todd: Unless, you know, someone were to point them in the right direction -- you know, somebody who had influence and a lot of money, let's say somebody who owned a newspaper.
Heather: What are you saying?
Todd: Oh, no, no. I'm only speaking hypothetically here, but, you know, hypothetically speaking, what if there were a hypothetical newspaperman who hypothetically would, uh, you know, put pressure on the Memphis police department to arrest Steven Lars?
Heather: You wouldn't!
Todd: Oh, well, I'm only speaking hypothetically here, but, again, hypothetically, what if there were another hypothetical newspaperman who would put money in the right pockets and make sure that Steven's case actually fell through those cracks and that the whole thing went away entirely? I mean, I know that we're only speaking hypothetically here, but -- tell me something. What would you do? Sweetie, you have to scrub it first.
Carly: Steve? Do you have a minute?
Steve: Sure. What's going on?
Carly: I may be overreacting, but can you take a look at Josslyn's arm?
Steve: Yeah. Let me see.
Jerry: Are you gonna join me, doctor? It's oolong from down under. It's very soothing.
Ewen: I'm sure it is. You know, I don't care, okay, what games you're playing. You -- you did not have me kidnap Josslyn jacks to bring her all the way out here to inject her and Alexis Davis with just plain water.
Jerry: You know, it's astonishing how much my niece has grown up. She's gonna be very tall, like her father.
Ewen: I don't care. I will not take part in hurting a child.
Jerry: Look -- you took an oath. Right? I give you my word that no harm will befall Josslyn or Alexis. Satisfied?
Jerry: I can understand. Most people in this town think that my word isn't worth much.
Sam: Thank you for everything.
Alexis: You don't ever have to thank me, my darling.
Sam: I knew you would say that. Really, what you're doing, it means so much.
Alexis: You do have to let me go, though, if you need me to get to the office so that I can file the appropriate paperwork.
Sam: Whoa. You okay?
Alexis: Uh -- yow. I don't really feel so good at the moment. [Sighs]
Sam: Mom? Mom?
Heather: Is that a threat?
Todd: You mean, will I start pressuring the Memphis police department to arrest Steven Lars, the way you've been threatening to tell Sam the truth about what I did to her baby?
Todd: I'm only speaking hypothetically. [Clears throat] But just so you know, you're not the only one in the loony bin right now who has some power.
Heather: Well, then, Mr. Manning, what are your terms?
Todd: Heather, I can't get you out of here. But I can help your son.
Todd: Well, first, you have to promise to not call Sam. And then if you love Steven Lars as much as you say you do --
Heather: And then what?
Todd: Well, I'll keep him out of trouble.
Heather: How? W-what do you mean?
Todd: You just stay here and macramé pot holders, and I'll make sure that no one knows that Steven Lars killed a patient.
Heather: I'd do anything to save Steven Lars. Even stay in this miserable place.
Todd: So we're agreed, then. It ends here?
Dante: So, who would work for heater?
Lulu: Someone as crazy as she is.
Luke: Or someone she's got something on.
Dante: Or a professional.
Luke: What about that guy that looked like Anthony, the one that she claimed she met on the internet?
Luke: Does he have kids?
Dante: [Sighs] Look, there's a file on Archie Boles at the station. But this internet date she had -- that'll be tougher to track down. But if you ask me, both these guys are just down-and-outs working for heather for the money.
Luke: Well, I'd say the guy with the machete is pretty well off.
Dante: How could you tell? He was wearing a mask.
Luke: He was wearing expensive shoes.
Todd: Uh, heather? No one needs to know about our little association.
