Stay Tuned…
It has been some time since my last article and there’s a reason for
it, I stopped watching. Of course, I read the recaps on this site, and I youtubed eventual scenes, but beyond that, nothing. Why? Well, if the
writers could give up, then so could I.
The storylines that have been presented in the past year have been
extremely boring, unimaginative and mirrored storylines from the past.
Even the sweeps storylines, which are made to shock and awe, fell flat
on both accounts. This once dynamic daytime drama has become mundane,
with no glimpses of originality.
Sonny marries for convenience instead of love, yet finds himself
falling in love with his marriage of convenience wife Claudia. This
storyline was reincarnated from the first chapter of Sonny and Carly.
Only, he married Carly to stay out of jail and Claudia for power.
Jason and Sonny have a disagreement, disabling the friendship.
Usually they'd consider themselves enemies due to their stance on a
partial situation, only to resume their friendship once one or both of
them came to their senses. This occurred when Jason dated Courtney,
Sonny dated Emily and most recently, when Sonny ordered Jason to kill a
Russian mobster and went ballistic when he refused. That’s where Sonny’s
marriage to Claudia came into play.
Another who’s the daddy storyline emerged when Carly had relations
with Sonny and Jax on the same night. This storyline has been done so
many times. Sam wasn’t sure if Sonny or Jax was the father of her baby.
Courtney had a choice between Nikolas and Jax. Elizabeth – Lucky or
Jason. Carly again, between AJ or Tony. And if rumors are correct,
Claudia could be playing who’s the daddy also.
Like I said, the storylines have been already done, making them
lackluster and trite. I’m not saying that I couldn’t accept a redo
storyline, because I could. But if that’s what you’re going to give me,
then at least make it worth my while. Don’t just insert characters in old
storylines and expect a miracle. It doesn’t work. It never does.
