Misguided
When Liz and Ric first became a couple, I protested. My reasoning had
nothing to do with the couple, but everything to do with the abrupt breakup
of Liz and Jason. That debacle made me despise the Liz and Ric pairing, the
first time. Their second time at love was so short it didn’t even register
on my GH love story radar. So now am I supposed to believe that Liz’s one
night stand with Jason pushed Ric passed the point of no return? Can I
believe that Ric’s suppressed obsession (guilt) over his failed marriages to
Elizabeth has resurfaced? Yes.
Ric is a sick and twisted SOB who would seriously use his misguided
“concern” for Liz as his reasoning behind his latest war with Sonny and
Jason. His resentment for Sonny and hatred for Jason only fueled his fire.
The thought of Liz, sober and conscience, willingly having sex with Jason,
has taken him to a whole new level of vengeance. It’s as if she was his
wife and had an affair, which is not the case. In fact, Liz and Ric have
been divorced for over two years and happen to be married to other people.
In the past month, there have been more Liz and Ric scenes that I care
for, yet I do enjoy the fact that Liz has a clue. She knows why Rich is
showing her attention. She’s not buying the “concerned” friend persona Ric
is trying to use to get close to her. It would’ve been obvious to her, even
if Cruz didn’t inform her of Ric’s knowledge about her and Jason. It’s still
very creepy how Ric is practically begging for her to see him as a confidant
or savior instead of Jason.
Everyone knows that when Ric becomes desperate, he also becomes pathetic.
Some might see Ric as pathetic all the time, but during his bouts of terror,
it really shows. Trying to convince your ex-wife that your nemesis is
untrustworthy when you yourself can’t be trusted is pretty pathetic. It’s as
if Liz took Sonny’s place as the prize in Ric’s demented competition with
Jason and like Sonny, Liz would never choose Ric…at least not this time.
