Steve Burton Fan Event

Today something rare happened in my home state of Michigan.  It was a soap fan event with General Hospital’s Steve Burton.  Steve (Jason Morgan) did a fan “meet and greet” at Chaplain’s Comedy Club in Clinton Township.

Steve spent about an hour talking to fans and sharing information about himself.  Throughout his set, Steve also answered questions from the audience.  He even shared the story of how he met his wife while she was working as an intern at General Hospital.  He also credited Maurice Benard for helping him improve his acting skills.  Burton said Benard took time out of his schedule years ago to “coach” him. 

Steve Burton had no problem admitting that he doesn’t watch General Hospital.  He had the audience bring him up to speed on what’s happened lately.  Burton said the current story with Michael getting shot has been a difficult one.  Burton talked about his other projects, including a Western that’s slated to begin shooting soon. 

Halfway through the show, Steve was joined by Derk Cheetwood (Max).  Cheetwood shared some amusing upcoming stories about Max and Diane with the audience.  Burton and Cheetwood are close friends and former roommates.  The two have been doing comedy club appearances together lately. 

The crowd was small but enthusiastic.  Not surprisingly it was made up mostly of women.  After the show, fans were able to take a picture with both actors.  Steve and Derk were warm and friendly with the fans.  It was a pleasure to meet both of them.
