Random Thoughts, Questions, & Ideas

OBSERVATIONS:
Just finished watching SOAPnet’s La Lucci Marathon:
- Episode – Tom Discovers Erica is taking birth
control pills:
I found it interesting seeing Susan so young, and
very pregnant. I am sure at the time I originally
watched this episode I was not paying attention to how
full her face was, how big her clothing was, or how they
were shooting her from the stomach up. I was also amazed
on her hair and makeup. Not at all very glamorous back
then.
I was never a fan of Tom Cudahy, I did not find him
very attractive or such a great “catch” for women to be
fighting over. However, while I can understand him being
a strict Catholic, and that what Erica did was very
serious, I had forgotten how big of a temper he had. If
I did not know better, I swear I thought he was going to
physically hurt Erica. I also found it interesting that
back then even if the house was his, how a husband could
just throw his legally wedded wife out, and that Erica
would have just accepted this. Times have sure changed.
- Episode – Erica’s Meltdown:
Well, first off, how great did Susan look in that hot
red dress? I loved her hair dark as well. Watching her
go off the rails at the award benefit was very
interesting. I always thought that her drug addiction
storyline was her best and should have got her the Emmy.
I also looked fondly at that episode to see how big
the cast was back then. Also how many fine actors are
now gone (Palmer, Myrtle, Phoebe) and the actors that
were “killed” off, Edmund and Trevor. I miss having
those rare occasions on AMC when the whole cast would be
together.
I also thought about many years later, how Maria
would have a similar breakdown at a gathering.
- Episode – Return of Miranda:
The whole Miranda storyline from Babe and Bianca
giving birth together alone through the final discovery
of both Miranda and AJ being alive and back with their
parents was an amazing story. It involved so many
characters and subplots, and it cast the dye for future
stories.
Seeing Kendall with Ethan, and knowing later she
would marry his father, Zach. Seeing again so many
characters gathered together for a single episode. It
brought back so many wonderful memories.
- Episode – Erica and Jack’s Wedding:
I know this may shock some, but I really do not get
excited watching weddings on soaps. I always find them
too sappy. However, in this instance, I loved this
wedding. First it was nice that it was just family. I
love how Jack’s “kids” walked him in and Erica’s “kids”
walked her in. The Banyon Tree analogy was a favorite of
mine. I did always like their blended family. I enjoyed
each of the kids speaking their peace at the ceremony, I
thought that was very touching. This was a mature
wedding between two people who have been through so much
and finally got it together. It was not some starry-eyed
over-the-top fantasy wedding like we are usually
accustomed to.
Well, that is all. I know I left out an episode, but for
the life of me right now, I cannot remember what it was. I
look forward tonight for the Last Chance Romance Marathon. I
am going to watch it starting a 5 pm (ET) and at 8 pm I will
record it and watch the Emmy’s. After watching the shows I
missed, I will catch up with all of you.
I realize this week is going to be hard for me and for
many of you out there. I know we all thought that AMC ending
would never happen. So let us all be there for one another
this week.
Well, that’s about all for now. Have a great week.
I would love to hear from any of my readers.
