Times
Have Changed
The sister of a mob-enforcer and the daughter of
doctors, Emily Quartermaine has been exposed to two different worlds.
Although for the most part she has been living in the world of medicine,
since her separation from her then husband (now ex-husband) Nikolas
Cassadine, she has moved into the guest house of the home of her brothers
boss Sonny Corinthos. I was a viewer of General Hospital when the character
of Emily came back to Port Charles, she was always a character that I liked
to watch (there were of course some times when she did get on my nerves) but
she always seemed liked the moral compass of the Quartermaine family. I
especially liked the fact that she was close to her brother Jason, even
though the rest of her family (besides Monica) did not show the same love
for Jason. Currently though I am a bit shocked at the fact that Emily is
falling for Sonny, I know that he is a charismatic man who has let her into
his home but I find myself not wanting to watch her scenes recently. The
primary reason I try and not watch Emily scenes is because I think that
Sonny and her together is just something that I cannot stand to think about.
It also seems like a waste of her character to be portrayed as the next
possible Mrs. Sonny Corinthos, as she has such potential to be a great
doctor. We know from history that when a woman gets involved with Sonny, she
seems to lose a part of herself. I hope that in the near future I will be
able to watch Emily scenes again and I hope the writers do not drag Emily
back into the past (with Nikolas) but give her a fresh new storyline that
can revive her character.
Today’s
Episode
I will start off mentioning something that has nothing
to do with any storyline; I really loved the shirt that Sonny was wearing
today because the color was great and looked really good on him. Again we
have to go through another trial which means days and days of scenes in the
courtroom, I not really going to talk about the trial since I can’t stand
watching it. The only part I thought was interesting was when Justus was
asking Dr. Winters questions when she was on the stand and he said that
Diego embarrassed her. It looked like he punched her in the stomach or
something because she looked so shocked that he would ask her a question
like that. What did you expect Dr. Winters, that just because you and Justus
are involved that he would take it easy on you, well if you thought that
before, I can guarantee you don’t think that way now. Well now it seems as
though everyone is catching on to the fact that Emily and Sonny are getting
a little too close. I love how Lorenzo got mad at Carly for using the trial
as an excuse to come see Sonny and how Sonny defended Carly and called her
his wife. Everyone seems to think that it is Carly who is having a hard time
moving on from Sonny but I think that he needs her in his life more than he
knows it. When Carly told Jason that she knows Emily is falling for Sonny,
he didn’t seem to believe it to be true. That was until she brought up Lily
and Brenda in comparison to Emily and then when Sam told him that she
thought it was possible. Jason also brought up the fact that Sonny breaks
the women in his life and that he did not want that to happen to Emily. I
think that the two people who are going to try and stop this possible
relationship the most are Jason and Carly. In the previews it shows Carly
telling Sonny to stop doing that and I think she is referring to the fact of
him defending her in front of not just Lorenzo but like he does when anyone
attacks her. Glad to see that the old Carly is back and I send out my
congratulations to Laura Wright, as she is doing a great job as Carly.
